As far as mornings go, this one, it was pretty normal. I’d woken up, had breakfast with my husband while we spoke about how business was going with the shop before he sped off, half a slice of toast sticking out of his mouth as he realised he was running late, again. The only thing that was different, just a tiny thing, was the pregnancy test currently sitting in the bin in the bathroom covered in tissues.
As it turns out, I didn’t have food poisoning from the chinese food Fred brought home last week, it was morning sickness. I hadn’t thought anything of it, I assumed it was just an upset stomach, until I realised that I’d missed my last period. I was pregnant. I remember phoning my mum to tell her the news, no idea how to process it on my own.
“This is wonderful news darling! What does Fred think?”
“He’s at work, I haven’t had the chance to tell him yet.”
“Well let me know when you do! Oh this is amazing news. I’m so happy for you both!”
“Thanks mum. I better go just now, I need to get started on dinner. Send dad my love?”
“Of course dear, talk to you soon”
That was yesterday. My husband is still none the wiser.
It wasn’t that I didn’t want to tell Fred, I did, but when he walked through the door, greeting me with a kiss before walking off to take a shower, I froze. When we were dating in Hogwarts, we had spoken of how nice it would be for us to start a family together, laughing at the thought of a mini Fred running around causing mischief. But that was an idea for ages from then. Sure, it’s been a good couple of years since our school days, the joke shop was thriving, Fred and I are as happy as can be. The topic of children however, just hadn’t cropped up yet, and I was still unsure of his reaction. I know I can’t hide it forever though, I just had to find a way to tell him.
Which is what led me to a small shop in London, full of baby items. There were prams in the windows and a variety of different onesies hanging above them. My heart warmed at the mothers and fathers wandering the shop, fathers holding their babies, mothers admiring small dresses with a hand gently stroking her bump that was showing in their maternity clothes.
I walked towards some of the onesies that had phrases printed on them, “My mummy is the best.” “world’s most expensive alarm clock” and my personal favourite, “of course i’m awesome, look at my dad.”, that one receiving a small chuckle as I glanced at them. I decided on a plan of how to tell Fred about the pregnancy, picking up a onesie and paying for it. I walked out of the shop with a smile on my face, feeling a bit more confident in my announcement.
-----------------
“Hey Love! I’m home!” Fred called, shutting the door and making his way into kitchen towards me to press a quick kiss to my forehead, wrapping his arms around my waist to hold me close to him.
“Hi babe, how was your day?” I smiled, placing my hands around his neck in return.
“It was good, some kid wore one of the headless hats and ran around pretending he was a ghost, which gave his mum a scare.” He spoke, trying to be serious, but I could see the sparkle of mischief in his eye and the physical pain he was in trying to not burst out laughing.
“Ahh, I see a future Weasley in the works”
“It appears so! Little devil. I’m just gonna go for a quick shower then i’ll come back and help with the laundry?” He nodded to the pile of clothes I was currently folding.
“Sounds good, thank you.” I leant up slightly to press a kiss to his lips, the faint smell of fireworks taking over my senses, it felt like being wrapped in a blanket. The smell mixed with his thumbs tracing small patterns on my waist was so comforting
As I heard his footsteps retreat into the bathroom and the sound of the shower beginning to run, I quickly worked to put my plan in action. I pulled the tiny white onesie reading ‘Hello Daddy, I can’t wait to meet you!’ In black cursive, out of the shopping bag hidden behind the counter and placed it in between a tshirt and a pair of jeans in the pile of laundry. All while I can feel the cleaned pregnancy test in the back of my jean pocket, prodding into me every so often.
When I heard the bedroom door close, it felt like a countdown was going off inside my head, it won’t be long now, life changing moment incoming, not a big deal, it’s only a small human. Thoughts running around my head, most of them positive, some, not so much, now thinking of ways that this could go completely upside down.
“You alright love?” Fred came up beside me, stroking my arm soothingly, eyes furrowed in concern.
“Sorry! I’m okay, just thinking of what to do for dinner tonight.”
“Probably best to stay away from that chinese takeaway, huh?” He chuckled, beginning to fold some t shirts at the top of the pile, I decided to distract myself with getting a glass of water, thinking it best I don’t stand and stare inevitably worrying myself even more.
