Darkbolt, Lovecraftian Survival-Horror Game Announced
Darkbolt, Lovecraftian Survival-Horror Game Announced | #Lovecraft #IndieGame #SurvivalHorror #Roguelite #HorrorGame
As often as we get post-apocalyptic games (and we have plenty of them) and as often as we get Lovecraftian titles (and we have plenty of them, too) we don’t oftentimes get survival-horror games themed around a Lovecraftian world set in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. Well, developer Overflow is tackling that challenge with an isometric rogue-lite called Darkbolt. (more…)

Darkbolt is the son of Ultra Magnus and busybody Autobot council member Eirin.
A particularly-cruel young mech, Darkbolt isn’t the least bit fond of Sterling or her fellow Autocons simply because he believes they’re inpurities within an otherwise pure society forged of Autobots and Predacons, and he most certainly believes they should perish alongside the extinct dinobots—Well, one could also say he’s jealous of the attention Sterling gets and maybe that is his true motive, but as of late there’s no real way of telling; He is a recluse with a private life and his only friend seems to be the loose canon Nightflight. Even then, she strongly opposes the hate he directs at his niece.
Darkbolt’s relationship with his creators is strained—perhaps non-existant. Eirin acts as a dipomat for the council and, from what he can remember, was always away on trips or meetings. He considers her little more than a stranger who did not care for him (contributing to his later feelings of abandonment) despite her protests to the contrary. Ultra Magnus was present for part of Darkbolt’s sparklinghood, so their relationship marginally has more substance, but once Optimus was chosen to become a prime Magnus’ feelings of jealousy and hatred were the only ones Darkbolt knew. He assumes now that perhaps if his sire thrived on those feelings and became powerful, then he could as well.
