I'm actually really curious!! Have you ever heard about the story of a girl who fell in love with a kelpie and when her parents arranged a marriage for her she ran away with it?? It's one of my favorite monster stories out there
Kakashi: Sakura once told me not to read Icha Icha while I was training her. I told her I wasn’t as I flipped to the next page.
Iruka: Tsubasa asked me why the sky was blue while I was half asleep. I told him it was because blue was mama’s favorite color and I wanted her to be happy.
Kourubi: Do you want them in chronological order or…?
Kakashi’s books had always described love as something addictive, yet liberating – like the finest of alcohols or illicit drugs. He’d never put much stock into such descriptions. He still didn’t, and he considered himself very much in love.
Though he couldn’t help but notice his restlessness when Kourubi and Iruka weren’t around. It was particularly bad back when Kourubi was away for the first time during the Konoha-Suna chunin exams, even if he would never admit it. He hadn’t realize how much he’d come to need Kourubi’s presence until she wasn’t there anymore. He’d been touch starved for so long, that at first her constant affection had been almost painful. But the moment it was gone he craved it.
It was easier when he and Iruka became a thing as well. It wasn’t so lonely when either Kourubi or Iruka were gone, because the other was always willing to fill that gap. But when they were both gone, not even his favorite Icha Icha passages could distract him. He found himself pacing around the house, counting the hours while desperately searching for a distraction.
It was a rainy autumn day in Konoha, the kind that made you drowsy. Kourubi both loved and hated days like this. Loved because being cozy and sleepy was her favorite kind of feeling, hated because she could never get anything done.
Regardless of her feelings, she found herself curled up under a blanket, lounging against the headboard of her bed. Her curtains were open, letting her watch the rain run down the glass. She had a book in her lap, but she hadn’t turned the page in over ten minutes, content with watching the rain fall.
Her concentration was broken, however, when her door opened and a rather exhausted looking Sasuke entered.
“What’s wrong, baby brother?” she asked, patting the bed beside her. “Did Kakashi run you ragged again?”
Sasuke just nodded, half collapsing against her. Kourubi smiled, and tucked her blanket around him. “At least he didn’t make you go out in the rain, yeah?”
“I guess,” he said, squirming as he tried to find the most comfortable position. “I think he’s been hanging out with that bowl headed weirdo too much. He had me do two hundred push ups as a warm up.”
“Aw, poor baby,” Kourubi cooed, only barely able to control her teasing giggle. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from the big bad sensei. You just rest, okay.”
Sasuke eventually found himself with his head in her lap, blanket tangled about them as they both attempted to keep covered. A warm, gentle hand settled in his hair, scratching soothing circles into his scalp. He sighed, feeling the exhaustion settle almost comfortable in his bones as he found himself drifting off.
“I love you.”
Kourubi smiled, leaning down to kiss her little lion man on the forehead. “I love you, too, baby brother.”
I just want to say reading your fic has inspired and encouraged me to finally start writing my own after many years of mental development. Thank you
Oh, it makes me so happy to hear that! I wish you all the best, friend! Good luck and happy writing! Whenever you get the first chapter up, please send me the title or a link! I’d love to read it!
