˗ˏˋ ♡ Custom folder tutorial ˎˊ˗

I'm going to start by apologizing, my English isn't good enough to make the tutorial, so I'll mostly be using a translator, and the reference images will be in Spanish. ദ്ദി ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ )

This tutorial will show you how to create your own custom icons. If you just want to download and use the ones I made, you can find them at the end of this post. Just follow the instructions starting from Step 3.

Create your image

I like the image looks like a folder, but you can design absolutely anything you want 𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯.

You need a square canvas, mine is 2000 x 2000 px, the converter I use forces everything into a square format, so if you want your icon to keep a rectangular shape like mine, you need to leave some blank space on the sides.

2. Convert your PNG to ICO

This is the converter I used, I didn't have any issues with it. You just need to select your files and click start, there's no need to change the size or any other settings.

After a few second, your file.ico will be ready to download. ₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ ₊˚⊹♡

3. Select your folder

Right-click on the folder you want to customize and select 'Properties'.

You'll see this panel pop up, just select 'Customize'

Click on 'Change Icon', then click 'Browse' to select your new downloaded file.

Click 'Apply' and then 'Ok'.

Remember not to move the file after doing all this, or you'll have to do it again.

I got a gnarly paper-cut while rehousing this extremely oversized box of archival photos. I had to throw my hands up really quickly so I didn’t get blood on the photos, because the blood started welling up so fast.

One folder did get stained, so I just cut it down to a smaller size so as not to waste the non-bloodied part of it. If you’ve ever had to buy archival folders, then you’ll understand why I didn’t just trash the whole thing. If you’re not a regular archival folder purchaser, then here is why:

A pack of 10 of these very same folders runs about $3 a folder, not including shipping or taxes.

This is the kind of moment when it feels like the universe is punishing me for trying to do an archival good deed! Hmph!
