Fíli is the last one to fall to the gold-sickness. Thorin spends hours with his arms elbow-deep into the gold, searching for the Arkenstone until his fingers bleed. The dwarves rarely leave the treasure room and Kíli no longer talks about his she-elf made of stardust. The deeper the madness gets, the tighter Bilbo and Fíli held each other. ‘Every will be alright,’ said Fíli one morning. The hobbit back is turned, and he cannot see the mad light in Fíli's eyes while the dwarf is looking at him.

i was reading your tags and i saw you mention dark!fili. do you have any fic recs?

Hmmm, sadly I haven’t really read a lot of dark!Fili fics on AO3, I don’t know if that’s because there’s a sincere lack of them or I just haven’t found them, but the very fact that I haven’t read a lot of dark!Fili fics is exactly why I’ve got a whole plot bunny of it myself, and I’m just sort of scared to get it started (also I haven’t had the energy or strength to really write continuously for MONTHS now, it’s so sad) because I don’t want to get lost halfway through and never be able to finish it. :( If I find any, I’ll make fic rec posts on my blog. :D
