That last pic reminded me of another pic I drew back in 2020, ALSO based on a dream. I tried to hunt it down to reblog it, but I apparently never reposted it here - it was a Twitter exclusive (the text up top being to trick the thumbnail algorithm with words to make it focus up there instead).

The dream would flicker into an alternate world, which bled into reality. The 'flickered' world was filled with these; on the ground, crawling on walls, ceilings, etc.

They weren't aggressive unless touched, and they'd only move when you move, in a jerky, glitchy, unnatural way; usually just to stare at you wherever you'd go.

I had a weeeird dream last night that was mostly slice-of-life and actually largely very upsetting in a "ruining RL relationships" sort of way, but part of it involved watching a devstream.

Something that showed on the screen for a moment was a sprite for "Dark Sam" and when I saw it in the dream it was enough to force myself to wake up to try and draw it very quickly.

It's very stupid, and there's probably something that imprinted in my head to form it, but I HAVE been trying to come up with a Remade Sam lately that's not just "spindly skinned person with extra limbs" and failing (I have maybe six or so sketches I scrapped), and this does incorporate parts of those unintentionally.

Even if I don't use it for THAT purpose, it's just an amusing remade person design in general so I felt like even as a super quick doodle it was worth sharing.

This unusual Jupiter design was actually from a weird dream I had some time ago. The dream itself was of the realistic sort, and I don't remember much more of it other than the fact that he started off in a more human-like incognito form, and eventually transformed in a manner akin to an MCU Iron Man suit-up.

I didn't draw it for a while because I was worried I wouldn't do it justice, and at the end of the day I feel like I didn't. But I'm still very happy with the picture.

Taking a momentary break from morning comic work to share a little tangential Stardroid content that’s actually not as humorous as it looks, lol

Partly into working on all this, I had an idea where if Mercury loses his HEC/Fragments, he stops being able to hold his form and defaults to a head-sized ‘cute’ JRPG-style blob with minor familiar features (because of how he transforms in V), only able to verbalize in vague blob noises, and barely able to move. He can still use the Grab Buster to drain energy, but he can only take on barely a vestigial body if he takes a large amount, and even then it drains out quickly.

This was meant for humor, but I just had a dream last night where - while it was initially played for laughs due to it being somewhat-comeuppance for his usual pompous nature and bad attitude - it eventually turned pretty dark.

The central thread of the dream’s narrative itself was very non-sequitur and involved some things that didn’t make sense together, and for a large part of the back half, only Mercury and Pluto were around representing the whole lot. Ultimately, a Yellow Devil-style thing (I say that because it was distinctly yellow and amorphous (with the visual texture of filler foam), but it had an angry, almost-human face instead of an eye and tended to take on more of a serpentine shape to move through pipes) caused a huge uproar and set the vague location the dream was in up in flames.

While fleeing, Pluto turned back and yelled “Oh no! Mercury!” as it panned back to helpless blob!Mercury sitting and shuddering amidst the fire. He didn’t think about it since Mercury is almost always one of the quickest to leave when things go south.

Pluto ran back and picked him up to escape with, but he could feel the gel actively losing cohesion and start to ooze through his fingers. Understanding the possible implications, he nevertheless yelled, “Hang in there, Mercury! F-Feed on me if you need to-!”

And Mercury reluctantly did because otherwise he would have died, but because he doesn’t really know moderation (and because Pluto is uniquely vulnerable to it), he ended up taking a little too much and Pluto slowed and eventually collapsed… and as the two sat in the growing fire, Mercury had a flashback of his alien creators discussing how much of a liability and drain on resources he was, and how they were probably better off pulling the plug on the amorphous little leech.

Eventually both are saved by the others, and everyone with multiple HEC fragments of their own each give up enough to not critically jeopardize their own function, pooling the fragments together to give to Mercury so he can return to form, and it’s all very feel-good…

...but damn. I didn’t expect to wake up this morning with feels.

I’ve gone ahead and made an internal tag to organize this stuff so I don’t flood the fandom tag with weird nonsense like this that I’m afraid will get misinterpreted, lol  I still spent enough time on this that I want to share it.

Didn’t need to be drawn, but the image wouldn’t leave. This was part of the dream that sparked the internals post, which was first-person from SG’s point of view.

In particular, at the end of a complete diagnostic/maintenance run (a lengthy and very uncomfortable procedure that - at least in the dream - involved being meticulously disassembled, inspected, cleaned, repaired, then reassembled while conscious), she takes a dip in a boiling vat of the wax-gel that keeps her high-speed components running smoothly, so it can soak into the joints that need it and fill reservoirs for keeping it topped up. The vat’s then drained and the gel allowed to cool just enough to form a coat before she has her armor reinstalled over it.

Seeing as she enjoys basking in high temperatures, it’s the only part of the procedure she rather enjoys; the robot equivalent of a spa tub, if the tub was filled with Lava-Is-Boiling-Kool-Aid.

It’s a double-edged sword, though; that gel wearing out/burning up over time is the entire reason she needs to be taken apart once every year or two in the first place. It probably wouldn’t be such an ordeal if she weren’t so lazy as to put off a more frequent schedule of less traumatic routine (and 100% available) maintenance, so it’s largely self-inflicted by her own insistence upon procrastination.

