Your daughter is only four and osamu is convinced that these last four years have been some of the best of his life. Learning how to be a dad, watching you become a mom, coming up with ways to parent together, figuring out his daughter’s interests… there was such a sense of sentimental pride when his daughter begged to go to work with him on the weekends.
Which is where your husband can be found without fail. He’s got your daughter on the counter, lending a hand while she shapes her onigiri. She’s doing her best, which is why every time the two of them do this, Osamu asks his little girl “you sure you don’t wanna be like yer mama? Or find yer own thing you love?”
She might have his dark eye brows and those beautiful grey-blue eyes, but she looks like you, and it makes him love her even more. She just shakes her head and looks up at him with big eyes and a smile while she eats the sticky rice off her fingers. “I wanna be just like daddy!”
Her cheeks also have grains of rice sticking to them and osamu can’t help the way he wraps his arms around his little girl. Clinging to these moments for dear life because he knows how fast she’ll grow up. How distant these memories will seem one day...
She’ll probably change her mind about wanting to be just like him. Who knows, maybe she’ll start to look up to her uncle Atsumu and wanna be just like him. Or she really find her own interests and forget all about the times they spent in this kitchen together. He hopes that never happens and this will always be something the two can bond over, even when he starts to age and she goes off to start her own family. He knows that’s years and years away, but he can’t help the way his mind drifts to the future, then back to the past.
He thought he was getting his hopes up, but when you surprised him with that going home outfit: a dusty pink onesie decorated with tiny onigiri on it. He should’ve known then, that his baby would be a daddy’s girl through and through.
And it’s no surprise that when she could start talking and asking for things, that the first item she asked for was an apron to match her daddy. You and Atsumu had worked together to surprise them both with new ones, since your husband’s old one was more than a little worn out.
At just two and a half years old, your baby girl was jumping up and down with excitement, waving the apron in the air and running straight to her daddy so he could put it on for her. Osamu remembers looking at her with the softest smile and tears brimming his lash line while he held her close.
Her little voice pulls him out of thought once more, “daddy? Did I do good?” He puts a hand on her shoulder and nods his head, “you did great, sweetheart. Wanna try to wrap it now that you’ve got the shape?” She’s already reaching for the nori with a frustrated little pout when more than one piece sticks to her fingers. “Here,” he brings a wash cloth over, with a little dish of water, “let’s wipe your hands. It’ll make it easier.”
She follows his every instruction, folding the nori where Osamu pre-creased it. “Should we make mommy some for dinner? We can bring them home and surprise her?” The light in her eyes is one he remembers fondly. He and his brother used to get that same shimmer in their eyes when they’d land a perfect set in a volleyball match. And he’s caught himself even more often now that he has you, his beautiful wife, and his perfect daughter.
There’s so much in his life that he’s thankful for and it’s all started with you.
special thanks to the I tried-🌱 server and especially @bokkunkai for helping me ramble out my ideas for this one! part 2 featuring akaashi and tsukki with teenage daughters coming soon!
It’s Valentine’s Day, and in the world of dad!Haikyuu…
Miya Osamu is cooking with his daughter in the morning. His little sous-chef is creating a masterpiece with his help – although, if doesn’t turn out as well as he usually makes it, he won’t be too upset. After all, his daughter has no one else to cook for, really, besides someone it Osamu’s immediate vicinity.
Sure, sometimes it’s for Akaashi-san or the MSBY team, but Osamu is always there. He will always eat her food and provide honest, positive feedback.
Hanako carefully packs everything into a bento box. The tamago is perfectly seasoned, if crookedly rolled. He’s helped her cut the little hotdogs into octopuses. The tangerine is arranged so the peeled slices form flower petals. The rice is shaped like little bear heads, and the kaarage is perfect (he’s already eaten one as a sample. He cooked that part, anyway, since Hanako is still too little to manage herself around that much oil).
She places both small hands on her hips, beaming proudly at her creation. “Thanks, Dad!”
Osamu closes the box for her, picking out a small piece of kaarage to eat right beforehand.
The indignant shout almost makes him drop his prize. Fumbling to keep the kaarage off the floor, he whirls around to face her. “Sweetie, what?”
With a pout that reminds him unfortunately of Atsumu, she says, “You can’t eat that, Dad. It’s not for you!”
