Zoro loves kissing him, loves hearing Luffy moan, loves the panting sound he makes. Zoro can kiss him forever. Can give up breathing to keep kissing him. Which makes the fact that Luffy is always the one to break the kiss first to breathe an annoyance.
He feels Luffy pull away. Grabbing the back of his head, Zoro pulls Luffy in closer. Deepening the kiss. Kissing Luffy like drinking, dulls his self control, leaves him craving more and more. He feels Luffy try to pull away again. A part of Zoro just wants to continue the kissing. Ignore Luffys hands trying to push his chest away. Theres a dark voice that whispers to Zoro he can keep going, keep taking pleasure, keep enjoying this moment. Zoro never listens to the voice though. He loves Luffy, he would never hurt him.
Zoro releases the death grip he has on the back of Luffy head. There’s a part of him that aches when Luffy pulls away panting. Zoro starts placing kisses against his cheek. Leaves bites on his neck. Zoro loves to hear Luffy gasp, loves the sound Luffy makes. Loves that Luffy pretends the bites hurt.
“I love you.”
In between the bites and the kisses, Zoro whispers the same promise over and over in Luffys ear. Because it is a promise. The kisses are a testament to that. The bite marks that go away by morning are proof of that. Zoro loves Luffy. Loves him with all his heart and soul.
Luffy can vaguely make out the words the guards are saying. They seem to be having a whispering argument.
"But, I'm telling you, it's true. He's Dragon's kid. And i didnt sign up to have fucking Dragon after me and-“
"-first off, when you joined you signed up for anything. And second, theres no way that shits true. Idiot, just use your head. How the fuck can Dragon be his dad?"
Luffy doesn't bother to try and listen to the rest of the argument. Not caring to confirm the rumor. Dragon is only his father in blood. Luffy has met him once and even during that meeting the only words he spoke to him was to ask where Sabo was. Dragon wouldn't care that he's currently being held captive by S.W.O.R.D. Wouldn't care in the least his captors have put him in a cell that seemed specifically designed to torture Devil-Fruit users. The cell is filled with a thin layer of sea water at the bottom. Making even laying down hurt. And at random times some type of sprinkler goes off in the ceiling, pouring sea water down all throughout the cell.
Luffy would rather be forced to fight his tormentors than just suffer this. Everything aches. His body keeps tensing every time he hears a click form above. Constantly worried about water pouring over him. He wonders if the randomness of the sprinkler is part of the torture. Never knowing when he'd get doused in water again.
His mind wanders from the timing on the sprinklers to his crew. And X-Drake as well. Honestly, Luffy really didn't even have X-Drake on his radar at first. In Wano he seemed such a non-threat Luffy didn't bother arguing with him about being allies. X-Drake was a no-one to him. If he suddenly wanted to "help" him, Luffy wasn't going to tell him no. Too busy with the thought of fighting Kaido, saying yes to him felt insignificant. Zoro didn't see it that way. Something he made very clear later when the two of them finally got a moment in private.
Luffy didn't regret his decision. Even after his conversation with Zoro. Luffy was the Captain. He got to have final say. Even if Zoro didn't like it, he begrudgingly admitted the fact. After Wano, they managed to come in contact with X-Drake again. It was a random island. They were just restocking for supplies. Fresh off a fight with another pirate crew. They had to fully dock to take care of damages the ship sustained. X-Drake appeared out of the blue. Asking for a favor. Needing a ship to take him to another island. And Zoro already looked murderous just seeing X-Drake. Luffy can just feel the lecture coming. The discussion he'd have to endure. Luffy thinks on Zoro's would be reaction if he says yes. If he agrees to help X-Drake out. Luffy, despite what others might say, doesn't go looking for fights. So Luffy was really going to say no. Just refuse the request. He owes nothing to X-Drake. Has no need to save him or make sure hes ok. No loyalty to him. It'll be easy to say no to him. And too hard to say yes.
Before Luffy can say no to him though, an attack happens. Or almost happens. The defeated pirate crew wasn't so defeated after all. An explosion happens in the distance. And a lone survivor has a gun. Its aimed at Luffy. And its not like Luffy was in danger. it was a regular bullet, it would have bounced off. Its not like Zoro couldn't easily slice the bullet in half without breaking a sweat. But either X-Drake was really worried about Luffy, or maybe just wanted to make Luffy be in his debt. Because X-Drake uses his devil-fruit to turn into a dinosaur and goes after the lone survivor. And, it shouldn't be impressive. Luffy was never in danger. Luffy didn't need protection. X-Drake is still too unkown, too much of a risk to let aboard the Sunny. Zoro would be very upset if Luffy let X-Drake on board the ship. Theres lots of reasons to tell X-Drake no.
