Yay welcome back!
It’s good to back.

HI
HI HELLO.
Replies to review silliness;
csaberific answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
Ew ew ew pretentious diction in a fanfic review.
“I'd add that in this particular story there is a duplicated full stop/period, and a missing quotation mark. Such things are trivial but you might wish to suppress them.”
I’LL GET RIGHT ON THAT SUPPRESSION. Really. I have a authorial secret police for just this occasion.

Unsolicited concrit is never cool.
It seems obvious... like, maybe have a basic rapport with the author first, find out what level of feedback they want?
musanocturnis answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
Toss in the bin where it belongs. (and also squirt it some, before or after) It’d be different if it’s someone actually interacting with the author and talking about stuff so it can be incorporated into future works but like, USEFUL OR BUST
That’s really what it boils down to, right? Is this potentially useful to the author, yes or no? The way this person talks (I’ve gotten a few of them now), it’s pretty clear they’re doing for themselves, not me.
annakie answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
Ugh wow, that’s gross. And I’m sorry. But also a really good question about when it’s too late for concrit. But I hope they either stop or ease up, and they don’t bother you much *hugs*
They actually used an account for subsequent ones, so I replies with a tanks but no thanks message. Here’s hoping it puts a stop to it.
shadesofmauve answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
*squirt squirt squirt* There SHOULD be an expiry date. And packaging does matter.
This is still possibly my favorite fanfic comment in-joke. INTERNET-ENABLED SQUIRT BOTTLE. For those mild but nonetheless irritating... irritants.

Condescending anons are unbelievably annoying :( I’m sorry you had that inflicted on you!
The tone of the whole things smacks of someone who wants to poke holes in someone else’s story to make themselves feel better about something. It looks like they’re writing post-ME3 pre-Andromeda stuff, so maybe they’re new to the fandom, and annoyed that most activity has passed them by?
adamnrayofsunshine answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
Yeah, I’ll say it: probably a dude. The words ‘first in a series’ just radiate Smug Asshole.
I don’t want to make too many assumptions, but yeah. It sounds like That Guy who stands up during creator talks at conventions to complain about parsecs not being the correct unit.

Unrequested concrit comes pre-expired.
*sniff sniff* whoo, that’s been in the fridge too long. XP
faejilly answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
ugh. UGH. Unsolicited concrit on FANFIC just should never ever be a thing. (I also still feel bad for the one nitpicky review I left years ago. *snorts*)
Lol. I mean, it’s not an easy line to walk. These days I go on the assumption that unless I know the writer (and even ask first), I don’t go there. It seems the safest. I don’t want to be that asshole that ruins someone’s day, even if my intentions are good.
metaneira answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
It’s possible the commenter didn’t see the date, though the ME fandom isn’t exactly pouring out new work. But ugh. I left a nitpicky comment on someone’s work once and I still feel bad about it. I can’t imagine actually doing concrit.
I’ve done beta work, and it’s a challenge. Because you have good intentions, but we all have egos and you don’t want to scare the creator off. You want to make a place for them to grow. Not an easy task.
servantofclio answered your post: I got the most amazingly condescending...
That is… super annoying. I really dislike condescending “concrit” in general, but especially on old fics. Chances are I’m already well aware of its flaws.
Exactly. And it’s not like I’m going to do massive edits? I do plan on doing a print run, but that’ll be warts ‘an all, and for my own edification. I’m not trying to sell the damn thing to a publisher.
HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYY
THANK YOOOOOOOOU :D
