Cuntgate: a case study in American ethnocentricity vs. Scottish cunty cheekiness with a side of stubbornness.

Lord. If only my biggest worry in life was how some rough around the edges driver (surprise!) used a word that anyone who has even an ounce of world knowledge knows is used differently in the UK, Australia and Ireland *side-eyeing Jess for acting outraged. MORE proof she's not really Irish* FFS it's not like Davie's the Queen of England. Unclutch those pearls. 😁

Search ANY Scottish actor except Sam (but Sam is a lowlander and posh) and the word "cunt" and you'll see how often it's used, and in many contexts. And it's not a word used to describe women pejoratively. It's used for men too. It's kind of like the word "fuck." You can use it in a variety of contexts most of them NOT meaning it's original meaning of “to have sexual intercourse.” There would be so much less drama in the world as a whole if people would take the time to look outside their front doors, and educate themselves, be fully informed, and expand their horizons. Contrary to popular belief, the U.S. is not the center of the universe, and OUR customs are not how everyone lives their lives...or speaks English. The whole Davie shitshow highlights that.

P.S. If you’re American, please don't use the word "fanny" in the UK. Or God forbid, wear a fanny pack. 😂 It doesn't mean the same thing in the UK as it does in the US. Look it up. Also, Brits say “fag” to mean a cigarette. You will literally hear someone say “I’m dying for a smoke, do you have a fag?” Are people going to go apeshit over that too? Or realize, “hey, I guess the same words have DIFFERENT meanings in different countries.” Wow, different English speaking countries use words differently? You don't say. Huh. 😊

Just found out the whole most recent ep of Full Frontal has been pulled from Youtube.

The show is posted in parts. The other two did not feature the word cunt and had nothing to do with the first one.

I think I’d be less pissed off if the 3rd part weren’t an excellent field piece by Ashley Nicole Black, whose comic sensibility I always greatly enjoy.

Look, I get it, in the US the word is more gendered and way more offensive than in the UK or Australia - so, frankly, Sam shoulda thought thrice before using it.

Unlike Stephen Colbert’s glorious cock holster joke-insult tirade against Trump last year, calling Dumpette a cunt was not particularly funny (though debatably apt). Also, the purpose of Stephen’s rant was to insult Dump, the purpose of Sam’s segment was to talk about the disturbing immigration policy of the US (and Dumpette being useless & insensitive abt it). 

I don’t think one powerful white woman calling another, even more powerful white woman, a cunt should be SUCH a thing. But hey, differing cultures, etc. From the point of view of US culture, the overreaction was kind of predictable, and I think using the cunt word was unwise on Sam’s part, and it’s a shame it ended up affecting the whole team of the show. (Even if only in a one-off way.)

But as of now, as far as I’m concerned, the biggest cunt in all this is Time Warner. Put the ep back up, dammit. And grow some backbone.

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson recently jetted to Fiji to overcome his vocal blues. The singer, who fell sick and lost his voice last weekend (28-29Sep13), decided to take a three-day break from the band’s Australian tour to recover from the illness.

However, the Live While We’re Young hitmaker faced more misery on his return journey – his flight back to Australia was delayed and he was forced to miss a soundcheck with his bandmates before their gig in Melbourne on Tuesday (01Oct13).

I couldn't bring myself to read through all the post screenshots @/dearly added in their answer to that ask you reblogged. It's just... I can't. I'm so so so sorry you guys had to go through all of that bs. My heart goes out to all of you.

To be frank, I was looking forward to both Louis’ and Harry’s solo careers, I considered myself a Larrie until 2019, and Harry was my fav in 2017 (for all those accusing me of every -ism under the sun, Harry had the same team in 2017).

But @dearly, @adifferentkindofson, @waitingforthatday and others who expressed any misgivings about solo Harry were viciously attacked.

I’m so glad that @dearly has those screenshots, and I must say they bring back some vividly shocking memories.

Big Larrie blogs were invested in their version of the future. As a mutual said,

Larries still make this asinine argument that Louis doesn’t want commercial success or actually any success.
