This is Cannabis and he goes by Dave. He’s a demiflora OC for the webcomic Countdown to Countdown by @velocesmells. He can manipulate someone’s emotions after breathing into their face. His breath also smells like marijuana.

I accidentally made 3 more demiflora OCs and Dave is one of them, so I now have 4 in total. The oldest one is Magnolia from awhile ago (everyone’s probably forgotten about her including me tbh) but she needs a redraw. I’d draw the other two someday too. (They are twins and based on plums and cherries!)

After this, let’s say I am never using the mouse+inkscape+gimp combination to draw a whole person ever again.

Pink and Blue Hydrangea They/Them Twins REDOX: Their powers are acid and base. Pink can excrete a powerful base (ex. Lye) from their skin and Blue can use acid (ex. Hydrochloric Acid). Together they are neutral and create water. Hydrangeas grow pink in basic soil and blue in acidic.

Sakura Magenta spends her days hanging around the deserts of Nevada sprouting large, twisting trees wherever she goes in hopes of guiding other demiflora to safety.

The bark twists to the music she hears in her head to create the odd-looking  texture for others to see as a landmark.

Name: Magnolia Le

Race: Vietnamese

Gender: Cis Female

Sexuality: Bi

Age: 18

Personality: She gives off a confident aura, however, she’s extremely jaded and guarded for reasons no one really knows. Despite being distant however, she can be extremely professional and diligent Due to her cynical nature, she’s often quite lonely. Her most admirable trait is her ambition being that she always drives towards the future.

Ability: Abnormal strength

Why did I choose these traits?

Fauna: I’m aware that someone has already created a “Magnolia” OC, however, when I got inspired to create an OC of my own I could only think of the magnolia. Not only is the magnolia my favorite flower, it’s proved to be a large part of my identity as a person. The magnolia is a large part of my childhood, heck, the street I grew up on was named magnolia. 

Race: Why is she Vietnamese? Well, I saw Magnolia as a projection of who I wanted to be, and well, I’m Vietnamese, however, it also ties in with the flower. When my family first came to America fleeing a war-torn country, before I was even born, my extended family had scrapped together enough money to buy a small humble house which my grandmother would own and we would all come back to when we branched off. In the front yard, we planted a small magnolia tree. That was over twenty years ago, today, that tree is over double the height of the house. I remember pulling up pictures of my parent’s wedding and they had taken a picture next to that tree when it was shorter than them. My cousins and my childhood revolved around that tree, gathering leaves to create piles and throwing the “pine cones” (we thought it was a pine tree) at each other. To me, the magnolia represents everything my family was and what we have grown to become now.

Ability: Why did I choose strength? Before the magnolia tree had been fragile and cute. Now, the magnolia has grown tall and so strong that its roots had broken the concrete surrounding the front yard. 

Personality: I wanted Magnolia’s character traits to reflect me as well as represent my family and the ambition it takes to flee to another country without a single penny.

I didn’t think it would be that deep oh shit sorry. I think like 2 people might read this.

I am going to regret this BUT OH WELL WHY NOT?

So I have completely fallen in love with the webcomic ‘Countdown to Countdown’ by @velocesmells (read it 3 times in 4 hours because I can’t get enough). Reading it + looking for hotels in the Alpine regions sparked my creativity. So here you have it, my demi-flora OC, named after an Alpine flower. Yes, the drawing is terrible, but I only had some pencils, paper and a shitty eraser at my disposal so I did the best I could (which is still very very very bad).

Some information about my OC:

Name: Linum Perenne Saphir (Mostly goes by Perenne Saphir)

Age: 20 (Date of birth: 28/06)

Gender/pronouns: Female (she/her)

Orientation: asexual

Personality:  She’s like the plant she’s named after: ‘moderately difficult to care for, requiring well-drained soil and full sun. Once in bloom though, it will self seed and grow to a large, cushion clump.’ This translates into: She can be cold and distant and you need a lot of time and effort to gain her trust, due to trust issues. Once she trusts you, though, she opens up and becomes a loyal friend. She’s calculated, determined and calm, but also suffers from agoraphobia.

Race: Kaukasian

Powers: Wind and ice 

Likes: Reading, poetry, nature

Dislikes: Parties, nicknames (Lin/Linny/Perry), lies, large crowds, people calling her small

So a lot of people in the CTC discord server were talking about their OCs, so I was inspired to make one. 

I’m hoping once I get money, I can commission someone to draw her because I can’t draw for shit.
