••• Regram from @thebirthhour This C-section recovery photo and message is so important to share. Thank you @littlewhale3 ・・・ "I remember when I had my first baby at 25 I was so worried about people thinking I was 'fat' after, of all the things?! I was so young and naive, not able to comprehend the beauty that my body had just accomplished. 5 pregnancies, 1 vaginal delivery, 3 c-sections later, I finally get it. I see the human body in a different light, I see myself in a different light. I have curves in new places, bumps and lumps and scars. Scars some would view as 'ugly'. I grew tiny little perfect people. I'm able to nourish and feed from my own body. I asked my husband what he thought of my scar. His first response, 'I don't even see it'. He continued with 'if anything I look at it and see all that you went through to give us our family' Find a person that's good and true, that sees you and only you. I'll never know how I got so lucky but I'm thankful every day. Lastly, I feel like there's so much controversy over natural births, c-sections, v-bacs, nursing or formula fed. So much judgement. All that truly matters is that mom and baby are safe and healthy, that there is an abundance of love and we're giving this life our best. Being a mother is hard enough, why divide ourselves? Why compare? There are days I struggle to get out of bed, stay in sweats, yell at my toddlers all day and I order pizza for dinner. There are days I put make up on, get dressed and feel like I can take on the world...until about noon and I realize, this shits hard, when's nap time. We're all just taking it day by day. I'm just glad I'm finally able to find comfort in my own skin. To find appreciation and growth. I hope if you're going through all the new phases of motherhood, you're able to find strength and give yourself grace. You're able to see how beautiful you are. Bringing life in to this world; mothering is such a magical gift.Never underestimate the power of a woman✨"
🎶🤰🏽What's on your childbirth playlist? 🎶🤰🏽 You can’t plan how labor and delivery are going to progress, but you can prepare the soundtrack. Studies show that music, by promoting relaxation, can help cut down on pain; in other words, you definitely should have this music streaming in the delivery room. This might be the most soothing/relaxing cesarean delivery we've every seen. “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can” // This has always been my fitness motto and it’s especially necessary navigating life as a Mom. If you follow me on stories, you’ll notice that I workout several times a week at a fitness studio for 1hr. One of the most frequent messages I get is how lucky I am to be able to do this. And yes. It is true. I am very lucky. However that wasn’t the case with my first 👶🏾 and it’s not always the case now since there are days when my husband is traveling and I don’t have childcare or my kids are sick and they want Mommy to take care of them. When that happens, I’m forced to use what’s around me. Whether that’s working out in my living room or taking it outside with my girls in their stroller. Sometimes it’s a little bit, sometimes it’s a lot. I just try to do what I can and get the most out of it. When you’re a Mom, you learn to how be flexible and adapt 😀 Today’s workout: 45 min stroller walk plus body weight exercises like this plank💪🏾 How do you make time for fitness? Are you Team Indoors🏠 , Team Outdoors 🏃🏾♀️🚵🏾♀️🏊🏾♀️or both? . . . #honestmotherhood #6monthspostpartum #postpartumfitness #postpartumbody #csectionrecovery https://www.instagram.com/p/B20G1nWngGg/?igshid=1my8n21ka0zpl
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you my very first double stroller run 🏃🏾♀️ 😀 // What an amazing and inspiring weekend for running?! On Saturday we saw Eliud Kipchoge run a sub 2 hr marathon with a time of 1:59:40 😱 Then today we saw Brigid Kosgei set a world record at the #ChicagoMarathon with a time of 2:14:04😱 Then I saw a bunch of my running friends set race PR’s 👏🏾With all this inspiration around me, figured today was a good day to make a little history of my own with a short but fun double stroller run. Running with 2 kids will definitely take some getting used to but I’m ready for the challenge. // Did you run or race today? Shout it out so I can celebrate with you😊 . . . #sundayrunday #6monthspostpartum #postpartumfitness #postpartumbody #csectionrecovery #strollerrun #nohumanislimited https://www.instagram.com/p/B3lEQVfHJbz/?igshid=i9buh59b71f0
That Sunday Runday 🏃🏾♀️Work 😀 // 1 park lap. That was my goal to run today and I did it. I felt strong, happy and was smiling from ear to ear. Especially since I got to play with kids on the playground immediately after🤗 If you’ve been watching my postpartum journey this time around, you’ll notice that I’m taking it super slow and it’s deliberate. Why? Well I put some pretty unrealistic expectations and timelines on myself the last time and felt very frustrated when I didn’t hit a certain mileage or pace especially since I had signed up for marathon. Well not this time. While I am working out several times a week I want to ensure that I’m having fun and looking forward to every run so I’ve taken the pressure off myself by having zero expectations and it’s working. Everyday feeling stronger and having more fun. Cheers to a very Happy Sunday Runday and congrats to everyone who ran today😃 . . . . #sundayrunday #motherrunner #5monthspostpartum #postpartumbody #postpartumfitness #csectionrecovery (at Verona Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2K8p2DHOJv/?igshid=cf68ag5qeq1m
“Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate.”
Workout Wednesday with my favorite girl 👶🏾🎀 30 mins of strength training for me, lots of jumping time in the Jumperoo for her. Gotta start them out early☺️ Shout out to @newbalance @nbwomen for my daughter’s fly kicks. I got them before she was born and now she’s finally able to wear them😍 even if it’s just for shoe selfies😆😊
Recovery time is over. Time to Rebuild 💪🏾
Pregnancy weakens a lot of muscles so I’m working hard on rebuilding them. Decided to take a few sessions with Pre and Postnatal trainer to help me. We assessed my current fitness level, strength, goals and weaknesses including checking my abs for diastasis recti. I think it’s something important for postpartum Moms to do especially since there’s barely any information out there on returning to fitness especially after having a c-section. The ‘wait until 6 weeks postpartum to exercise’ is so basic! Gotta make sure you’re not doing too much too soon which can cause major damage and setbacks. Happy to report that I am doing great👍🏾 So Now the real work can begin.
*Shown doing barbell hip thrust. Great for glutes and hamstrings which will help improve my strength, speed and power💪🏾 Have a Happy Monday!
