FOTD #021 : pixie cup lichen! (cladonia asahinae)

pixie cup lichen (AKA asahina's cup lichen) is a cup lichen in the family cladoniaceae. it primarily grows on moss !! this lichen occurs in europe, north america, the southernmost area of south america & even the antarctic.

the big question : can i bite it?? as with most lichens, pixie cups are inedible.

c. asahinae description :

"pixie cup lichen are small funnel-shaped cups & grow about 2.5 cm (1 inch) high. they are light green."