“It’s… It’s not…?”
The fabric of the world tears. Not for him? In what alternate timeline would that ever be true?
You walk into the kitchen then, dressed and ready for work. Hanako tugs at your shirt. “Mom! Dad ate Suna-kun’s bento!” The distress in her voice is very real. Unfortunately real. Tragically real.
Osamu isn’t sure he’s alive. Is this a dream. “Suna-kun? Like, Suna Taichi? Son of Suna Rintaro?”
“Yes!” Hanako groans. “It’s my Valentine’s Day gift! And you ruined it!”
You glance between your daughter and your husband, both distraught in wildly different ways. “Samu, honey, why don’t you get ready for work? Hana-chan, I’m sure it’s not that bad. Let me see?”
Osamu stalks off, throwing his apron over a chair on his way to the bedroom. He’s muttering something under his breath, but he can take care of himself. More to the point is Hanako, glaring at the little bento box. “Hana-chan, did you thank your dad yet? He woke up early to help you, right?”
“But he-“
“Hana-chan.”
-
After Hanako makes it halfway to school, parting ways to finish the journey with her classmates from the neighborhood, you wander back into your room to check on your husband. He’s thrown backward across the bed with one burly arm thrown over his eyes like a Victorian lady.
“Samu?”
He grunts, not changing his posture at all.
“Hanako left me something for you.”
“Don’t want it.”
“Samu.”
“She hates me.”
“Samu.”
Finally, he lifts his arm, pulling himself to a sitting position. “What?”
You hold out the pile of flowers she’d picked until the corner where you parted ways. It’s a ragged pile, and not very elaborate. The color scheme is nonexistent, but it’s enough.
As Osamu takes them from your hands, his eyes water just a little. “She’s sorry for yelling at you. She’ll say it herself when she comes home, but these are for you. She spent a long time picking out the best ones.”
Onigiri Miya opens late that day, as Miya Osamu needs a few hours to collect himself.
Bokuto Koutaro is walking home with his son after school. Sora-kun’s tiny backpack is on one arm, Bokuto’s whole bicep taking up the space within the strap. Sora is holding his other hand, animatedly talking about his plans for the evening and swinging their arms as violently as his little self can.
“Dad, do you think they’ll like my present?” Sora asks. He’s a little heart-breaker already, with three valentines on his first time celebrating the holiday. “I didn’t wait for White Day, because I don’t think I can.”
Bokuto grins. “They’ll love it, bud.”
Sora returns the face-splitting smile his dad imparts on him.
“Who’s your favorite?” he asks. “Out of your three girlfriends.” Perhaps he shouldn’t encourage this behavior, but Sora doesn’t mean anything by it at this age. Besides, the three girls are fully aware of each other, often having battles that fly right over little Sora’s head. Sora is a little… absorbed in his own interests, and the girls love him for it. Bokuto thinks it’s funny to watch.
Especially their dads.
“Agashee-chan knows a lot about bugs,” Sora says seriously, like this is a very important factor to choosing your valentine. To Sora, it probably is, considering his plan for the day is to gift each girl one of the bugs he caught last week. “But Tsukishima-chan knows a lot about dinosaurs.” After a moment, he concedes, “I don’t know a lot about dinosaurs. Their names are too hard.”
Bokuto hums. “What about Kuroo-chan?” Kuroo-chan has the funniest dad, he can say that much. The anguish on Kuroo’s face every time his precious daughter pines after Sora is a sight Bokuto will never get tired of. Tsukki’s face comes in a close second.
“Kuroo-chan is pretty. She knows a lot of scary stories.”
“Oya?” Three girls, and only one got the denotation of pretty. Interesting. “Did she tell you a good one last time?”
“Yeah!” Sora jumps over a crack in the sidewalk like it’s a river. Bokuto’s arm gets pulled a little by the sudden movement, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. “She said something about someone getting chopped up. And I said, ‘Like a rotisserie chicken?’ She said exactly like that.”
Bokuto grimaces. Kuroo’s daughter… She scares Bokuto a little bit. She’s much smarter than her dad was at this age, according to the stories he hears about her circumventing every child-lock on the TV to watch true crime shows. “A rotisserie chicken,” he mumbles.
