I think a lot about how in book 2 of Fablehaven, Dale went into the room with the quicksand, fought the goblin creature, and got both of his legs BADLY broken to the point of not being able to walk, not knowing which artifact they were even trying to get.

I think a lot about how Dale probably thought he'd never be able to walk again, he sacrificed his ability to do his job on the farm at Fablehaven to try and save Kendra.

I think about that a lot.
