Darkar, the Shadow Phoenix
Darkar, the forsaken Nymph and Sorcerer of the Phoenix’s Blaze. The self proclaimed “Shadow Phoenix”. Long ago, he was Argyris, a magicless boy from the poor countryside of Sikósoúroupo. Though, seedlings of jealousy and hatred, fueled by his own doubt, turned him against his fellow nymphs. In turn, his actions led to the death of Domino’s Nymph of Sparx and the Nymph of the Dragon’s Flame’s irreparable injuries.
His parents were farmers who could barely keep food on their own table, yet would still find the means to donate crops to those who needed it. He was raised to care for his community and the world around him, and he did. The owl by his side, Keborg, is a Silent Devil he nurtured back to health after being struck by a hunter’s arrow. He spared little thought to the world outside his small town, he expected it to be all he’d ever know, but he didn’t mind.
His acquisition of the Phoenix’s Blaze was nothing short of an accident. It was the result of one wrong step, but led to a broken hearth and a fire now blazing inside his heart. How the Council of Magic and Domino’s own Nymph of the Dragon’s Flame found out is beyond him. He wanted it out before even his parents caught on, but unfortunately, fate had other plans. It was near immediate that he started training. The current Nymph of the Dragon’s Flame, Egyeria, was a witch and the only person to hold a Water Star was a fairy. He only saw it as befitting to become a sorcerer and crafted his magical artifact to be a quill pen.
He became a well esteemed sorcerer, well versed in his own magic and becoming a nymph himself, yet decided to reside in his hometown in the end. It was still his primary dedication, becoming a nymph did not change that. Though, it would be a lie if it wasn’t in part due to the distrust other nymphs held towards him. He was beloved by Egyeria, but he was feared by the others. They believed the Phoenix to be a deity of destruction. Of death. The Phoenix was a god fabled to rule with an iron fist, they didn’t trust his nymph to be dissimilar.
The Ancestral Witches were already formulating a plan to obtain the Dragon’s Flame and saw Argyris as the key to it. They weeded their way into his mind and added fuel to his doubt. They made him believe that all of the other nymphs held themselves above him. In that doubt, they planted the seeds of jealousy and hatred. He grew contempt towards them all, especially Egyria. Those feelings started to corrupt the magic in his body, and led him to act out. With these growing feelings he took on the name Darkar and developed an epithet for himself, as he was no longer just a nymph.
His quill was fashioned into a spear and the copper crown of his Nymphix formed into that of a helmet. He believed himself to be the Incandescent Phoenix’s equal and wanted to prove himself to the others. During their next meeting, he attacked them all, proclaiming himself as the “Shadow Phoenix”. He wanted to prove he was above them all.
Most of all, he wanted to kill Egyeria. He believed she was two faced, that her kindness towards him was an act. The Nymph of Sparx took the fatal strike he aimed at Egyria, in turn giving Egyeria the opening to strike him down herself. The wound should have been fatal, but the fire in him refused to let him die. Realizing he would not win, he retreated and hid somewhere they wouldn’t find him. But his attack put a hole in Domino’s defense, leaving an opening for the Ancestral Witches to invade.
He hid in an abandoned mine on Magix, a planet he had no ties to. Keborg followed him. His wounds would not heal and his body started to decay, but the blaze kept it from falling apart. In the mine, he found ruins that foretold of a power called the “Realix”. He started to form a plan to obtain it, to prove once and for all that he was the strongest. That he was a god among men.