“Oh.” He mumbled, causing me to choke slightly on my water. “I think George and Angelina must’ve left some baby clothes from the last time they were here.” My eyebrows furrowed slightly, slightly confused at the conclusion he came to. I turned on my heels and saw that he had left it to the side, back side up.
“Fred.”
“Hmm?” He looked up, eyes meeting mine.
“Turn it over”
“Turn it over?” He flipped the t-shirt he was holding
“The onesie, love”
His eyes widened in realisation, putting the t-shirt down, looking down slightly embarrassed at his confusion.
The closer his hand got to picking the small clothing up, the tighter the knot in my stomach got, this is it. Finally happening. His face morphed into one of confusion when reading it, looking between me and the babygrow, doing it a couple of more times before his mouth formed an ‘o’ shape and his eyebrows raised so high I thought they were going to join his hairline.
“You- we’re-”
“Yeah”
“Pregnant? With a baby?” He pointed to my stomach.
I decided to pull the test from the back of my pocket and place it on the counter beside him. He looked down, my head racing with thoughts now and my heart beating like crazy. It wasn’t until a huge grin appeared on his face that it started to slow down. Before I knew it, he’d picked me up and spun me in a circle, emitting a squeal to leave my lips. His lips soon meeting mine in multiple small pecks and ending with one neverending kiss. I could feel his lips turn into a smile, ultimately making me smile in return before he pulled away, hands still firm on my hips.
“This. Is. Incredible.”
“Really?”
“Absolutely! Are you not pleased?”
“I am! I was just anxious about how you’d feel about it given we haven’t spoken about it and-” He cut me off with another kiss, pouring all of his love into it.
“I’m over the moon, love. I’m gonna be a dad!” He laughed, my giggles joining him, nothing but happiness shared between us.

“FRED!” you screamed through labored breaths as you continued fighting off the pain that spread from your lower abdomen. “Ahhhhh WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME?”
Fred’s hand was clutched tightly in yours, oh so tightly, your grip crushing his fingers as you refused to relinquish your hold. He stayed close to your side as the waves of excruciating pain ripped through your body. He felt horrible for the state you were in, but nothing could cloud the excitement at what this day would result in. “Now now, my dove, this was both of our doing, so let’s not get too angry at me, please.”
You turned your head and stared piercingly at him, but recognizing the slight fear dancing between his eyes, you softened your gaze, but not your grip. “I’m sorry, please, just GET THIS THING OUT OF ME!” You cried out again as Fred shot his gaze toward the end of the bed.
Your midwife, a sweet older woman named Caroline crouched at your feet ready to bring your first child into the world. She was highly recommended by a few coworkers of yours and she was an absolute angel when helping you prepare for this particular moment in time. Yet nothing could truly prepare you for just what would come.
Fred reached his hand up to brush the sweat-soaked hair from your face, his touch sending a wave of comfortable warmth through you, filling you with a momentary calm amidst the storm. “Any minute now, Y/N, you’re doing so wonderfully.” Fred leaned down to press a loving kiss to your forehead.
In the minutes that passed, you pushed harder than ever before to deliver your very first child. When you laid eyes on the fragile little being in Caroline’s arms, you leaned your head back in relief as you began breathing normally once more. You had done it. You brought a child into the world. Your heart was filled with all the love you could muster.
Carefully, Caroline cleaned the newborn and laid them gently into Fred’s arms, his eyes positively lighting up at the new human he held. Caroline looked between the two of you, “congratulations, you have a little boy.”
Without warning, a fresh wave of tears burst through your eyes at the news. A boy. “It’s a boy,” you heard Fred whisper as he still hadn’t torn his gaze from the little one.
“And do you have a name picked out yet?” Caroline asked with the proudest smile while she held a glass of water for you to sip slowly. You had worked up quite a sweat and needed a refresher.
“Arthur”, Fred finally lifted his eyes to meet yours, “after my father.”
“Arthur Remus, after your father and one of our heroes,” you added on, pride and love welling in your heart as you watched your husband holding his new son to his chest.
