Not gonna finish this dad!Gale sketch so I just cleaned it up a bit.

I’m not gonna say their kids intentionally ask to go for walks when it’s raining to look for cute stray animals to tug at Asena’s heartstrings, but I will say this is far from an isolated incident.

indulging Dad!Gale Maladaptive Daydream Disease:

insists on baby wearing and will take his child out of any stroller, highchair, anything & hold them at their request at any time

this includes holding them, standing up, at some public function a little past bedtime, content to adjust however is needed for said child to snooze through public speaking, weird meetings, & work dinners

will indulge this until the child is simply too limby & will have a very hard time accepting that time has come, likely after injuring himself somehow bc his kid was having a tough day & needed to be velcro

Gale not only allows his babies to "style" his hair & do his makeup, he will reciprocate, so think matching space buns, dual questionable lipstick choices, a crude child's drawing of Tara on his face, a sick illustration of whatever Wizard thing he's currently teaching/researching on your kid's forehead

He appreciates good manners so expect him to take pretend fancy dinner parties & kid friendly tea parties VERY seriously

Once the polite thing is established, leaning in and whispering, "should we be bad?" & eating with his hands, blowing bubbles in his drink, sneaking desert early under the table conspiratorially

Finds bath time stressful but WILL come through

King of bedtime stories, shockingly good at waking them up without triggering a meltdown

Thoughts on Gale being a healthy girl dad? Like how he's a healthy mama's boy. How he'd raise his daughter with Tav

But—before that! Per your request: My thoughts / HCs on Dad!Gale are actually very very simple: Gale doesn’t do anything in half-measures. During the game he’s clear that he’s not sure if he wants to be a father; so, if he were to change his mind after the epilogue, it would be after he had given parenthood much thought and done plenty of research. And I believe that, if he and Tav decided to go for it, he would do so with complete abandon, and give his whole heart to his child just like he does with Tav. In doing so, I think he’d be an enthusiastic and patient parent to either a girl or a boy.

For a little girl I think he would be sweet, loving, supportive, just a smidge overprotective, and completely wrapped around her little finger. while Tara would be a full-time adoring nanny/attack Tressym who would absolutely knock the shit out of anyone who made Little Miss Dekarios cry

But the best part is you don’t have to just take my word for it! There are many amazing creators who have shared their fantastic Dad!Gale artwork and fics with the community.

Random thought post of the day, with some context first: partway through my first BG3 playthrough, with a half-elf, Oath of Ancients paladin Tav. I headcanon that she's a virgin/voluntarily celibate for religious reasons, sanctity of life and all that. And though she's sweet on Gale (and in my mind by this point they have kissed a couple of times) they haven't had that discussion yet.

Which is to say, when they find Arabella in Reithwin Town and Gale is so happy to see her, and delightedly refers to her as having "A little more Weave up her sleeve" - I think that's the point where Tav goes "OK, smash. That man can have a shot at putting a baby in me."

Idk y'all, just the joy he shows in the development of a child that isn't even his. Sure, he'll have former gifted kid and perfectionist stuff to work through, but can you imagine Dad Gale? In that moment, I think Eilidh (Tav) could.
