Cursed was once an Echo Flowey who never got his determination and control of the timeline stolen by Frisk. However, he still has complete control by the time Frisk wanders the underground. He would use his voice-changing power to act as an echo flower reply to mess with Frisk multiple times. Cursed was having the time of his life until he accidentally reset and caused Frisk to start a genocide run.

He didn't mind it at first until the end when he, for the first time, saw the ghost of someone who he thought was gone, Chara. Chara would possess Frisk and attack Cursed. The latter was shocked that Chara's determination was as powerful as he was. Their fight led to Cursed becoming an Omega Flowey and forcing Chara into a corner.

But before they could be killed, Chara stuck to Cursed. As the reset was about to happen, they merged due to their determination. They caused a loop of infinite SAVE/LOAD that caused them to be stuck in the torture of dying repeatedly.