But, all Luffy can think of is that X-Drake can turn into a dinosaur. And dinosaurs are really really cool. Luffy never had a dinosaur aboard the ship. Luffy mind soon fills with thoughts of dinosaurs and thoughts of Zoro's reaction gets tossed out his head. Before Zoro, or anyone else on the crew, can stop him, Luffy already jumping on top of X–Drake. Excitedly agreeing to help him. Asking a million questions about how he fights, can he fly, can he lay eggs, can they keep the eggs, and many more.
By the time the ship is ready to leave, X-Drake, who still staying in his dinosaur form due to Luffy's insistence, has already answered many many personal questons. And had to stop Luffy several times from trying to rip out his teeth. Luffy wanted to see if they can grow back as fast as shark teeth.
And theres a vague worry in the back of his head about what Zoro will say when they're alone. How Zoro still doesn't trust X-Drake, still sees him as an enemy, thinks Luffy making a big mistake by letting him aboard the ship. And normally Luffy would be more intune with Zoro. Take Zoro concerns more to heart. But it's not every day a dinosaur gets to board their ship. Luffy might not get the chance for a long time to ride around on one. Even if its just in circles around the deck. So Luffy pushes thoughts of Zoro to the back of his head. Focuses on trying to rip a scale or tooth out to keep as a souvenir and enjoys the excitement of everything.
It takes a couple days to get to the island X-Drake needs to get to. Days that are filled with Luffy asking an increasingly embarrassed X-Drake if he can lay an egg for them. Luffy really wants a dinosaur as a pet now. With the rest of the crew trying to avoid being within earshot of the awkward questions Luffy keeps asking X-Drake and the murderous aura Zoro giving off.
They find the island without trouble. It’s meant to be easy from there. Drop off X-Drake in a secluded port, where his fellow S.W.O.R.D. members are supposed to be waiting for him. Members who X-Drake trusts and calls his friends. But instead of trusted members it’s just betrayal waiting for both X-Drake and the Straw Hat crew.
It’s embarrassing how easy they get ambushed. Luffy too busy pleading with X-Drake to lay an egg really quick before he leaves, and Zoro too busy being upset, and the rest of the crew are too exhausted from the tension on the ship. Luffy goes down first, then its Zoro then Robin. Then it’s too chaotic to keep track of who goes down next.
Luffy wakes up in a damp cell. Water coming down from above. With guards outside arguing about who his dad is. And Luffy sore and tired and cold. His breath comes out in shaky gasps. His eyelids feel heavy. The arguing annoys him. He doesn’t want to hear or think about his dad. A dad who never raised him, a dad he doesn’t even think about. Luffy wants to go back to thinking of dinosaurs.
Luffy keeps falling asleep. Only waking when the water, the freezing water, from above splashes him. Drenches his body completely. Hearing bits of the guards conversations.
“If Dragon shows up- fuck if Garp shows up I’m leaving. Fuck- there’s not enough berri in the world to make me fight them.”
Luffy wants to laugh at the absurdity of the statement. The misplaced fear. Dragon not coming. Garp’s definitely not coming. Zoro will come though. Zoro always comes. Zoro will never not come. Luffy just has to wait. Has to endure. Zoro will come.
And it’s probably a good thing Luffy keeps falling asleep. It makes the time go by faster. Before he knows it’s Luffy awakes to screams and the sounds of bodies hitting the floor. Soon Zoro next to him. Undoing the cuffs on his arms. Helping him up, letting him lean on his body as they walk out the cell. Sadly, taking out the guards did little to squelch the anger Zoro feeling.
“- and it was an obvious fucking trap. And you weren’t thinking. You weren’t acting like a captain, but like a - “
And Luffy glad that it takes so much effort to walk, even with an arm over Zoro, that he misses the ending of the sentence. Misses most of Zoro’s ranting. Luffy has to focus on the difficulty of walking. Of staying conscious. And they walk for a long time. Still trapped on the bottom floor. With nothing but rows of empty cells that all look the same. Giving them no sense of direction.
Zoro about to just give up and start slicing walls down when Luffy gets enough energy to put together a sentence. Or half a sentence.