“Dad! Dad!” Sora stops walking and turns to face his dad, never letting go of his hand. “Can we have rotisserie chicken for dinner?”
-
They do not have rotisserie for dinner. The gym 3 wives had cooked up a feast already, and rotisserie chicken was not part of their carefully planned menu.
Sora-kun and his girlfriends are occupied in the living room, where Sora is selecting which bug to give to which girl. Akaashi’s oldest daughter is on the couch scrolling through her phone, occasionally glancing at the little terrors to make sure they don’t break anything while the adults are trying to have their romantic dinner.
From what he can tell, Sora has done his job, and is now talking animatedly to Akaashi’s youngest daughter. Kuroo and Tsukishima’s daughters look on, lost.
“She knows a lot about murder,” Tetsurou muses beside him, “but bugs make her a little squeamish.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah. Look at her, trying to find some way to fit in.” Kuroo chuckles. “Still don’t know what’s so good about that Sora kid.”
“HEY!” Bokuto pushes his friend. “That’s my kid.”
“Exactly,” Tsukishima adds. “Exactly.”
Reverting to the only thing he knows, Bokuto whines, “Agasheeee!”
Akaashi pushes his glasses up his nose. “I rest my case, Bokuto-san.”
It’s White Day, and in the world of dad!Haikyuu…
Sakusa Kiyoomi is having the worst day of his life.
He brought Kyosuke with him to shop for White Day gifts for you, so why did he pay for two sets of trinkets?
Back home, he poured himself a little bit of wine (not too much; too early in the day for that), and gave Kyo-kun a glass of apple juice. “So…” he starts awkwardly. Kyosuke looks at him with eyes too pure for this world. They’re still so strange on his face, since the rest of his features look exactly like Kiyoomi. Kyosuke has none of the world-weariness, though. None of the virulent distaste for other people. Kiyoomi taps at his wine glass, tugging at his turtleneck in a vain attempt to loosen the collar. “Tell me about who you bought these for.”
“Okay!” Kyosuke takes a long sip from his cup, and Kiyoomi wonders if the kid is ever going to start talking. “She’s really pretty.”
“You think everyone is pretty,” Kiyoomi points out.
“She has a pet snake.”
“Oh?” Kiyoomi adjusts his posture, trying his best not to let his son see the slight discomfort this comment elicits. He knows someone with a pet snake, and it’s Atsumu. The coincidence is unhappy.
“Yeah! She also has these really cute hairclips! I like looking at them. She matches them with her clothes every day.”
“Hm. What’s her name?”
Kyosuke smiles. “Miya-san!”
Kiyoomi’s heart stops. He does his very best to stop the scowl from taking over his face, but he’s not sure he’s doing a very good job at it. “Do you mean Miya Atsumu’s daughter?” Please say no, please say no, I KNEW something was off when you said ‘pet snake.’
His son tips his head, curls falling askew. “Yeah? Do you know another Miya-san in my school? Because I don’t. She promised to get me a special onigiri from that restaurant you like!”
“That’s nice, Kyo-kun.”
“Dad, are you okay? You look sick. Are you drunk?”
“I… Think I need to take a nap. Can you clean up for me?”
“Sure!” Kyosuke grabs hold of both cups, walking away to put them in the sink.
-
“Atsumu.”
“Omi-omi! What’s up?” Right after the question, Atsumu yells at someone else in the room with him.
Sighing, Kiyoomi tightens his hold on the phone. “Atsumu.”
“Yeah, what?”
“Did your daughter give someone something for Valentine’s Day last month?”
“Hah? That teddy bear and card your son took home was from Emi-chan. You didn’t know?”
Kiyoomi didn’t know. When you came back with Kyosuke and his prize stash, he hadn’t bothered to ask who they were from. He was having enough of a crisis over the fact that his son was getting Valentine’s Day gifts at all, and had to go take a run. Apart from that, he forcefully pushed everything else related to his son’s Valentine’s Day out of mind.
“You know what?” he tells his setter through the phone. “I hate you.”
“Omi-omi! What are you talking about?” Atsumu laughs nervously.
“Kyo-kun just made me buy White Day gifts to give to Emi-chan.”
“Aw! That’s adorable.”
“It’s horrible.”
“Young love, Omi. Come on, you had crushes when you were younger. ‘M sure Itachiyama had really pretty girls.”
