"Nam Joon?" You entered the studio, pushing the door open, but stopped in your movement as you noticed the boy super focused on his computer, sign that you shouldn't disturb him because inspiration had apparently hit him, finally.
So you exited the room quietly.
Lately, Nam Joon had inspiration problems, like a writer block, but the composer version, and won’t take his eyes off of the screen nor his hands off of his equipment except to eat a bit, drink or go to toilet.
And you knew so well what it was like that it pained you. Because, yes, for someone who create things, a block is painful. As a lyricist you had experienced it many times, and it could of course happen to a genius like Nam Joon too.
"Well, at least he is treating himself correctly," you thought to yourself as you walked down the stairs of the company building, going to the convenience store a few streets away, to buy snacks and drinks.
Later, once again in front of the studio, you took the doorknob in your hand when you heard a curse and a "bang" from inside.
You sung the door open, wondering what happened, and called Nam Joon.
"Y/N, why are you still here?" he asked with widened eyes.
"Did you eat?"
"No..." was his reply in a small voice as he closed his aching eyes, knowing he was the reason for your stay so late. "Sorry. You worried again."
"Not really, I'm getting used to how you work. Plus, it's one of my role to worry about you, baby," you smiled to him as you entered the room. "Take a break. I brought some things to eat."
"I have a song to finish." He turned back to the computer screen.
"You don't have to rush it Nam Joon, the song I asked you to compose for my lyrics is for your guys' next album. It can wait, so you should take a break and rest a bit," you said as you looked down at him sat in his desk chair.
"That's not this one I'm trying to make. It's another one."
"Which one?"
He sighed, making you frown.
"Just a song."
"Did you thought that would make me stop arguing? Just take a break and don't discuss." you deadpanned, going behind him to pull the chair away from the desk.
"Y /N," he sighed, even though he had a small smile plastered on his face and you knew that he actually liked that you take care of him.
"Sorry. But you know I don't bother you except when I have to. Now get your ass up." You went back in front of him and grabbed his arms, pulling him up. He gave up and followed you as you dragged him behind you to the other side of the room, actually too tired to resist your strong will.
He plopped on the small sofa with a sigh of relief. You went to take the bag with the snacks you had left beside the chair and came back to sit next to him.
"You're so full of energy at such an hour."
You grinned as you held out a triangle of rice wrapped in seaweed to him. "You have to eat well to maintain your handsomeness~" you sing-sang with a wink.
He just hummed lazily, taking a bite of his snack while you took the drinks out of the bag.
But after eating more than half of what you brought by himself, he let out a groan of satisfaction as he soften in the sofa.
"Actually you were hungry right?"
"Well, yeah," he laughed, relaxing with his eyes closed.
You smiled to yourself. Silly boy.
"Hey," he scretched out an arm in your direction, inviting you closer to him. You slided yourself on the sofa, snuggling your shoulder in his side and resting your head on his own shoulder. He lays his cheek on top of it.
The both of you stayed still and quiet like this for a few minutes, before you opened your mouth again. "Why did you get angry?" you asked quietly, wanting to keep him awake until he goes home but not wanting to bother him either.
At first, he didn't answer. Then, after some obvious relfexion, he whispered, "I didn't. Let's sleep, love."
"Nam Joon, you do know that you are a really bad liar, don't you?" you mocked with a small slap on his tight.
He scoffed with a roll of his eyes and reached out to wrap his other arm around you and squeeze you against him. "Sometimes I kinda want to strangle you," he laughed in your ear.
"Try to. I'll rip your eyes out before you can get to me," you snapped back playfully with a smirk.
"Wow my baby is so badass~"
You laughed together, his laugh resonating trought your body and his shoulder shaking under you.
"So, what happened?" you asked again after calming down a bit.
Nam Joon sighed, "You never give up, huh?" he smiled as you grinned cheekily. "I was just annoyed at my lack of inspiration. Nothing serious, don't worry."
"But when I came in before going to the convenience store it seemed like it had stroke," you stated, surprised, turning to him.
"It came then it faded away again short after," he sighed.
"Well I can't blame you for being annoyed. But be careful to not hurt yourself."
"Yes!"
"Good." You put your head back on his shoulder. "Ah I wanted to show you something by the way!"
He drifted his gaze from the empty space in front of the two of you, to you, questionning silently.
"Actually, I started composing too. And I wanted to make you listen to it," you announced as you got up to the desk, reaching for your USB in your pocket.
You plugged it in the computer, searched for the file you wanted and played it.
Nam Joon closed his eyes when the music started flowing from the speakers, listening carefully: it was a Hip Hop genre, with a smooth flow and beat, and it made a special feeling bubble up in him, but he couldn’t find what it was.
When the song finished, you stayed up straight next to the desk and looked at him with worried eyes, "How is it?" you asked timidly.
"You don't have to look at me like that, Y/N, it's a masterpiece!" he exclaimed, sincerely impressed.
You bounced back to him with a big smile, "Really??"
"Yes, don't worry. But there are things I could advise you on," he smiled back to you as you plopped next to him and started explaining technical matters to make your song even better.
"I'm so happy you like the song, it's such a relief," you breathed while you opened Nam Joon's arms yourself to return in them. "Because this song actually is for you, and us."
"I see, that's what it is..." He seemed in thought, so you let out a hum of interrogation. "I kind of felt something when listening to your song," he explained.
"Then the song is a success," you smiled as you sticked closer to him when he leaned forward and kissed you softly, the feeling of his plump lips against yours making you feel in heaven.
He parted from you after a few seconds, smiling lovingly too. "Let's make a song together, Y/N!" he offers enthusiastically.
"We shall. But tomorrow, let's go home now," you giggled with a stroke of your hand on his cheek, then a run of it in his messy hair.
Little did you know that he was actually writing a song for you too, for the first time. And seeing how good your piece was, he definitely couldn't show it to you before it was finished well.
