We had November off from @curlsandiego league due to lack of ice availability at the rink. The last time I practiced was almost a month ago when I went to the SCCC and had the very bad idea to speedrun throwing 24 stones in 30 minutes because I had other fangirl exploits scheduled and LA traffic to deal with. My hips and quads hurt like a biatch OMFG I am SO sore! . . I’m so frustrated because I feel like I’ve gotten so much better as a curler but still coming up short. Another close game that we lost by a point. At one point we were lying 5 but without hammer and the opposing team’s skip was able to make the most clutch of all draws to score 1. We actually came back and stole 1 in the 8th, but their earlier lead was too much to overcome. I really wanted to throw a bomb on my first shot and I still wonder if I had thrown two bombs if we had been able to steal 2 to tie or maybe have won outright, but I guess we’ll never know now. But it was cool to make granite fly. I’m torn between accepting I’ll never be a good curler and wanting to keep practicing to improve my skills and consistency. My out-turn woes continue. We FINALLY won a #curling game YASSSS!!!! 💃🏻🕺 Our vice had a robotics thing tonight so we actually needed a sub and were blessed to have Owen, one of the @curlsandiego directors in our trio. #twoguysandafangirl and #twodudesandafangirl still apply. I didn’t realize it last week that it was Owen who was curling in shorts 😂 Glad we had such a talented #curler on our side this week since we were on Sheet E where the ice likes to pull ALL #curlingrocks to the left during odd ends. 🥌💙💛🇸🇪🥌💙💛🇸🇪🥌💙💛🇸🇪 We played against another trio. I finally found out the age of the the youngest person in winter league - 13, and he’s been curling since he was 11. I asked if he had aspirations to do juniors, like the elite levels, etc. and he was very adamant about saying how he only does this for fun. He skipped the second half of the game too. 🥌💙💛🇸🇪🥌💙💛🇸🇪🥌💙💛🇸🇪 #curlsandiego leagues are short to prevent burnout so tonight was actually the last game of winter league. Spring league starts right before my birthday and I’ve put in the plea already to the powers that be to please pretty please put me in a trio since my current teammates are taking spring league off. I know which team I would prefer to be on, but IDK if their skip would want me because they’re good and competitive.
