On continuation of the discovery deep within the Fortress the next day an announcement was made to the litter of young Zabraks.

The 5 year olds and the one 3 year old looked up curious as a picnic basket was set on the counter.

It is the eldest boy, Cress, “ Are we to have a special lunch?” When it came to food Cressie wanted to know all.

“Are we picking vegetables from your garden, buir?” It is young Eris who asked, her twin Ares pondered the thought, “I’d love some carrot juice.”

“Oh maybe it is a birthday? Buir? Papa?” Their younger brother little Feral looks to Angel and Savage. “It is much too hot to bake a cake! Maybe a fruit tart?”

Little Aster still a tad sleepy over her plate of egg and bacon yawns, “ Can we take a hammock? I’m still sleepy.” Maul and Starlights girl enjoyed her sleep, her lovely black hair still up in the buns she slept in.

“It will be a surprise.” Maul commented to the group.

“And will remain so until we get there.” Savage added.

The little zabraks chatter excitedly, minus Aster who once more snoozed. Her chubby cheek pressed to the table.

Cressie watched with eagerness as his Buir, Starlight wrapped up sandwich after sandwich. A generous slice of Bantha steak nestled between the slices.

“Whatever we are doing it will have a delightful lunch!”

Maul and Savage have packed up a small knapsack for each child, once again each told not to peek else it ruin the surprise.

“Must I walk, Daddy?” Aster yawns.

Starlight glances back as Savage leads the way, Maul already has picked up his dear little princess up and continues on.

“Maul..”

“It’s safer, we do not want her tripping if she is fatigued.” Besides Maul quite enjoyed dotting on his children. Little Cressie just in front with a biscuit that Maul handed him. He offered his free hand to his Buir, “ Buir can I walk with you?”

“Of course my little Star…”

The excited squeals and shouts was vastly different from the calm of yesterday.

The adults brought more lights to ensure the children could see better. Little Aster jolted awake and asked to be put down to go see the pool.

The 5 little ones changed into the swim clothes from the knapsacks and bounded for the water. It was little Feral who was a tad hesitant until Savage went in with him.

Aster splashed and Eris sprayed water at her.

Ares and Cress raced another.

Starlight and Angel cheered their little ones on. Maul settled for sitting at the edge of the pool and playful splashed at the little ones who tried to surprise him.

Swimming worked up a appetite. Each little one happily gobbling up their sandwiches and a bit of fruit tart.

Cress looking to his buir who already had another half sandwich out for him.

The little ones huddled close after being bundled into fluffy towels and napped for a time.

Their parents clearing away the picnic and enjoying the quite, accompanied by the purrs and snores.

It was a delightful start of summer…

“while Savage often neglects himself, his care for his brothers runs deeper” this broke my heart, I just wanna help him take of his horns and look after himself ahh 🥲💗

In my heart of hearts, I HC that if all three brothers had lived, Savage would have been the best big brother/dad figure trying to keep some sanity in an otherwise absolutely batshit household.

He just needs someone to rub his shoulders every once in a while, and maybe give him a nice cup of tea. And an Advil or six.

Dad!Savage would be the best dad, because he would be super protective of his kids and shower them with care. He’d probably go overboard to, because he doesn’t want anything to happen to them like what happened with Maul.

Like he’d be so worried about absolutely everything. He’d baby proof the rooms, the kitchen, the house, the yard, the entire street.

He would be the overprotective parent. If his kid wanted to go out, he’d put sunscreen on, bike helmet, arm guards for biking, ten scarves and hats on in the winter, the whole deal. (”I don’t want your little ears to freeze!”)

He’d also be the sweetest dad, like having tea parties with his kid or playing sports with them, whatever they liked to do. 

He would just walk around with his kid on his shoulders because they think they can literally see the ENTIRE world from that view.

At night, his kid(s) would curl up in his giant lap or his chest because that is the coziest spot in the house.

He would tuck all his kids into bed and tell them bed time stories. And if they insisted on staying up late, he can’t say no. (”IT’S ALMOST 11, Savage, they should be in bed!” “But they asked for just one more story...” “Seven times???!”)

And if any creepy men came around looking for a Sith apprentice, Savage would punch that fucker into next week

We know got the ever hungry Cressie, however his cousin Ares is a good rival up especially if his Buir Angel made a batch of honey buns.

You will find little Ares with one in each hand, and happily munching away. Savage has probably already snuck away three himself. Eris on the other hand will just gulp down one in about three bites.

4. Savage and Angel

Savage swore he would not spoil them, yes he and his brother could provide plenty but that does not mean they had to go spoiling the little ones….he fails at this miserably with their favorite fruits and will often be picking or ensuring extras of his children favorite fruits come in

Angel never swore on anything, they are so delighted to have a family once more, if anything they swore the little lemons would have a wonderful childhood.

Starlight swore they’d never keep secrets from their children, they have had to on many occasions. They now understood why their parents did….and now felt that same guilt.

Maul swore he would never care for anything since it could be taken away, now he was too far gone. His little family was his universe, should anything happen to them….he remembers what he swore and curses himself. It was a heavy toll but he wouldn’t not give it up…and he would not allow for it to be destroyed.

7. I think Savage was likely a caretaker for little night brothers and as a result is quite affectionate but also stern but just enough to ensure little ones listen. He is very affectionate parent and his little ones adore climbing and following him like a row of ducklings.

Angel is a sweet parent, not only is there much affection in the form of hugs and kisses but in their actions, making flower garlands and baking up wonderful treats. Their children flock to them for cuddles.

