Entropy: A Language Where Data Decays the More it is Used
Straightened Trees - Daniel Temkin (2016 - ) Using custom code, the natural curvature of each tree is "corrected." Manufactured objects, i.e. buildings and power lines, twist and contort around the artificially plumbed tree. Each photo is shot on large format film, the only medium that captures enough detail to straighten the tree without pixelly artifacts.
Project 4 Blog Entry: Glitchometry Stripes by Daniel Temkin
Daniel Temkins glitch artworks really intrigued me, also the use of gif in glitch art I think works really well. These Glitchometry stripes all start out as a series of black and white stripes, and then they are sonified (imported into an audio editor. He talked about how sound effects are added to individual color channels, the program thinking it’s a sound, it completely transforms the image.
There is definitely no way of knowing how the image could turn out. He also pointed out that by using simpler sound effects more sparingly the output is less noisy and more crispy graphic. I do think it’s a different way of Glitch art, but honestly Glitch art is supposed to be experimented to figure out what could come out as a final piece.
