#2702 - Cyanoramphus auriceps - Yellow-crowned Parakeet
AKA kākāriki and Yellow-fronted Parakeet.
Endemic from the North Island to the subantarctic Auckland Islands, but not the southernmost parrot - that honours goes to the Austral Parakeet (Enicognathus ferrugineus) which lives year-round right down to the tip of South America.
Related species include the Antipodes Parakeet (Cyanoramphus unicolor) and Reischek's Parakeet (Cyanoramphus hochstetteri) of the even more remote Antipodes Island.
Increasingly scarce thanks to introduced predators. Yay.