“We need to find-,” and the coughing fit takes over the end of his sentence. Makes it so he has to lean more on Zoro. Luffy feels Zoro grip around him tighten.
“The crew fine. Jinbei and Franky are getting everyone else to the ship. We need to-,”
“X-Drake, we need to find X-Drake too.”
And the sudden stop makes his lungs hurt. Makes everything hurt more. Luffy can feel it coming already. Can feel the nails dig in more to his side. The drop in temperature around them.
“Are you fucking serious,”
“We promised him-,”
“Are you fucking serious right now.” Luffy feels his body get turned to meet Zoro’s gaze. Feels Zoro grip on his face.
“You can barely walk and you still want to help him.”
“We promised him-,”
“I didn’t promise him shit-“
“I promised him and-,”
And Luffy struggling to stay up. Struggling to stay alert. His head is pounding. His clothes are still dripping with sea water. Making it hard for him to focus. He misses most of Zoro response. Just barely catches the ending.
“- you need to start acting like a fucking captain and-“
And Luffy still dripping wet. Still sore and in pain. Still mad about not getting a dinosaur egg. Still an idiot and can’t stop himself for what he does next. Breaks out of Zoro grip, uses what little energy he has left to say the next sentence.
“And you need to start acting like a fucking first-mate and listen to your fucking captain.”
And what happens next is a blur. Luffy forgets the order of things. Of what happens first exactly. Was it the slap or shove that knocked him to the ground? Which kick came first, the one to the face or the one to the stomach? How many failed attempts of trying to get Zoro off him before he just gave up?
Luffy forgets a lot of things but remembers the next part too well. Remembers his cheek sticking to the wet floor. The water going up his nose as he cried. The grip on his hair. Remembers shutting his eyes so he didn’t have to see the look on Zoro face. Remembers the sounds of clothes tearing. How cold his stomach felt against the floor. Remembers praying for the water to pour over them so he can just pass out again.
A/N - it’s Zolu but dark, zoro not a good person in the story, read tags
*feedback is welcome
And Luffy is impulsive. Actions come first and the thinking comes later. Luffy lets his body control his moves. In fights it’s less about plans and more about doing what feels right in the moment. Luffy rarely thinks far in advance what consequences his actions might have. His body is detached from his mind at times. It does its own thing.
And that translates to other areas besides fighting. Luffy goes overboard with affection. Hugging too tight, not just Zoro but the rest of the crew as well. Luffy forgets in the moment at times his crew mates aren’t rubber like him. Sometimes jumping from too high of heights to land on someone’s unsuspecting back. Not realizing a normal person knees would buckle and stumble forward. When he wraps his arms around his crew, his nakama, to carry them along as he flings himself head first to the next location. Too impatient to walk, Luffy forgets in the moment his crew would get serious whiplash. Luffy has, many times, unintentionally hurt his crew. Not out of malice but just plain forgetfulness. It’s closer to clumsiness then meanness. And his crew forgives him. They’ll grumble and swat at him but they always forgive him. Nami sometimes takes longer to forgive him, and swears at him more, but she forgives him too in the end. It’s always an accident. Accidents are blameless after all.
Luffy is impulsive and so it makes sense Zoro is too. Zoro spends so much time with Luffy, it makes sense for him to adopt some of Luffy mannerisms. So sometimes Zoro gets too impulsive in the moment too and listens to his body more than he should. And so sometimes Zoro accidentally, it’s always an accident it’s never intentional, hurts Luffy too.
Zoro is passionate and strong. Zoro is just like Luffy and doesn’t think before his body moves sometimes. Zoro doesn’t think he’s hurting Luffy when he gets too worked up. Zoro not thinking about wanting to hurt Luffy even though Luffy on the floor of the shower. Zoro can’t tell Luffy crying because the water from the shower still running and is mixing with the tears. Zoro not stopping because he’s not hearing Luffy cries. It’s getting muffled by the water running and Zoro hand on his throat. Zoro is loyal and passionate and Luffy knows this. Luffy knows Zoro loves him so deeply. And sometimes love just gets a persons body too worked up. Luffy knows this. Luffy understands this.
Luffy reminds himself of this every time Zoro gets too worked up. Luffy is currently reminding himself of this as Zoro is still on top of him. Still holding him down. Still not seeing the tears or hearing the cries. Zoro still too worked up to notice the small details. Zoro is just like Luffy. Zoro body has a mind of its own at times.