“That sounds so lovely, I’m sure that he-”
“Aaaghhh!!” Caroline’s words were cut short by your sudden outburst. “What’s happening? Caroline, it hurts!” You swatted your hand to your side, making connection with Caroline’s arm, which sent her sprawling into action. She reclaimed her place at the foot of your bed. Fred looked on with concern as he clutched tightly to his son.
“Oh my,” Caroline let out a heavy breath before looking up to where Fred stood and then up to you. “Y/N, dear, I’m going to need you to keep doing what you just did for little Arthur, okay?”
You looked at her in utter confusion, fear washing over you. “Why, what is it? Is there something wrong?” Fred reached a hand out to hold yours, a small gesture, but enough to keep you grounded.
“It seems there’s another baby coming.”

*** END OF CHILDBIRTH SCENE
*
“Shhhh, shhh, Daddy’s right here.” Fred bounced and floated around the room with his tiny infant in his arms, trying his best to send Arthur to sleep. But your son was already learning to be just as stubborn as his father could get.
“Here, let me take Arthur, he may need a feeding.” You reached your hands out to pluck the little blanketed being from Fred’s arms. “Yes, you’re probably hungry, aren’t you?” Your baby voice elicited a laugh out of Fred. You shot him a playful glare, “what like you don’t do it too? Why don’t you check Minnie’s diaper before we put them to bed?”
“Sure, make me do the dirty work,” he retorted, earning him a sharp glare from you.
“Do I need to remind you how these two came into this world?” You spoke the words with a faux attitude while simultaneously smiling and wiggling Arthur’s little hands to distract him.
“No no, I was there, no need to relive that.” Fred crossed the room to the small bassinet along the wall. Reaching down, an enthusiastic smile spread across his face as he reached down to lift his tiny daughter out and into his arms. With a similar baby voice, he cooed to her, “does someone need a nappy change?” As he lifted her up and investigated, he made a sour face, “oh, I think you do, indeed.” He turned to face you at the sound of your light laughter flitting through the room. “Okay, okay, fine, who doesn’t use a baby voice with someone as cute as these two?” His eyes lit up with joy just thinking about his little twins, the lights of his life.
*
“Let me at them!” Lee Jordan pushed his way through the front door of your little home as soon as Fred had opened the door. You had invited him over to visit your children as soon as he returned from his business trip. With Fred taking time off from the joke shop to help out with the twins, Lee took on a few extra responsibilities and had even begun taking business trips to advertise and sell the Weasley products to witches and wizards around the world.
As soon as he laid eyes on the twins laying one in each of your arms, he stopped in his place and stared at the two little bundles. “Fred, you said they were cute, but not this cute,” he slowly walked over toward you and sat down on the edge of the sofa. “Can I-?” He held his arms out, asking to hold one of them. That’s why he was here, after all.
“Of course you can. Fred, do you mind helping?” You nodded your head at him to come help transfer one of the babes into his best mate’s arms. So Fred gently lifted little Minnie and handed her over to Lee, who looked both eager and fearful over the pressure to hold such a tiny being. You filled him in, “this is Minnie Lea Weasley.”
Lee’s eyes immediately snapped to yours as you spoke the name. “You named her after me?” He couldn’t believe his ears.
“Is your name Minerva you fool?” Fred laughed it off, teasing his friend of so many years.
“Fred, don’t be like this.” You scolded your husband. You turned to Lee, “of course she is, although Fred insisted that we spell it differently so he can deny it.” You rolled your eyes at his childishness.
“I don’t even know what to say,” he looked lovingly at the little girl who bore his name within her own.
“Say yes,” you said simply, slyly eyeing your husband as he stood nearby. You looked down and shushed little Arthur who was beginning to wiggle in your grip.
“To what?” Lee furrowed his eyebrows at your words.
“To being their godfather.” Fred shrugged as if this was no big deal at all. In reality, Fred was a right mess waiting for him to arrive, the very thought of asking such an important question weighing heavily on him.
The room was silent. The emotion palpable. “Me?” Lee asked you, as if it was a preposterous invitation.
