19 for christopher and esther both... any weird anachronistic traditions or personal rituals they carry into the wasteland? 😌

19. What traditions or stories does your OC carry forward from their childhood to the rest of their life?

HMM an interesting one...

christopher: he holds his past so close to his heart i think he stills finds ways to carry on vault traditions and celebrate holidays reminiscent of the odd vault way they'd do it. even if it's just small things like lighting a candle the day the bombs dropped or telling jury-rig to be good or the ghost of santa claus is gonna come take his favorite bone away. (christmas was weirdddd in the vault) a more embarrassing habit is that he sometimes still finds himself tapping the wall next to doors and walking face first into them. he needs push/pull signs on every door

esther: doing her hair every morning is definitely the most important personal ritual to her, even at her lowest points. it's one thing she feels in control over, and she's taken comfort in that ever since she was a child. she also takes some of her earliest memories of her and her father building their summer cabin and uses it to try and bond with shaun while fixing things up around sanctuary...

7. What about your character still remains a mystery to you?

honestly, what her life is like after 2026… very difficult for me to imagine my ocs futures when they live in a modern times. i think she’s still kicking around LA. 🩷

14. What thought or memory your character is aching to share with someone but for whatever reason, never has had the chance?

her last night alive. rochelle wishes she could tell her old coworker porscha how kind it was of her to invite rochelle out. they were never close but ro went through a breakup with a longterm boyfriend and took porscha up on her offer to go out. it ended in rochelle's undeath but what a kind thing for her to do.

16. How does your character think whatever they're going through is going to end? (if they already survived, did things go as they once thought?)

i think rochelle is in denial for many years and although she doesn't voice it to other kindred, part of her feels like maybe it's either all a dream. she can be very disconntected--from people and things but she really struggles with this.

all that to say she is kidding herself for like 2 years straight until the world starts moving on without her. not as many people looking for her after a few years, all her videos and ads that were in preproduction have been out for years now.

she knows immortality is not going to end.

21. How often do they lie and what are the lies?

christopher is honest to a fault and wears his heart on his sleeve... he'll usually dodge a topic before he'd tell a straight lie.

BUT if forced to, his most common lie (to people outside DC anyway) is that he was born in a vault and his family were always vault dwellers. easier to explain and less likely to get him murdered or arrested. more importantly though he feels like it'd be disrespectful to his parents to tell the truth... he'd rather they be remembered as the scientists who saved the capital wasteland, not the enclave defectors.

24. Why do they get up day after day?

he asks himself this a lot. simplest answer is that he cannot stop fighting, literally and metaphorically. he thinks he desires nothing more than some unstoppable force to come and take him out, but every time he's confronted with that he fights it anyway. and he'll keep doing so till the day it finally wins. ✊

28. What is their biggest strength and what do others think their biggest strength is?

christopher wouldn't have an answer to this since he considers himself painfully average and doesn't take pride in any of his accomplishments LOL but it would probably be his determination. he will always get shit done or pull through even when he doesn't want to.

to people who don't know him it'd probably be "he can kill good." and to be fair he sure can pop a head from long range. to his friends it'd probably be his ability to maintain compassion for life and even non-life (talking to robots/inanimate objects...) after everything he's been through. they love his heart!!!

29. Who are their friends? How close do they allow themselves to become with them?

he makes a few friends in the capital wasteland but most he's not super close to... he never feels like he can confide in them since he doesn't want to burden anyone with his problems. sydney is probably the first person he gets that close to since his emotions about losing his dad are still very raw when they meet.

then there's arcade of course. he starts to let himself be more open with people after they move to boneyard (yall don't even know about the boneyard arc... 🚬). by the time of fo4 he's an open book who's ready to forge a connection with just about anyone! preston, maccready, and curie are his closest friends though :)

idk if you've talked about this before but does christopher go to the pitt? 👉👈 or do any of the dlc quests, for that matter?

he does!! i talk about it a lil here... it's also where he picks up his med-x habit. since stimpaks are so scarce there it begins as something to keep him pushing through his injuries.

op. anchorage: he doesn't give a fuuuuck about the outcasts and makes fun of them for not knowing how a pip-boy works. but he helps them anyway and gets his beloved stealth suit out of it. then they start shooting each other for some reason? whatever

mothership zeta: he thinks this was an alcohol induced nightmare and charon doesn't have the heart to tell him the truth. he still wonders sometimes though... what if they're out there... 👽

point lookout: probably the most emotionally taxing for him. it really makes him realize that the weight of his past is crushing him like a ton of bricks and he needs to get as far away from it as possible. it's the last thing he does before he leaves the capital wasteland for a few years... he helped desmond though. he trusts a dog person over a brain in a jar.

9. What are their love languages?

christopher would be acts of service/physical touch... he's always gonna have that Productive Vault Citizen quality to him so he wants to help where ever he can, no matter how small the task! he's also just really physically affectionate with his friends and loved ones in general. they don't do a lot of PDA but christopher will probably always be leaning on arcade/have an arm around him...

i think arcade would be words of affirmation/quality time.... christopher has made great strides since they met and he wants him to know it. and i said it earlier but they really do just like being around each other while doing nothing or everyday tasks. especially if they can talk unabashedly for hours while doing it. yapper4yapper relationship

26. How would they celebrate things like birthdays, valentines day, anniversaries, etc..? Do they even celebrate them at all?

christopher is BIG on celebrations you know he's throwing a lame ass party for 2 for every minor event in their life. i think he'd be most excited about valentine's day since it was probably really awkward for him in the vault. arcade gets home and there's 500 paper hearts everywhere that christopher cut out by hand.

arcade is more subdued about this but he tries to match christopher's energy with small things. bringing him a sweet roll on his birthday or writing a little letter on their anniversary. :)

4. In what areas would they help one another grow?

i think being with ro teaches skelter to have just a little more patience and not be so quick to judge since rochelle defied practically all their expectations/assumptions by turning on lacroix.

being with skelter (and honestly just getting her footing as a vampire) kind of forces rochelle to grow up… she has to take certain things more seriously since now little slip ups can be the end of her unlife or put others (like sam or other people from her past) in danger.
