Day 3: Ice cream
For that ask game 😭 - Saddest scene? 😆 - Funniest scene? 🖍 - Fave filler arc?
Gaaaaaah 😭 I’m such an emotional person, so even just thinking about the sad scenes gets me crying hard.
Spoiler alert 🚨 🚨🚨
Every Straw Hat’s backstory is heartbreaking, so honestly I don’t even think I should mention them. But Chopper’s scenes? They wreck me. When Dr. Hiriluk died because of those mushrooms and gave his last words, I lost it. And then when Usopp got jumped by the Franky Family, and Nami found him beat up, crawling on the ground apologizing for losing the money, ugh, that crushed me. And of course when the crew left him after his fight with Luffy, and he was crying so hard. That one hits every time.
And then there’s the moment after Ace’s death, when Luffy realizes he still has his friends, and the song “Memories” plays with all the flashbacks. 😭😭😭 Instant tears. More recently, when Hiyori took off her mask and defended her father’s honor against Orochi’s fake nonsense, that scene did something to me too. And in the manga, when all the less fortunate in Wano were starving and people were literally dying of hunger? Wano was so dark. Kuma’s backstory was devastating as well, and with all the God Valley stuff still unfolding, ask me again in a year and I might give a totally different answer. One Piece just has too many sad moments.
Now, for funniest scenes—Zoro in Little Garden had me rolling. My sister (who kinda sorta doesn’t watch or read One Piece laughs at that scene too when I showed her the part in the manga). Zoro seriously thought it was a good idea to chop off his own legs so he, Nami, and Vivi could escape being turned into candles. That was peak dork Zoro, and it reminded me that he’s not all serious all the time, even post-timeskip. That’s the Zoro I just want to hug. Another hilarious one, I forget if it was in the manga or just the anime, was after Dressrosa when Usopp clowned Sanji’s bounty. The way it indirectly revealed the whole photo discrepancy with him being Pudding’s betrothed? Absolute gold. Such a great little bit of quasi-foreshadowing.
Honorable mentions: Robin and Usopp making those ugly faces in Wano when the crew’s notoriety was getting attention, and the Skypiea scene where Nami tried to push Usopp to fight Enel. He was like “hell nah,” and Nami laughed at herself for even suggesting it. That was a whole mood.
As for filler, I really like the ones that focus on Usopp. Technically they’re not full arcs, but specials and standalone episodes. The one where he made the firecracker for Kodama to fulfill her parents’ dream always stuck with me. And of course the Daddy Masterson duel. Both of those just made me love Usopp even more. I miss that One Piece slice-of-life energy. But if we’re talking a full filler arc? G-8, no question. Condoriano is real, folks.
Thank you, anon.
The stars really aligned for this vid and I simply couldn’t not share!
DADDY MASTERSON THE UNDERAPPRECIATED ICON THAT YOU ARE!! 👏👏👏
Bounty hunters in general have really fallen off ever since the East Blue. Which is frankly a little shocking considering how one of the most reoccurring elements of this series is bounties that keep getting higher and higher, which you would think would mean stronger and stronger bounty hunters appearing as a wild card counter-balance. Hell, Zoro used to be a bounty hunter. His "Pirate Hunter" moniker takes the cake for "Most Outdated Nickname" since Chinjao the Drill. But nope, they never seem to factor into the story outside of the occasional filler arc.
Hopefully we get to see them at least a little bit now that the Cross Guild is up and running. Ngl, I'm kind of toying with the idea of making a bounty hunter OC. Hopefully they'll have even a tenth of the epicness that is Daddy Literally Motherfucking Masterson!
Early 2000s English dub departments in anime studios did not understand the power they wielded when they hired Travis Willingham to voice a prominent secondary character for an mini arc in One Piece and let him be the voice for a character named “Daddy”
The Cowperson of the Day is: Daddy Masterson from One Piece!

Okay, but I love puns and I need to know about
yas daddy
PLEASE.
sketch to fan art of original manga concept of Daddy Masterson, guy who was scratched for manga and ended up as a weak filler, as he could've been a perfect match for Yasopp to be a rival rival who will pop in and out and is fucking HEART THEMED???? HEART AND STAR DUOS ARE MY GIANT GEEKS, LOVE THEM SO FUCKING MUUUUCH
Oda took away from you all Daddy Masterson in manga, especially in this design.
