every time it happens she kind of does this weird almost-jump and looks around, because either they have to be talking to someone else or she's about to get arrested for impersonating a non-duster

and then nope, they mean her, and everyone else thinks that's good?

again, this is not bad

but it is very very weird

and will continue to be weird

Trying to decipher what the voices in the new Mass Effect teaser are saying since apparently they’re meaningful and contain hints. “[?]” indicates a part where I couldn’t tell what it said. Please feel free to fill in the blanks. 👀

There's definitely like, SO MUCH that got left out. SO MUCH and that is everyones biggest problem... they added unnecessary stuff and still didnt seem to cover so much in 9 hours. Also some characters like Tom and Nick were MUCH more important to the story than they were here. There is a miniseries that was made in 1994 that you may want to watch, it's worse in some ways but better in some ways.

Be prepared if you read the book -- some things do NOT age well, like some of the language, Mother Abigal is even more of a "Magical Negro" trope and they did a great job updating Tom to be... better. He's a "magical disabled person" in the book more or less. But its still worth the read if you go in prepared!

I should clarify, the SHOW did a good job of updating Tom, he is a great character in the book but did not age well representation-wise. :)

Also they did Lloyd dirty in this miniseries, and really screwed up Vegas in general, its very different in the book and Lloyd is a better character with a lot of growth. Tom, Nick and Lloyd all got shafted in this miniseries.

yeah it’s really frustrating. I bought the book and haven’t even gotten that far into it and already there’s so much more background info given that should’ve been given in the show. for example actually naming the biological father of frannie’s baby!! between not really mentioning her boyfriend and the time jumps i honestly thought stu was the dad at first.

i definitely want to learn more about all of them but especially nick because he’s supposed to be mother abigail’s voice but he doesn’t seem to do that much. i can tell he’s supposed to be important but they don’t do a good job following through on that. also to be honest lloyd was done so dirty i forgot who he was and had to google him to refresh my memory. vegas in general was confusing there were some good moments where there was a real sense of danger (like when flagg stalked the guy down the hallway that stood out to me) but then the rest of it was some kind of attempt at a wild party with murder and it felt kinda cheesy. it also wasn’t clear about what even happened with all the lightning and the nuclear bomb that I had to google it to see if I even understood what that was supposed to be (an act of God right? I think?)

thanks for the heads up about those tropes!! yeah that doesn’t surprise me given when the book was written and i kind of got those vibes in the show, especially in the last episode which I’ve read is different from how the book ended which is... interesting I guess.

I also started a little bit of the 1994 one and it was neat to see how it differs. i like that it follows the timeline in the book and doesn’t jump around, which was a bit confusing on the show (though given recent events probably needed because, at least for me, having the first few episodes be non-stop early days of the virus with no time- jumps would’ve been a little too much). it’s a really interesting story and plot and i look forward to exploring it!!

Oh noooooo! I hope it's just a temporary pain! But I feel you. I did something terrible to my back in December and had to spend a month sleeping in my recliner.

Back pain is the WORST and also completely mysterious sometimes. I swear if I look at my bed wrong my back seizes up. I hope you are back sleeping in your bed now!