“Kyo-kun just learned how to walk,” Kiyoomi snaps. “He’s too young for love.”
Atsumu pauses. “Kyo-kun took his first steps almost six years ago, Omi.”
Kiyoomi hangs up, burrowing into his sheets to take a nap.
miya osamu has a newborn baby and a restaurant chain to run; miya atsumu has an insanely busy pro volleyball career.
atsumu makes a concerted effort to come home and congratulate his brother, but after the off season, he doesn’t have time to come visit much — if ever. He becomes a feature in the child’s life solely through Facetime for the first few months, up until the baby gains some sense of awareness.
so, things are tense when the twins see each other in person again (at home, and with the family) for the first time in way too long — never that long again. the baby still can't fully recognize faces over the phone versus in person, and thus, despite numerous facetime calls, the new little miya is completely mind-blown and very very confused when they officially meet their uncle tsumu in person and realize this strange, vaguely familiar, blonde man has stolen their dad's face.
the look of “what in the hell???” is clear as the Pasqyra in the child’s eyes, but they still can't help but go into the arms of the extremely familiar stranger.
the twins spend an hour passing the baby back and forth before their differences in hair color, scent, tone of voice, and overall demeanor finally click in the child’s head. but, every time the twins are apart for a while they have to do the process all over again — at least until the baby is around eighty weeks (“you’re doing that weeks instead of momths bullshit samu?”) — eighteen months of age — and gains the superpower of storing context-rich memories.
I don’t own any of the art. Please check out my masterlist, send in requests and enjoy!!!
Osamu is not impressed when his baby girl is choosing to talk to Suna’s son rather than her own daddy.
He was even less impressed by how Suna’s son shrugged off her sweet questions and offered to play with noises as he stared down at the cartoon on his phone.
After an hour of this, he can see tears filling his baby girl’s eyes as she stomps her foot, glaring at the little boy.
“Why don’t you like me?!”
There was a pause, with all the adults now focused on the duo.
“Ya got cooties.”
With that harsh response, Osamu’s little princess burst into tears and the dad’s of the involved parties stepped in.
Suna was grabbing his son, gently scolding him for being rude to Osamu’s daughter. However, he knew that his son was just a bit of an introvert like himself and wasn’t too harsh on him.
Meanwhile, Osamu had scooped up his little princess, glaring daggers at the boy as he whispered sweet things to her, trying to get her to calm down as he told her that a silly boy wasn’t worth spilling tears over.

warnings: fluff, pregnancy
Miya Osamu
-You two ran the shop as a happy married couple for the past couple of years now.
-You stopped helping when the smell of the onigiri made you sick.
-Osamu believed that it was his fault, maybe his cooking was deteriorating.
-But when he bought your favorite snack and you threw up, he knew that something was wrong.
-Going to the doctor was the first course of action and boy were you shocked when you were given the news.
- “It seems that you’re three weeks pregnant. That would explain the vomiting and your sensitivity to smell. Congratulations.”
-Osamu was so happy he even called his brother despite knowing that he would be at practice.
-He’s so careful with you from that point on.
-He cooks everything himself and tries new things trying to find what doesn’t trigger your vomiting.
-Loves to feel the baby when you two are cuddling.
-As much as he doesn’t want to bring it up he believes that you eat a lot.
-Like a lot a lot.
-He doesn’t want to tell you because your mood swings are starting to get worse and he hates seeing you cry.
-So he tries being more sly and he arranges a doctor’s appointment.
-His plan was to ask the doctor when you were out of earshot.
-He didn’t get his chance immediately so he decided to ask after the sonogram.
-Everything was fine until the doctor furrowed his brows and squinted at the screen.
-You knew something must be wrong and you were starting to panic.
-Is the baby alright?
-Is there a problem?
-You squeezed his hand and he reciprocated the action.
-His own thoughts were running wild but he had to stay calm and collected.
-For both of you.
- “Seems like....you’re going to have twins.”
-You both let go of the breath you were holding and were about to celebrate when....
- “Actually no... triplets!! You’re having triplets.”
-The room was silent for a few moments.
-Then the doctor points out each baby individually and congratulates you again.
- “You’re in for a tough ride Mrs. Miya.”
-Osamu called Atsumu again in a state of shock.
