The Dark I Know Well || Vlad.
It had been a month. One long, blurred and tiresome month since Clara Moretti had spent her night bickering then sleeping with Vladimir Dmitriev. It had been a month ago too since they had seen each other face to face and she wasn't sure whether it had the same effect on him but it was emotionally draining for her not being able to see him for so long. The effects were unwanted but inevitable considering the way they felt for each other and the way they ended their relationship if it even was such a thing. Standing there in the elevator with one hand firmly pressed to her hip and the other holding her phone, Clara scrolled through the messages she'd received from fellow co-workers and friends before reaching one of the more important and unavoidable ones that caused a smile to form at the corners of her lips as she felt a little burning feeling fill her cheeks but quickly shook it off. The reminder that the relationship or whatever it was with Vinnie Auditore was not public knowledge causing her to shake it away almost as instantly as it had begun.
As the elevator reached her floor and the doors opened, the brunette walked out and made her way over towards her assistant with a bright smile, obviously being her usual chipper self. "Good morning. Any appointments today?" She questioned, her right brow arched upwards highly as she ran her tongue across her lower lip, awaiting a reply from the ditzy blonde with the bright blue eyes who seemed to have more of a chance of being an actress than a desk girl for the rest of her life. "Well, um, some drunk guy came in and made me schedule him in. He's an old patient actual." Clara's lips turned, a frown settling on her face as she furrowed her brows and released a sigh. "And does this drunken male have a name, Caitlin?" She was starting to consider the possibility that she may need to either get a new assistant or pay for the girl to make some sort of class to learn a thing or two. "Oh..yeah. Um, his name is Vladimir."
The expression on her face shifted once more as she felt her eyes close for a moment, her hand tightly gripping her phone as she swallowed hard and silently nodded. "When he gets here, please buzz me and let me know, okay?" She asked with a faked smile of generosity before turning on the heels of her stilettos as she made her way into her office, closing the door gently behind herself as she felt her hands shaking slightly. "FUCK!" She yelled, brushing her hand back through her hair as she breathed in a deep breath and tried not to be too loud, afraid that the people buzzing around outside might hear her. What the hell did he want? Why had he decided now of all the times to come and see her to come now? She was finally happy and had forgotten about him. Okay, she hadn't, she'd lied. Clara had told Vlad she'd forgotten about him and the night they'd spent together but all she'd been thinking about since then was that one night.
Hearing the buzz on her desk and the sound of her assistants voice telling her of his arrival within minutes of her being in her office, Clara swallowed hard and closed her eyes tightly to withhold the emotions and the tears. Grasping the door handle, she tugged it open and looked at him, her lower lip trembling as she drew in a fresh breath of air before pulling back and slamming the door closed quickly, pressing her back against it. What was wrong with her? Had she become some 15 year old girl who was hiding from her crush? No, she wasn't that at all. She was just..nervous to see him, that was all. As she reopened and the door and regained her strength, Clara forced a smile although she felt like bursting into tears right then and there, admitting to him about how much she truly had missed him and how good it was to see him once again. "Vladimir, come on in."