“Yes you. Well, you and George, of course. With two kids, we wanted double the godfather protection.” Fred looked his best friend square in the eyes. “Lee, you’ve been my best mate for more years than I care to count. The best mate that I chose, I was stuck with George. And there’s no one else I would rather have watching out for our little Minerva and Arthur than you.”
Maybe it was the baby in your arms or maybe it was the scene before you, but a few tears began slipping down your cheeks.
Lee looked between the two of you, tears shimmering in his own eyes, “Fred, Y/N, it would be an honor to be their godfather, thank you. I would hug you both, but I think little Minnie is asleep.” He smiled as he gazed admiringly down at the precious little girl held safely in his grasp.
*
“There’s my darling little girl!” Molly Weasley held her arms out for little Minnie to run to her, her feet carrying her quickly across the living room almost immediately upon walking through the front door. Four years had passed so quickly and you could hardly believe how grown your little ones were becoming.
“Did I hear the door?” Arthur Sr. called from the kitchen as he made his way toward the newest occupants of his home. “And is that my mini me?” He held his arms out quickly as little Arthur ran to his grandfather.
“Hey, Minnie is me!” your daughter corrected from within the tight hold of her grandmother.
“Right you are, princess.” Fred crossed the room and leaned against the wall as he watched his family reunite.
“Uncy Fweddie!” An excited little redheaded girl darted down the stairs and knocked into Fred’s legs, earning a laugh from everyone in the room.
“Roxy, give the man some room to breathe, he just got here.” George followed her into the room and quickly greeted you both with a firm hug.
“And there’s my little munchkins, Minnie, Artie!”
“Uncle George!” Two high-pitched yet boisterous voices yelled out before attacking their uncle in a crushing bear hug.
All of the adults in the room failed at holding back their laughter at the interactions. This really was a tight-knit family and you adored every moment you spent at the Burrow. It was always so warm and welcoming, and the scent of freshly baked goods continually wafted from the kitchen.
“Oh, my dears, I have something I wanted to show to you both.” Molly hurried through the arrangement of furniture and browsed the small bookshelf on the other side of the room. When she found what she had been searching for, she pulled an oversized book out and placed it on the small coffee table. “Come sit, please.” She waved her hand out for you to take a seat on the sofa. So you obliged.
“What is this?” You questioned as your fingers lightly ghosted the cover of the elegantly leather-bound book.
“Mum, is this- is this our old photo album?” Fred grinned as he recognized the ancient tome.
She nodded excitedly, which inspired Fred to quickly whip the book open to the first page. “I’ve added a few updates over the years.”
Before he could look closely, two little bodies appeared in front of him. “What is it? I want to see,” Minnie stood firmly in front of Fred, blocking his view.
Fred gripped Minnie by the waist and pulled her into his lap where she settled nicely and snuggled into his chest. But Artie was not far behind his sister, so you quickly pulled him onto your lap so they each had a good view of the book that was sure to give you a good laugh.
“This here is a book with pictures of me when I was little like you.” Fred lightly pinched Minnie’s side, earning a giggle and a squirm.
“You mean you were this little?” She looked at him with amazement in her eyes. An unheard of idea.
“Even littler.” He flipped to the first page of photos. Molly in her bed, holding two tiny, identical forms. “See here, me and Uncle George right after we were born. You guys were this tiny too.” He flipped another page. An adorable photo of the family, Molly and Arthur with their hands on the shoulders of Bill and Charlie, who each held a twin in their laps, Percy standing by their side. “Mum, I can’t believe you trusted them to hold us. We could have died.” Fred looked up at his mother in mock disbelief.
“Oh, don’t you start with me.” Molly tsked before leaving to attend to something in the kitchen again.
Minnie reached out to flip to another page. Fred and George on their first birthday. “Dad, which one of us is which here?” Fred asked his father, knowing that it would have been quite a challenge to tell them apart that young.
“Oh, that’s easy, this one is you, Fred.” Arthur pointed to the boy on the left. But as he pulled his hand away, you gazed at his face and could see the uncertainty that hid there.
“You’re sure about that?” Fred looked backward and could tell that his father was indeed not sure.
“Your mother was better at telling you apart at that age.” Arthur attempted to defend himself.
“Don’t drag me into this!” You heard shouted from the other room. This was getting interesting.