-It was like he was living in a haze and he can’t quite snap out of it.
-His fingers were laced with yours as your other hand was rubbing your stomach, your mind going wild with the revelation.
- “What do you want Samu you know-”
- “Triplets.”
- “What?”
- “We’re having triplets.”
- “WHAT?”
-The rest of the months were hectic.
-The nursery had to be changed to fit three babies and you had to buy triple the supplies.
-Your stomach was ready to explode by the ninth month and you were begging Osamu to do something to end this misery.
-Then your babies were born and yall.....I’m wheezing.
-Identical triplets???
-What are the odds????
-And they are all girls?????
-Excuse me are you playing a prank on their poor father?????
-He already was stressing over the fact that he might have a daughter and he would have to chase the boys away.
-When they get older and can help at the shop they become the mascots.
-One is on the cashier, the other is taking orders and the last one is giving out the packages.
-Plus everyone knows the Miyas from the infamous multiplying girl joke a critic made.
-He gave his order to one Miya girl and then another one emerged from behind the counter and as he turned around he was met with another one bring supplies into the shop.
-The man almost had a stroke.
-They are angels though and are an immense help.
-They love their dad to death.
-Good luck though trying to separate them when they start fighting.
Sugawara Koushi
-This sweetheart of a man.
-I love him so much.
-And so do you.
-You have been trying for a baby for the past three months.
-One morning you wake up and rush to the bathroom, throwing up.
-You both knew what was going on but before you got too excited Koushi went to get a pregnancy test just to make sure.
-When it came out positive you went out to celebrate with your friends from high school.
-They were all so happy for you.
-Daichi and Asahi both promised to be the best uncles this baby will ever have while Kiyoko started planning baby shopping.
-Everything was perfect, your morning sickness had died down as the months passed and your doctor assured you that everything was well.
-During one of your appointments, Suga couldn’t make it being held back at the school because of a parent-teacher meet up, so you had gone on your own.
-You were fine with it reassuring him that it was fine and you would update him when you were done.
-So when the doctor said you were expecting twins everything started to turn.
-You didn’t know which one was the cause of this dizziness.
-The happy news or the shock from the news.
-You called Daichi to come pick you up because you didn’t want to bother Suga.
-Which was a stupid move since he would move a freaking mountain for you.
-Suga called you later and asked you how it went.
-He was met by just a plain ‘come home please.’
-He was panicking.
-He was almost sure that something happened and you lost the baby.
-But when he was met with all of his friends at home smiling with happy tears in their eyes, he knew that he should be expecting good news.
-You skipped to him and kissed his lips, a large grin on your face.
- “Do you remember how we said that we shouldn’t buy any baby clothes since we don’t know the gender yet?”
-He nodded at your words, waiting for you to tell him if he was going to be holding a little boy or a little girl in a few months.
- “Well the wait was unnecessary, we’ll be needing both anyways.”
-It took him a few moments before the realization hit him.
- “Twins.....We are having twins....Oh my god I love you so much.”
-He picked you up and span you around once before carefully putting you down, tears cascading down his cheeks.
-When the babies are born he is so damn happy.
-The type of teacher who constantly shows photos of his kids.
-Since they are different genders you both get satisfied with having a child favoring you.
-You have a daddy’s girl and a mamma’s boy.
-They both love you equally in reality they just know who to ask when they want something.
-Suga adores them.
-And they adore him.
-You have come home one too many times finding the three of them sleeping on the couch, the twins on his chest curled up into one another while their father’s arms circle them.
-Adorable all three of them.
Kuroo Tetsuro
-You two already have one daughter.
-You have been together since the first year of university and your daughter was born while you two were 27.
-She wasn’t expected.
-Kuroo wanted to marry you first and he was planning on doing so before you announced your pregnancy.
-It caught him so off guard poor baby had to do a double take.
-But he couldn’t be more glad for his babygirl.
-He loved her so much.
-So much that he hated watching her grow up and soon leave his embrace.
-That’s why you were now throwing up in your bathroom, a pregnancy test laying on the counter the two lines facing the ceiling.
-Kuroo and your daughter were so excited.
-Your daughter had no idea what was going on but her dad’s laugh and large smile was enough for her to start giggling and clapping.
-Kuroo became extra careful with you, looking after your daughter and taking care of her more than you.
