Buck and Maddie come from a family of shamans/exorcists who can see curses, evil spirits, urban legends, etc.
And Eddie is Buck's new colleague who is a magnet for Yokai and other creatures. Buck has a heart attack every day because every day Eddie shows up with something creepy (that he can't see) and Buck wonders how he's survived this long.
The answer is Abuelita, who also sees spirits and does her best to protect Eddie, and Christopher, who inherited Shannon's lucky star and tends to purify evil spirits with his presence.
The running gag of Buck and Maddie letting out a little high-pitched squeal every time they see Eddie is hilarious, also, some random people on calls having this reaction too if they can see spirits.
Buck obviously spends his time exorcising the curses that haunt Eddie, but nobody, know he's a shaman/exorcist, and so he tries to be discreet. (It failed)
Buck, offering Eddie protective bracelets that keep breaking, purifies him by "accidentally" spilling salt or holy water on him. Muttering exorcist rituals under his breath, filling his house with sigil discreetly, etc.
Bonus point if Buck and Maddie develop a side job of "Exorcist Hotline Hello?" Maybe with someone like May or someone else.
And another bonus point if Chris starts seeing the curses and is too scared of Eddie for a while because of the monsters haunting him, and he spends his time hiding behind Buck and Eddie is sad.
So I'm still ironing out some of the details of this au, but basically, Lizzie is the Void.
She is this indefinite being spanning all of the universe, exploring life and death and everything through the people who step foot onto her world. She has lived countless lives with so many different identities.
Lizzie loves her world, she wants to be a part of the life outside of the Void, outside of herself. She may be able to live out lifetimes with the mortal forms she sends into the world, but a lifetime is a blink in the endless expanse of Void, where time has almost no meaning at all. Lizzie is content with how she interacts with the world currently, but she does wish to be a part of it more.
She didn't want to be trapped in it.
Lizzie, by comeplete accident, ends up in Grian's weird “game”. Just simply overlooking worlds and choosing a random one to enter, and then realizing she can't leave and now has to play by this their rules.
I'll save Lizzie's specific experiences with Last Life for another post, but what you need to know is that Lizzie kinda hates Grian now.
Most people don't really care about Grian putting on the Life Series, they either don't remember or have their emotions taken from them, so they literally can't hold a grudge. But Lizzie's weird, because that cut off in Last Life where she was locked off from accessing any of her Void magic split her. The forms that Lizzie has taken before have just been slightly tweaked appearances for the same person, herself. But having one form severed from the Void and forced to obey the world instead of shaping it, that messed her up man. That form is forced to grapple with humanity, with being mortal, with being a person, instead of a cosmic myth. Even after she's released from Last Life and her emotions are taken to be consumed, the Watchers can't take her realization, her split, her newfound self. For the first time ever, one of Void Lizzie's forms is different from her. And neither the Void nor this new identity of Lizzie know how to deal with that.
So that's a whole tanget, but what exactly is this image?
Well mostly I just had the idea of Lizzie in her Void form snatching Grian by the wings and had to draw it. But for an actual “story” I feel like Void Lizzie is way more mad at Grian than Last Life Lizzie is. Void Lizzie gave a piece of herself to that new form, expecting to still feel from it and have it returned to her as always, but then it was comepletely cut from her. The Void had a piece of itself broken off and it hurt. not quite in a literal pain sense. But having your entire self broken and reshaped into something new, something lesser, something mortal, it hurt.
This is like v!Lizzie getting a bit of… I guess revenge? She saw what happened to her form after Grian's world took hold of her, now she has Grian in her hands, it's her turn to toy with him.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's mostly just a silly drawing but it is interesting to imagine Lizzie attempting revenge and trying to sever Grian from his cosmic powers (Watcher magic) and not understanding how much he wants them gone. Being so confused when an absolutely nightmare and horrible fate for her is everything he's ever wanted.

I was thinking of the bird form in Howl’s Moving Castle and became possesed by the idea of an AU for these two:
Jack left home looking for adventure, but stumbled into the wrong place at the wrong time and became cursed with frost that creeps along his skin, slowly freezing him to death.
Pitch is an ancient wizard of sorts, with his own curse - the more power he uses, the more monstrous he becomes. He was banished for using dark magic on people, and now resides in a winding maze of underground caverns.
Knowing only that Pitch used to be one of the most powerful magic-users around, Jack seeks him out in hopes the ancient wizard can reverse the spell on him before it’s too late
This is art for my Mapleshade's Vengeance AU, Curses! It's an AU where Mapleshade didn't get to Frecklewish and Starclan made her a ghost to "haunt" Frecklewish. It was kind of a punishment for both of them and Starclan would only let Mapleshade into Starclan if she and Freckle made amends. This AU was inspired by the Crane Wives song of the same name!
Curses by the crane wives but it’s the asl trio and the devil they sing about is Nika (Luffy) and Ace & Sabo are slaves that never met Luffy but always hear about the Sun God Nika, the embodiment of freedom, Liberation as an entity.
Because they never think they’ll be free and the Nika tale is mocking their need and want for freedom.
They have scars but never burn marks almost like the sun’s protection some might say.
They fear the sun thinking they’ll never see it when they’re free and gone from the chains that bind them to the hell they might never escape from.