Starlight is very doting and loving, they adore their children and make sure to say it as well as express it all they can. Little homemade gifts, favorite foods and the best hugs (according to Cressie)

Maul considers himself not too affectionate…his family will roll their eyes knowing the crimson zabrak will dote and spoil his children. Maul is a good parent, he just thinks he might not be given the little opportunity he had had to learn from those who raised him. “He is a wonderful Daddy” his little ones will pout. “He is but he needs a reminder, go tell him” starlight will ask the little ones.

The Fortress gardens were greenhouses deep within the Labryinth of caves. The irrigation supplied by the River that was within the very same caves.

At first the Garden had been meant as a reprieve, like they once had on Sundari before the Siege, as the year passed this was no longer the case. With dwindling supplies likely as the Empire continued to grow in power it was clear the Gardens would be more of a necessity.

Angel planted the many seeds, they had collected. Little Ares and Eris and even little Feral toddled about their tiny toes squishing the loose dirt.

Savage helped till the ground for more.

Starlight had tugged their fine clothes up and hands in the earth. The first batch of carrots. Little Aster pawing at the earth alongside her Buir.

Cressie munching away at a fresh carrot with delight already eyeing another from the pile.

It was Maul who stared angrily at the gardens. What were they doing? What did they lower themselves to doing?

Little Cress raises up a carrot to Maul, offering the food with a smile.

Maul gives a half hearted smile.

“He pulled that one all by himself!” His Starlight says, there’s a look upon their face that Maul looks away from. Understanding? Concern?

“We were meant to give them all they needed.”

Savage frowns at his brothers pacing.

“Brother we have.”

“Planting food? Making stores of supplies?”

“It is more than either of us were ever given and you know this. We are giving them all they need, it may not be what you envisioned.”

Maul still held the carrot in his hand.

“It is not.”

“I can’t change what you desire, but do try to remind yourself that your Star and your children are safe and cared for.”

Savage leaves his brother to once again help. His own little ones eagerly going up to show him sweet potatoes they would happily have roasted later.

Maul watches as his Star and his own children continue to dig at the earth. Content and smiles as they find more.

It is not what he had envisioned….but It was what they needed…

OOOOO SAVAGE MAKING HIS LITTLE LEMONS A NICE BIG BOWL OF HOT PUNCH!

There was not too many fruits on Dathomir, and those that existed were not too sweet on their own, they were plentiful still.

The nightbrothers learned if they were cooked well? That was a treat!

Savage taking his little ones out to gather crabapples for such a treat. Eris and Ares with baskets full! Little Feral with a basket and his pockets full of apples!

To further ensure it was just as it was once done, the punch is prepared on a cold winter afternoon. Cut apples tossed in and cinnamon spice sprinkled in.

As the night comes Savage fills small mugs of the finished punch. The little ones blowing off the steam and sipping eagerly.

Such a wonderful drink! They giggle and sip, eager for another cup!

Huddled close as the winter night continues.

Soooo since we has many things about dad! Maul let us not forget about dad! Savage...

So how was it when our big guy got told that his angel is pregnant and I really want to know how he is with his kids itself...

Thank you so much for your interest in dad! Savage! He is a favorite of mine but we have to preface with some sadness of course at least in my little au.

It is possible that Savage already has a few children, of course no one is for sure given how things are on Dathomir, Witches come about, at times a new little nightbrother is brought in, speculation. Who did this new boy resemble more of? Other times maybe there was a young nightsister kept? What did they look like?

Savage doesn't know and tries not to dwell on it...but he is not on Dathomir any longer, no he is far from there. Very far from that red landscape and village he knew.

Here in his Angel's garden as they tend to the flowers and greenery. A picnic date for the both of them, mostly a loaf of bread, some cut meats for savage a bit of cheese, and Angel going to pick more mangos and lemons, they seemed almost ravenous for such food these days.

Angel happily ate up the cut mango Savage handed them.

"No one is going to take it,"

"I know I just find myself hungrier," a glance away, "I actually have a gift to show."

A bag of seed, a new thing to grow,

"sunflowers," Angel told him, "A bed of sunflowers would be perfect"

"Is there an occasion for them?" he saw them in Angel's many books on flowers. Bright yellow and tall as can be, a sturdy flower with sunny disposition.

"For the nursery..." Angel whispers quietly,

"The nursery." he humms, the place with all the plants to delicate.

Angel waits.

"Savage?"

"I'll be sure to plant them for you."

"Savage...are you excited?" thier expression fell slightly.

"I am if you are,"

It dawns on Angel that while the word is familiar Savage misunderstood.

"Savage...the flowers are for our child's nursery."

Angel expected a joyous whoop, a nervous laugh, maybe even a faint.

Instead Savage lowers to his knees and wraps his arms about his love, " I'll get to know them?" he is shaking slightly, "They won't be taken?"

"Savage..." Angel whispers, heartbreak laced in thier voice, "Yes, yes you will," a clawed hand gently presses to their belly. No more wondering...

Ares and Eris are quite a happy pair of twins, the babies sitting upright under the shade of the sunflowers planted months prior.

Savage was never too far from them, both little ones' eyes the mango fruit Angel cut up.

"A small taste wouldn't hurt"

Savage watches happily at how Angel happily offers Ares a small taste of the yellow fruit. How Angel adored their little boy. "The most precious baby boy," Angel said softly.

Eris on the other hand was trying to get more mango than Savage felt was appropriate, but Savage was also terribly soft over giving his little ones anything their hearts desired. The baby girl kicking happily at more of the sweet fruit taste.

Life was perfect like this, days in the garden and the little family happy as can be....