And it’s the water that’s making things worse. The water constantly hitting him from above that’s making Luffy feel more panicky. Feel more afraid. And it’s nonsense. It’s irrational. There’s no reason to panic or be afraid. Zoro here with him. Zoro would never hurt him. Zoro is loyal and loving and the best first-mate. The water is just making Luffy head hurt. Messing with his emotions. Making him feel things he shouldn’t. Luffy should never feel afraid of Zoro.
It’s just the water messing with his head. The water that’s freezing now. The water that feels like needles poking him over and over again. Luffy head is just hurting. Luffy head is still being held down against the bathroom floor.
And Luffy tries to think of Zoro and his loyalty. All the times Zoro risked his life for Luffy. How Zoro was willing to give up his dream for Luffy life. Zoro did all this for Luffy. It doesn’t make sense for Luffy to be afraid of Zoro. It’s irrational, it’s nonsense.
The water still running. Still hitting Luffy. Still messing with his mind. Making him think things he shouldn’t. About how Zoro holding his neck too tight. Pressing it against the floor too hard. Everything feels worse because of the water. And Zoro is passionate and impulsive. Zoro isn’t aware of his own body at times. Zoro moves without thinking at times too. Zoro is just like Luffy.
And Luffy feels the water coming from above. And its too harsh. It’s too cold. It’s making him feel more panicky and stressed out. Which is weird. It’s wrong. He’s safe there’s no reason to panic.
There’s no reason for stress, he’s here with Zoro. Zoro always protects him. There’s no reason to panic. It’s just because of the water raining down on him. It’s messing with his head. Making everything hurt more.
He’s safe. He’s fine. Everything ok. Zoro is with him. Nothing bad is happening to him. Zoro is with him and everything is fine. Zoro body just has a mind of its own sometimes. Zoro acts without thinking sometimes. Zoro is impulsive and brash and just like Luffy. Zoro still on top of him. Hovering over him. Zoro seems so much taller when Luffy looking up at him from the floor. And it’s kind of romantic how the water rolls off Zoro. How Zoro body acts like an umbrella, shielding water away from Luffy. That Zoro always seems to want to protect Luffy. Even when he gets like this, too impulsive and too worked up, Luffy still knows Zoro loves him.
And it’s because of Luffy insistence that Zoro even with him in the shower. Luffy hates showering alone. His arms get tired too easily to rinse himself good. To scrub out all the dirt from his hair. Zoro only started joining him because Luffy insisted on it. And Zoro usually is good at scrubbing all the dirt out of his hair without getting soap in his eyes. Zoro lets Luffy lean against him when he gets too tired of standing and makes sure the water is a nice temperature. Zoro dries him off good and carries him back to their room, it’s the Captains room technically. Showers are usually a nicer experience. Tonight experience is just an outlier. A one-off. An accident. Accidents are blameless.
And Luffy head is hurting from the water and it’s hard to tell how long he’s been on the floor. It can’t be that long though. Zoro would never be hurting him this long, even accidentally. It feels like a long time but it can’t be that long. And after what feels like a really long time Luffy getting lifted off the shower floor. Zoro helping Luffy lean against the wall. Helping scrub his hair and clean his face and wash his whole body. Zoro helps him dry off and the towels seem extra soft. And it feels really nice when Zoro carries him back to their room. Luffy body still sore but it’s more the waters fault that Zoro’s. Zoro is loyal and caring and the perfect first-mate.
Luffy body is so tired. It makes sleep come a lot easier. And Luffy last thoughts before he dreams are about how soft the towels felt and how nice it felt getting his hair scrubbed.
“ I just love you so much, ok.” And you say it again so he’ll understand how much you love him. So he’ll understand this is out of love. That this is what love is supposed to be. And you love him so much and so deep. Even when he always tries to pull away from you. Even when he acts scared of you- as if you’d ever hurt him- you still love him so much and so deep.
“I love you so much.” And you kiss him softer and touch him gentler. Because you love him and you know he loves you too. “I love you so much.” And you kiss him and caress him and just love him because that’s all you want to do- you just want to love him.
And after each kiss you reaffirm your love for him. You’re softer with him. You kiss the parts of him with bite marks and bruises. You kiss the parts where you loved him too harsh. You kiss him because you love him.
And he loves you too. Even when he cries you know he loves you. Even when he pulls away you know he loves you. Because if he really didn’t want this he can easily push you off. He would punch you, hit you, fight you. He’s stronger than you- if he really didn’t want this he wouldn’t let it happen.
