Okay, so. I’ve read the whole Lorien Legacies series twice through in the last month, because my brain flat out refused to think about literally anything else (thanks to audiobooks for existing because oof). There are definitely things I dislike about it, and I might do a more in-depth meta or critique at some point, if I can make my thoughts be coherent.
For now, though, here’s a list of some of my favorite things from the series, in no particular order:
- When John is making sure Sam isn’t Setrákus Ra in disguise, so he asks what Sam did when he first thought John was an alien, and Sam replies that he pulled a gun on him, and Malcolm just goes “Oh, Samuel....”
- Marina healing Legacy the cat and Carlotta taking him in and naming him Feo (both of them definitely survived the attack on Santa Teresa. No I will not change my mind on this)
- Team bonding capture the flag and family dinner
- Sarah and Sam using the lecture hall to fight off the Mogs
- Ella glowing and sparking with Loric energy and creeping out all the soldiers at Patience Creek
- Héctor Ricardo fighting alongside Marina, without question
- John and Marina being completely in awe of Six’s fighting skills when she comes in to save them
- Sarah refusing to just sit on the sidelines and learning how to fight
- Nine asking if John’s mind has been implanted into a Mog ship
- Eight, Nine, and Marina’s training session (with all the banter and finding ways to build off of each others’ legacies)
- Henri’s letter, and John, Sam, and Six’s reaction to it
- Adam choosing to keep doing what he believes is right despite everyone distrusting him or being outright hostile, and slowly gaining their trust and becoming family
- John and BK fighting the soldier and piken in the woods, and refusing to abandon each other
- Nine picking Ella, Sarah, and Marina for capture the flag and coming up with a plan that plays to all of their strengths so they feel like they’re equally important fighters instead of a burden to the team
- Daniela taking some time to consider what it would mean to fight alongside the Garde, and then fully committing to the war, even though she’s still scared and adjusting to her new reality. Also, always sassing John and bringing him back down to earth, so to speak
