'Echo Of My Eye' Long Fic Idea
Okay so Bench Trio are the Echos of the OG SBI. Tommy to Wilbur, Ranboo to Techno, and Tubbo to Phil.
Phil's an Avian hybrid with Death's, Kristen's, blessing and Techno and Wilbur are the pair's demigod children who also have wings. Tommy is also an Avian hybrid while Ranboo is an Ender Dragon hybrid and Tubbo was born human.
The Bench Trio each has their own reasons for going dark/becoming platonically yandere towards the OG SBI.
With Ranboo it's because Tommy and Tubbo are part of his Hoard/Cove (family group) which in his mind translates to the OG SBI being the same which means he needs to regain his "stolen" hoard no matter the cost.
With Tommy it's because he knows if Dream gets to the OG SBI first he'll use the fact that Echos instinctually are unable to let any harm come to their Originators to force the Bench Trio to be minions for his cause and Tommy refuses to be under that bastard's thumb ever again let alone let his flock suffer the same fate he had at Dream's hands.
And Tubbo, well Tubbo just doesn't want to lose his family again even if he has to keep them locked in a gilded cage.
I know I want the setting to be at least fantasy adjacent but I don't know the exact roles I want everyone to play. Because the OG SBI has to be important because of how they're tied to Kristen but I don't want to just slap crowns on their heads and call it a day ya know. Also because I don't want to add an entire nation's army trying to find their missing royals and a nation desperately trying not to crumble with the entire royal family missing on top of the main conflict. That I'm currently trying to figure out what I want it to be.
I'm hoping to make this into a long fic, at least ten chapters, but seeing as I don't have all the major pieces in place yet it's gonna take awhile. I am going to duo post it on here and my ao3when I start writing it and I'm willing to take any ideas yall have to fill in the current plot holes in this idea. I'm also gonna give yall the rundown about Echos and Originators before I leave you to go about your business.
Echos and Originators Info
Echos are failed reincarnations with superhuman powers meant to protect the souls that they’re the failed reincarnations of. The reincarnations failed because the soul tried to reincarnate while still in a living body. Echos are fairly rare, about ten to twenty per generation per sentient species. Multi-bound Echos are even rarer. Multi-bounds are Echos that end up being born of multiple failed reincarnations, meaning they get more power to protect more people.
Echos always have at least one power. The Multi-bound have their powers multiply, the number of powers per person always equals the amount of people bound to the Echo. An Echo's powers only first show up when their Originators, people bound to them, are in danger for the first time in the Echo’s lifetime and it’s only the Originator who’s in danger that power’s show up. Echos also gain any powers their Originators possess.
Echos are always at least one year younger than their Originators but typically are no younger than ten years than their Originators. There is the rare exception but they’re usually one to ten years younger than their Originators. Echos die when all of their Originators are dead, hard to protect someone who’s dead after all.
Echos also develop a mental bond with their Originators apon first physical contact that let’s the Echo talk to their Originator through their minds and vice versa.
There’s a soulmate clause with Echos that if a pair, or more, of soulmates each have an Echo that, unless it’s old age, so long as one Echo/Originator pair out of the soulmate bond is alive any other members of the bond can be revived no matter how they died.
