I am not happy with how things went in the last episode. But to say that Game of Thrones is ruined, that it is bad writing - this is greatly unfair.
.) Sansa never glorified her rape. She simply showed the choice she made - not to be ruined by all that happened to her - not just the physical abuse, but the mental as well. You have the choice to collapse or to stand even taller. She went for the latter.
.) I don’t think racism is killing off the only main black character. However, what would be racist is saying that she cannot be killed because she is a person of colour.
.) Brienne is one of my most admired characters of all time. She is this reserved and strong woman with a golden heart and a courage that the world could never fit. Yet, she falls in love. A feeling so new to her, so full. When you experience such strong emotions for the first time, you do not think about having your heart broken. No. You think you have found a whole new side to this world. And just like that, so out of the nothing, so soon that light is taken from you - by the only person you’d shine for. Seeing a woman crying from disappointment, from heartbreak, from seeing she is not good enough - that is not weakness. What is strength though is the absolute certainty Brienne would get up again. That is her character - not never falling, but always again standing.
.) Dany. I do not think there is a more tragic story than hers. From the very beginning absolutely everything she has close to her heart, she loses. Her brother never truly loved her, but used her. He was the only person she had at the time and he sold her. She found love. Drogo and their baby were taken. She became the Mother of Drogons. Two of her children were brutally killed off because people only saw them as monsters. She freed slaves, gained armies. She earned all of this, achieved all of this by herself and when she went North, sacrificing everything, she found hatred. All she fought for didn’t matter to those people. She was a treath, a fear. She found love again. Again, fate took it from her. Not to even start on Jorah and Missandei. And the scene where everyone was celebrating the victory in the Battle of Winterfell. She, that if it was not for her, was alone. She, who desires the Iron Throne so badly but went with the whole of her army North to save the world first, was just standing there. Seeing her love fearing her. And so on. She has always been alone in this world. I would never defend what she did. I would never stand behind this common communist beliefthat in order for the new better world to come, the old must be destroyed. But what we saw is a person crushing. We saw a person who has always been alone finally snapping. Everyone deals differently. That is her character development. I will forever mourn what she could have been. I will forever mourn the queen I wanted them all to have. But she would never leave my heart and my understanding for her would never extinguish.