And he’s still here with you. Still letting you kiss him. Still letting you love him. So he obviously wants this too. He’s just scared. He’s confused. Which is fine. You love him so much. Even when he acts like he’s scared of you, when he acts afraid of you, when he forgets how much he wants this too. You still love him.
“I love you so much.” And you're panting as you say it. Your gasping as you say it. Because you’re finally getting to fully love him, fully be with him. You’re finally getting to fuck him.
“I love you so much.” And you kiss him softly to remind him it’ll be less painful next time. There’ll be less tears next time. To remind him to just listen to you better next time. Just let himself be loved from the start next time.
“I love you so much.” And you say it softly and gently. You say it as your holding him closer to you. You say it as he’s finally stopped crying, stopped moving away from you. You say it as he’s lying still in your arms.
“I love you so much.” You say it as you kiss the top of his head and hug him closer to you. You say it with all your heart because he has all your love already.
“I love you too.” And he says it without looking at you. He says it with tears still in his voice. He says it as if he’s talking to himself more than to you. And it’s ok, it’s fine. You still love him so much. Even when he gets like this you still love him.
A/N: Any feedback is welcome. I wrote this to get out a lot of negative emotions i had from a bad break up. Which is why Zoro acting abusive in this story and coming off as very coercive/predatory.
“I love you,” and this time you kiss him softly. Because you love him and want him to say it back. You caress his face softly with both hands because you love him and want him to enjoy this. You wipe his tears away because you love him and want him to see the love in your eyes.
“I love you.”
And you just want to keep kissing him. Keep touching him. Finally be able to fuck him. Because you deserve it. You’re owed it. You’ve given everything for him. You risked your life countless times for him. Swallowed your pride for him. You’ve loved him for so long. He has your heart why is it so wrong for you to have his body.
You love him so much. It’s painful to be without him. It hurts to see him get injured. It hurts to see the scar on his chest each day, a constant reminder when you weren’t there for him. And it hurts when he still pulls away from you. Still breaks away from you kissing him, from you loving him. It hurts when he acts all timid when it’s just the two of you alone. As if he’s afraid of you. As if you’d ever hurt him.
When all you’ve done is love him. All you ever want to do is love him. All you’re doing is just kissing him so why does he still have to try and pull away from you.
“I love you.” You say it in between the kisses. As you finally get to start exploring his body. You say it as you start undressing. “I love you.” As you’re taking his clothes off. “ I love you.” As your pushing him onto the floor and getting on top of him. “I love you.” You keep saying it after each kiss. Each long kiss. Each long kiss he’s finally not pulling away from because you’re on top and holding him down.
And each kiss is longer than the last. Each kiss is rougher than the last. Each kiss involves more touching, more exploring, more biting. Each kiss is making you want him more and more. Each kiss is making it easier to ignore the fact that he’s not kissing you back.
“I love you.” Stop acting like I’m hurting you is what you want to say but don’t. “I love you.” Stop acting scared of me. “I love you.” Stop fucking crying.
“I love you so much.” And you grab his face and force him to look right at you as you’re saying it. Because you want him to know, need him to know, how deeply you love him. That what you’re doing is out of love. This is out of love. That you just want to love him. That all you want is to show him how much you love him.
“I love you so much.” And you soften your tone the second time you say it. You soften the grip on your face as you say it the second time. Because you need him to know it’s out of love. You need him to know this is all out of love. That you don’t want to hurt him. That you just need to express your love because your love is so deep. This is all because you love him so much and so deep.
“I love you.” And you say it barely above a whisper. The grip on his face is replaced by soft caresses to his cheek. “I love you.” And you say it again because you want him to know it. Want him to believe it. So he’ll start enjoying it and stop looking scared. So he’ll start kissing you back instead of crying. So he’ll know he’s loved and safe with you and doesn’t need to be afraid.
“I love you,” and this time you kiss him softly. Because you love him and want him to say it back. You caress his face softly with both hands because you love him and want him to enjoy this. You wipe his tears away because you love him and want him to see the love in your eyes.
Authors Note: this is part of a longer fic I’ve been writing. I went through a very bad break last year that I’m still not over. So I wrote this story to kind of just process some stuff I went through. I made Zoro “the bad guy” to just get out a lot of the negative emotions.
I really do like Zolu alot and usually read more happier romances. Valentine’s Day just put me in a mood. I was just writing this to get more of the negative emotions out.
