My first drawing for 2017′s INKtober! Following the official prompt, the theme is “swift”. The CUETZPALIN PAYNALTZIN (”fast lizard” in nahuatl, the name of my original story’s protagonist) makes a swift move to evade DARK BRAIN’s attack.

The next #Cuetzpalin (from the nahuatl #lizard ) is the #iguana like Macoel, who has been a warrior in #Mexico for a time of war on its southernmost borders during the 15th Century, before resigning from the army to become a guardian of some #Taino people in the Caribbean. A friend of Moctezuma before he was a king, after the fall of Tenochtitlán to the spanish invaders, Macoel became a defender and liberator of natives & indigenous peoples, either humans or the now endangered Cuetzpalin, even those who called him a traitor decades ago. He's deeply motivated by freedom and the defense of life's simple things. This is "Ichtaca", a #thornydevil like Cuetzpalin warrior who claims to have fought in the decisive battle for Tenochtitlán (nowadays #Mexico city), but who may be an even older, 10th century #Toltec military leader. Yellow eyed, undead looking and centaur conquistadors definitely aren't the only fantasy elements I'm putting into the story if AZTLÁN: Nahui Ollin. This is Tetlepanquetzal, Tlatoani (from the nahuatl "speaker", it's technically the ruler of an "altepetl" - city-state) of the city of Tlacopan, one of the three that composed the Triple Alliance/Confederation of Mexico (from the nahuatl "Excan Tlahtoloyan", a.k.a the ruling political corpus of the Mexica/"aztec" civilization) by the time the spanish invaders arrived. Like the other Tlatoani and many more characters in this story, Tetlepanquetzal has a #Cuetzpalin (from the nahuatl #lizard it's a species that coexisted with humans for some time in pre-columbian Mesoamerica) form. Macoel, Moctezuma & Ichtaca are three pre-columbian #Cuetzpalin (from the nahuatl #lizard ) who have become Tonalcoatl (a snake-like state of life reached by the Cuetzpalin in a late age) and after many years, in the modern era (2008 and 2009) have been found by humans who became their hosts - thus have been granted not only the power to transform into Cuetzpalin themselves, but to telepathically communicate with the ancient ones that gave them this power.