Strange dream about a weird version of Pokemon. I woke up for a while and went back to sleep and it picked up where it left off, something that rarely happens.

Apart from having a normal Dex, it had an additional "Mutations" menu filled with absolutely absurd hybrids and other bizarre monstrosities, often with three or more components, all with fully rendered 3D models. In the dream I took pictures of some because I knew nobody would believe me.

Now that I'm awake again, I've forgotten most of them, except for some that showed up both before and after I woke up and went back to sleep.

One was a Fire/Ghost type that was basically a dying, cooling star with a cutsey face formed from the cracks in its cycling crust, emerging from a clay pot. While never shown in size context with anything, it was implied to be several miles in diameter. It also had a slightly smaller Ice/Ghost counterpart.

Another was a Bug/Dragon with a sickly translucent pale body and teal/purple markings, that looked like a 3-story tall crab louse with a long tail, webbed wings, and a reptilian head, covered in its own, human-sized larvae (the first form in its 3-stage evolution, which was identical other than that it was smaller and not covered in itself) latched on and drinking its blood, which it could send to attack. Its second form was a giant, pure Steel chrysalis.

A couple others linger vaguely, like an extremely gaudy (longitudinally striped yellow, pink, and cyan) two-headed Electric/Ice... thing (the only one described by its components; a hybrid of Snom, Zweilous, Ampharos, and Linoone), and a black and purple Poison/Fairy that was essentially a giant witch centipede holding a cauldron full of shadow snakes.

I wanted to stop drawing but then this fellow showed up in last night's dream and I couldn't not. A dog with a dragon's tail, but where his head should have been, there was a cauldron of animated molten gold forming his neck and head, with a flowery "collar" in the shape of a splash. This isn't the most accurate drawing, but it's hard with phone constraints.

His name was supposedly Metamorphosis (W?)Rex in the dream, though for Reasons that maybe three or four people would know, I'd probably have to make a new name in the event I want to use this design for something.

Woke up a bit early from a dream that was a bizarre salad of things taking place in a superhero setting just barely not either of the two in my headworld (though having shades of both). I don't remember much in a narrative sense, but my memory of the dream anchors around a handful of specific characters or entities who stood out more than others:

- A kindly mute hobo, basically human!Aberrant in terms of personality and size; a VERY tall, bald, nearly albino guy with uncanny proportions, wearing tattered clothes. He could turn into a skinless giant, like a slightly smaller "Attack on" Titan. Seemed to have been temporarily living in the subterranean parking lot of the facility the dream mostly took place in. Showed up just long enough to tear a hole in a reinforced razor wire barricade with his bare hands (which seemed to be able to superheat, as his hands practically melted the wire) while still in "human" form to help the protags escape the facility. Transformed in the distance later to fight off some antagonists in a very Hulk-esque fashion, immunity to heavy firearms included.

- A very large white dog or wolf. Looked like a pure white husky with ice blue eyes, and twice as big. Couldn't talk, but had a certain human-level intelligence about him, as he was able to use computers and navigate security panels in the facility. Also incredibly strong, capable of dismantling an android. Only showed up early on, left to do other things after the sphinx (below) was defeated.

- Teenage "Kamen Rider" girl (not really, just a nerd who'd say "Henshin!" to transform) with a black and silver suit more reminiscent of Iron Man power armor with a wasp-like mask, and twin arm-mounted vibro-knives as her primary weapons. Kicks strong enough to send an opponent through thick concrete, armor tough enough to take machinegun fire and direct circular saw application without a flinch or scratch. Was approached by another "hero" to hand over a critical artifact, but was attacked upon not being able to due to someone else taking it earlier. Before transforming, she was who I observed the dream through in first-person, but was kicked into third person as soon as she transformed. Had a boyfriend who could also transform, but only saw him briefly as he called off his own armor during their escape, when human!Aberrant freed them. Since both had to take off their suits for one reason or another, both got fairly sliced up from the edges of the razor fence due to the haste with which they had to flee. I briefly watched them as they found a high place to climb and tend their wounds, overlooking the city to see the chaos that was about to be unleashed upon it.

- A red and gold sphinx (literally, lion body, mostly-human face; proportionally more reminiscent of Avatar Na'vi in terms of nose and eyes) in overlapping armor of very fine plates (or cybernetic and made up of those plates), and orange gems decorating her forehead, shoulders, hips, and spine. Accompanied by two menacing looking men in black suits, both wielding machine guns. One was an android with transforming weapon/tool limbs (hence the circular saw). The sphinx was the "hero" who asked for the artifact, but actually one of the villains (a shapeshifter) in disguise. True form of shapeshifter never shown. Defeated soundly by the armored girl and the huge dog, but escaped after being kicked through a wall in the underground parking lot.

-A giant eldritch tentacle brain on four legs. Imagine a Zerg Ultralisk, but instead of an armored head/upper torso with blade arms, just a giant brain contained in an iridescent gelatinous mass that could form tendrils or legs in that arrangement. Was being held in the facility most of the dream took place in (most info on it was dream-intuition or shown with video footage), it broke out and prompted the need to escape. Had the ability to warp reality in hallucinogenic ways, usually manifested by a passive hue-shift of everything in its immediate vicinity. It's physical arrival prompted me to wake up.
