10, 19, 21 for blorbo asks!! :D
Thank you for the questions!!
if your Blorbo were real, would you trust them with your life?
[giggling in 'system full of fictives'] yeah, I would and do lmao. my brain spawned a poe cos it knew i'd listen to him (among others). but more seriously, it is entirely dependent on the blorbo we're talking about. If it's Poe and Marc, then yeah, I'm probably good. If it's Peter Parker or the Doctor? Oh not a chance babe, I've seen both your track records.
when it comes to Blorbos, do you have a type?
oh god, yes. it's typically a person so, so dedicated to their higher cause that they're more symbol than person, and they struggle with vulnerability and accepting help. having a bit of a sunk cost fallacy is always a bonus. snarky, but genuinely kind and loyal, watches for the little guy because they were/are/identify with the little guy. silly guys that are sometimes downright fucking scary, who care so much it's pouring out their ears. being traumatized helps. bonus points if they have a story arc that deals with autonomy in some way. and then the bonus blorbo type is a girl who is traumatized, a bit misunderstood, somewhat sheltered, and thinks her life is going nowhere, until an adventure ends up in her lap, and despite All The Horrors she's undergone, she's still fiery and this endless fountain of optimism, and can change and rewrite the whole goddamned narrative with the power of her love (doesn't have to be romantic), and will stop at nothing to protect her people.
(being obsessed with spider-man, anidala, and the doctor and rose when I was like. toddler sized to about eight years old will in fact shape your blorbo types for life. I recommend caution. If only because it means you'll struggle to find good blorbos, especially ladies)
if your Blorbo is from a live-action media, are you also a fan of the actor who plays them?
It is exceedingly rare that I might actually also like the person playing any of my blorbos, I'm not going to lie. I usually have a lot of skepticism towards People, and actors that play my blorbos are no exception there, so I normally avoid being fans of celebrities...
Alas, there is the rare occasion where that blorbo's actor's line of work compels and calls to me so strongly, and their (presented) values align closely enough with my own, that I can't help but think they're fucking cool as hell. Carrie Fisher will always be a personal idol of mine, and I adore how she writes (I can devour any of her books, I'm literally trying to pace myself on rereading the Princess Diarist because I almost finished it in one sitting). She was also really instrumental in me accepting my body as it is, back when I was a teenager, and I overall just admire her and her attitude greatly, especially when it comes to how much she worked to de-stigmatize mental illness.
And the same can be said of Oscar Isaac, tbqh. I wasn't personally a fan of him (not that I disliked him or anything, I just didn't pay him no attention I was more focused on the sequels themselves) until I don't know, sometime when I was seventeen, when I saw a clip of him talking about how gender is a fluid thing and I went "oh, he's actually pretty cool" but I didn't really become a fan until 2021/2022. The dude does so many stories that are centered around disability theory and it makes me so happy, and his passion for Moon Knight, deciding to make the system Autistic because he thinks autistic people are cool as hell and he admires when they're unmasked, the fact that he thinks pluralism is also cool as hell, just makes me like him even more. Especially given that time he went off mid-interview on a rant about how bad the medical system can treat mentally ill people.
And like. He keeps doing movies/shows that seem tailored to all my flavors of Autism, y'know? I didn't really stand a chance lmao.