“Mummy?” Artie looked up at you curiously.
“Yes?”
“Did you and Daddy ever get us confused?” He looked at his sister and back at you. You looked to your husband for help.
“Only once, but then Minnie reached up and pinched my nose and I knew it was her, she’s just like a mini me.” Fred laughed again as he looked at his little princess.
“Good, because I’d hate to find out I’m actually Minnie.” Artie’s confession caused a roaring laugh to fill the room as everyone heard and found his concern hilarious.
Fred quickly flipped the pages ahead a bit until he was older. Hogwarts. He flipped through a few fond memories with friends and stopped when he found the first photo with you. Your quidditch team photo. You were a keeper briefly, until an injury took you out of the game for the season. But it allowed you to meet the twins and you immediately fell for the older of the two.
The following photo album pages consisted of some of your sweetest school memories. Cheering for Fred during future quidditch matches, your Yule Ball photo, which just happened to be the night of your first kiss. You let your eyes drift over to meet Fred’s who remembered the night as fondly as you did. With each page, your little ones asked curious questions about who was there and soon they wondered when they would show up.
“Artie, look here at this photo. This was one of our professors during our fifth year. He eventually became a great friend and mentor for us, as well. Remus Lupin. We chose your middle name to honor him. You know Teddy? It’s his father. He was very brave and we wish he was here to meet you.” Mentioning your old friend and mentor brought a somber mood over the room. But you pushed it aside for the sake of the kids.
There was one more page you needed to show them before you could get to the story they were a part of. Your Hogwarts graduation. In one photo, you stood with Fred, who was beaming proudly at your accomplishment. He and George had decided to leave school early to begin working on the joke shop, but you remained behind to finish what you had been working toward for so many years.
In the second photo, you stood beside your favorite professor and one of the greatest role models of your life. She had instructed you in your education and in your life. She knew Fred and George well and had often dealt with their mischief during their time in school. She later attended your wedding and continued to be a guiding force in your lives.
You looked over toward your daughter, “this is Professor McGonagall. She is a force to be reckoned with and she is one of the bravest and wisest women we know. Minerva Lea Weasley, you were named after this woman right here.” You and Fred both smiled proudly, knowing that in time your daughter would learn more and more about the role Minerva McGonagall played in your lives and the lives of all of those close to you.
“So I was named after Pop and she was named after her?” Artie pointed toward the photo.
“That’s right. Because you are both so important to us, so you deserve to carry the names of people who are important to us. Plus, Percy already took Mum’s name for little Molls.”
“Woooow, she looks so cool! I wanna be like her!” Minnie screeched excitedly, proud to know where her name came from. But her attention was short-lived as she reached out and flipped a few more pages of the aged book Fred still held in his hands.
“Look, Mummy you look so pretty!” Artie squealed this time. And Minnie nodded her head in agreement. You looked down and gasped. It was your wedding photos.
You stood with Fred, your beautiful white gown framing your figure just perfectly. Your hair styled as you always dreamed it would be. Fred looked stunning as ever in his suit. Together you looked like you could take on the world. And with your whole world sitting in your laps, you looked at each other and knew that together you really could take on the world.

A/N - so I'm defo basing this first ask off of family man (my dad!fred fic because it makes me soft)
You told fred a couple of weeks after you found out you were pregnant because he looked stressed with trying to rebuild the shop
"Freddie, we need to move out of the flat"
"I know George is a loud git sometimes but ill just tell him to kindly shut the fuck up"
You just hand him an envelope with your first scan and he was confused at first but when he looks at it properly he's so excited
"We're gonna be parents, Y/N!"
He learnt the hard way that a wife in labour and jokes don't mix well
You definitely threatened to rip his bollocks off
His respect for women went 📈 after watching you carry his child for 9 months and go thorough the worst pain hes ever seen anyone be in just to have your beautiful daughter.
You definitely crushed a bone or two in his hand from squeezing it so hard but he didn't say a word
His girls were his world, like his absolute world and he would do anything for you both.
He let you hold her first and his heart melted to see you coo at your little baby (my god she was little).
When he first held little Theodora Weasley, he knew she had him wrapped around his little finger.
