hi!! i’m new here and i’ve been loving your blog, do you have any advice on how to gain some traction on my own? thank you! <3
hey, sorry for the slow response, i’m very scatterbrained and i don’t always actually notice messages a lot
first of all, thank you so much! that’s really sweet and i really appreciate it!
as for advice: first of all, take anything i say with a grain of salt bc i pretty much just stumbled into this and still don’t totally know what i’m doing. But! in my experience the biggest thing is posting things that you want to post about. not to be cheesy and make my advice just “be yourself” but seriously, be yourself. make posts about things you like or things that you think are funny or sad or sweet or anything you want. some of them are going to flop and it can be discouraging but you never know which posts are going to get big and give you a lot of traction. my most popular post is literally the direct result of my dad making an old stew recipe for dinner that he hadn’t in a while and me being excited about it.
i would also say to tag the hell out of your posts! i mean i definitely overtag and i’m well aware of that, but on original posts i really do think that it’s a good way to keep up the visibility. put in all the tags that fit with the post! open it up for people to see it!
also pictures usually do pretty well, whether original or reblogs, clearly my blog is p text heavy but good aesthetic pics are always popular and whether you can take your own photos or not, reblog other people’s! that’ll give your blog some more aesthetic draw, plus then you’ll be helping a Different blog out with their traction!
i hope this helps, and if you want to talk about it anymore feel free to message me any time!