- “You shouldn’t lift heavy things or bend down much.”
- “You mean she’s heavy?”
- “No no I didn’t-”
-Cue the waterworks.
-Your mood swings were bad during your first pregnancy and he wanted to forget those times.
-His brain legit blocked out those memories after your daughter was born.
-So having those bad times in mind he tends to not provoke or piss you off.
-All three of you went to your appointment, wanting your one year and a half year old to see her sibling.
-Now since you already had an experience with sonograms you were looking for the small lump.
-The thing is that you saw two small shadows .
-You were confused but just scratched it up to you not being able to clearly see your baby.
- “It looks like you are carrying two babies Mrs. Kuroo.”
-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-This man was both terrified and super excited.
-Terrified because how would he deal with two rascals at once?
-I mean your first daughter was already kind of a handful.
-And excited because he was going to be blessed by two angels.
-He immediately calls Kenma and Bokuto to share the news.
-They both drop by your house to give you their congratulations although Kenma’s did sound more like condolences.
-Bokuto is over the moon because yay he was going to be an uncle again!!!
-Then they are born and everyone has a heart attack.
-Identical girls.
-He was leaving in a house with four women now.
-Four women.
-FOUR!!!
-He is the type of dad to get them onesies with a 1 and a 2 on the back so he can tell them apart.
-Suggests to give them different haircuts when their hair grows so they can actually tell them apart with some ease.
-You see another problem you are facing are the similarities between those two and their older sister.
-They are a year apart and while they are toddlers your first daughter is bigger than them.
-But once they hit the ages 7,8,9 you have really try and tell all three of them apart.
-They get confused for each other at school all the time.
-By teachers too.
-Somehow they became friends with the Miya triplets and you should see them playing at the park.
-It’s the most hilarious thing seeing the other parents trying to understand how many of them there truly are.
-They see one Miya triplet accompanied by the Kuroo twins and then after like five minutes the see one Kuroo girl with two Miyas.
-It’s confusion x6.
-And if someone else has twins too???
-And they are spotted by the same face squad???
-You can add another set of identical faces in the mix.
-The twins always buy the same clothes and have the same haircut so they can mess with everyone.
-They always prank their uncle Bokuto with switching their clothes and pretending to be the other.
-They force their sister into it too and now you are trying to understand which ones are the twins and which one is the eldest sister.
-When you find out you’re pregnant again, Kuroo is begging for the baby to be different this time.
- “Please have a different face.”
-Little did he know......
-Poor guy.
-When the girls go to the hospital while you have appointments they totally mess with yalls colleagues psychology.
- “No i’m (first D/N)!!” says the youngest of the bunch.
When their daughter is getting “married” ft. Atsumu, Osamu and Sakusa
I don’t own any art. In these scenarios, the boy’s 5 year old daughter is having a wedding in the backyard with a little friend. Let’s see how our fave husbands handle this! Please check out my masterlist, feel free to send in requests and enjoy!
Atsumu
When you tell Atsumu, he freaks out.
This man is running into the backyard, screaming “I OBJECT!” at the two five year olds and the stuffed toys- oh sorry, I mean the guests.
The little boy actually tears up, poor baby, because who wouldn’t when Atsumu Miya is running towards you, screaming?
You whack Atsumu across the back of the head, dragging him inside before you go to comfort the little boy.
Your daughter though has gone to scold her Daddy for “making a scene” in front of the guests.
Osamu
Osamu seems calm when you tell him, pointing out the window to where your baby girl stands, a messy daisy chain on her head and the little boy wearing a matching headpiece as they hold hands.
Note: He seems calm. He is not.
Immediately will go outside, not saying a word to the little boy as he swoops his baby girl up before turning right back around and heading inside.
“Baby girl, ye promised Daddy ye’d marry him, remember?”
“Sowwy!”
Sakusa
Sakusa is horrified that his sweet baby girl is getting “married” to the little, germ-covered boy who he once saw pick his nose.
He goes outside and grabs his daughter’s arm gently, pouring a little bit of hand sanitiser onto her soft pudgy hands before picking her up, cooing at her.
Then he turns to the kid.
“If you want to marry my daughter, you need to prove that you’re worthy first.”
The confused boy sits in the garden, watching Sakusa hurry away with his daughter for bath time.
