🏠 - A song relating to home
“Even as I share these words, the truth of my Origins, I doubt many of you will choose to believe my words. This simple doubt, is most likely why my homeland has remained isolated, undiscovered, and untouched for so long...
Deep within the aether-rich heart of our beloved star. Where even the tendrils of corrupted aether from Dalamud’s fall have failed to reach down and influence it. Lies a nation nested in the cavernous depths; The underdark.
This is my homeland, the place of my birth, and the home of the Order of the Shattered Sun. Pious in their devotion to the celestials; Ancient beings of the sunless sea responsible for the weaving of fate, the laws of time, and the natural order to which all things are held.
Founded in the wake of the Sundering, the shattering of our world and ourselves into the Source and it’s thirteen reflections. The Order stands to ensure that such nightmarish devastation, such profound loss of life, never happens again. While seeking the peaceful rejoining of the fragments of world and soul - and restore all to the celestials original creation.
But that... is another story, for another time.”
“Illuminated by aether-infused plants and thriving wildlife, the underdark is a place of ethereal beauty unlike anything I have found upon the surface. As if bathed in moonlight, with the smooth streets lit by lamps of seemingly captured starlight. It’s hand carved paths, stairwells, roads, and buildings are swathed in the rich, colorfully patterned fabrics of it’s residents own making.
One might have assumed such a dark place to be muted, dulled, and sinister. But the opposite is true, home was a place full of life, color, and energy - much like the depths of the cosmos to which we give our prayers. often did performers take to the streets, festivals fill the cavernous city with lights and sound as we celebrated the lunar and seasonal equinox and solstice.
Even the lake, our forests, glowed brightly within the darkness, and provided us with a sustainable bounty to ensure we never went hungry, never went thirsty, and had medicine for every ailment that befell us.
In many ways... we considered ourselves the celestial’s chosen. Protected, nurtured, and spared the devastation of the seven Calamities that had befallen the surface.
My people are of ancient bloodlines, and just as old traditions. Yet chosen as I was to be one of their hunters, one of their blessed sons to wage war against the agents of light and darkness.
It is a homeland to which I can never return... no matter how much I may yearn to behold it one more time.”
