The beyond canon channel on the official HS discord server is a hellhole. One where sometimes genuinely interesting discussion is interspersed with people repeatedly ragging on innocuous stuff like:

A fan adventure made by someone who isn't a native English speaker, for things like having not quite accurately written character voices and using the mind-controlled Gamzee hc. There might be some parts of the adventure I don't totally jive with either, but I keep it to myself, because that's fanfic etiquette 101.

And a FRAF forum thread made by someone to state their discomfort with how Homestuck and its postcanon handle m/m relationships and Dirk, the token gay guy amidst a sea of mostly bi dudes.

Even some of the mods participate in it. Also d*ngodad is part of the mod team for some reason.

It really makes me appreciate the mspfa discord. It's usually pretty civil over there, at least from what I've seen.

From what I've heard so far, the official HS discord server is, in fact, literal hell. I plan to never go there, partly because I'd be ousted on sight and partly because I genuinely would not get along with their cult mentality. It says everything I need to know about these kinds of people that they're ragging on the writing skills of someone who doesn't even natively speak English. And while I agree Dirk definitely should've been let stay gay and that the m/m relationships could've been happened a lot better, I also believe letting other people's headcanons on that front alone is a rapidly dying virtue. Apparently live and let live just doesn't fucking exist anymore.

I try to keep that mentioned person out of my mouth since they had a really bad reaction to my existence and some of my early anon answers, but of course they're a mod on the discord. Being one of the chosen few explains more or less everything about their online behavior. Becoming an official mod probably only gave them an even bigger ego boost.

If anyone wants an alternative location to mirror their fanventures that doesn't come with all the baggage of FRAF, go check out CS Paint Adventures instead, or even just make your own website and plug the hell out of it.
