I took this picture in September of 2012 and at the time Shana was just coming off her final tour with The Curious Mystery before they broke up and had just put out the first La Luz cassette Damp Face. We also talked about her solo project The Sandcastles, we were somewhat limited in what we could discuss about La Luz because they’d yet to play their first show yet, but what I’ve always loved about this picture and the interview is the way it captures a moment in Shana’s life right before things changed. La Luz is a pretty big deal now, after winning over the hearts of Seattle the band moved down to LA where they’re doing the same there. My only regret with this shoot is that I didn’t get more. Of about twenty shots this was the only one that came out looking good.
