Yeah the double standards between Dan and Phil can be obvious with some people. Whenever Dan uploads, everyone gets really critical and Phil could upload a video of him coughing for 5 minutes and everyone would act like it was brilliant. Like, I love Phil it’s not his fault at all so I don’t want anyone to think I hate Phil cause I love him, but it is really annoying and I first realized last year when they both played Shelter 2 and people were saying they wish it was just Phil😒

yeahhh..... it’s always been my biggest pet peeve in the phandom, the double standards with them. phil is a king who can do no wrong and dan is a rat who always disappoints. I know ppl usually mean it as a joke but it’s not rly that funny, especially after so long. dan is too loud and talks too much etc etc ppl always find things to criticise him about, even if those same ppl are saying they love him an hour later.

the things ppl accuse me of most are hating phil and babying dan and not letting ppl be critical of him at all. which is absolutely ridiculous. I adore phil??? anyone who knows me at all knows that. and like... dan has literally said that he rly cares what ppl say about him and his vids and it’s rly discouraging when ppl don’t seem to be happy. he just wants to make everyone happy all the time, he takes ages with his videos bc he wants to be sure to do it right and not upset anyone? suggesting that someone deserve to be treated kindly is not babying them.

I think u can be critical of both of them. u can tease both of them, lightly, fondly, but what gives ppl the right to be so mean sometimes?

dan deserves genuine kindness and love more often than he gets it, and he doesn’t deserve the amount of hate he gets, even if it’s disguised as “edgy jokes”.

and no, saying jokingly “ugh I hate him” is not the same thing and u all know it. it’s just that the line has been crossed so often it’s barely visible anymore.

and once again, I will end this the way I always do, with a simple reminder:

if phil wouldn’t say it to dan, don’t say it yourself.
