DARKSIDERS 4 HYPE ANYONE???
A lot of these are just Strife. I honestly couldn't picture some of them to be anyone else.
I attempted to draw the horsemen's mount as real horses, it was meant to be a quick sketch, but looking at it now I don't think it's very good.... Still cute to think about though
Something recently made me think back to a conversation in the Darksiders-discord. It was about the horses and I believe I had mentioned how I headcanoned Mayhem to be a mare. The other three are stallions, so why not. This turned into a discussion and I wanted to end it on an amicable note, pointing out how in Darksiders 4 I honestly just want more interactions between Horseman and horse (especially after what Fury said in D3 & what happened to her horse). This is how it ended.
For the puns! (Strife would)
I was thinking about what Mayhem could be like under the armor and remembered that I have the Sims 4 installed.
In my fanon, Phantom Horses reflect the souls of the Horsemen, that's why they gave them such names and why they look like that.
In general, his horse is white, thin I only later looked that the mane should be dark, but the game got bugged and now it doesn't display the stickers. There are writings on Mayhem (in Nephilim? Maybe they had their own writing after all??), reflecting the inner Strife's turmoil, his experiences and worries. Perhaps these are his misdeeds and sins, for which he now repents.
Сan definitely say that Death would be furious at what there written, and others would not appreciate it either - Fury may have been impressed, but War would only have been contemptuous. So Strife did what he always did - hid and concealed.
In real something like this:

It’s time for a short intermission and some musing on a subject of horses. Shall we?
During your first meeting, Ruin spat in your hair and then stomped away almost bumping you out of balance. It would be good to write it off as first meeting mishaps but his behaviour only worsened afterwards. That new flowerbed you just put in place? Why, that a perfect place to roll! Clean laundry, hanged to dry? It was in the way, so now it’s on the ground. Also enjoy a complimentary hoof-shaped hole in your sweater. No pots, pans, trays or anything can be left on the window – they it will be knocked out. Same goes for curtains. In your humble opinion Ruin is a cat masquerading as a horse. He is quite territorial and jealous too, so no one else is allowed to be an asshole around you. If they try…well they won’t try again.
Despair has this quiet, eerie presence which is impossible to pinpoint unless you know exactly that you’re looking for. Regardless the time you spend together there are always a small chance that he’ll startle you by appearing as if out of nowhere. Which is especially puzzling because unless Death needs him for something Despair is always in close vicinity. He’s calm and seemingly apathetic, or maybe just plain lazy? One thing though, the most spectral of all horses sure does physical attention. Ear scratching, head pats or just light mane brushing – you have to give it all and constantly, otherwise he will follow you everywhere, practically cornering you after few minutes. Please pay attention to him. Right now.
Two things are absolute truth about Mayhem: (a) he will eat anything and (b) he’s willing to go out of his way to eat it. Nothing is safe or sacred. He stole a pie from your window (provided it was Ruin who knocked down the dish first), ate through grocery bag which was only briefly unattended, and at one memorable occasion even marched in your house to ravage the pantry. If you dare walk past him with a cup or a plate he will try to (and most likely succeed) have a few licks or just make you drop it altogether. Mayhem is unstoppable and impossible to keep away. At this point it’s easier to just fix him a helping of whatever you’re having. It will be appreciated.
Rampage is always…distant - literally and figuratively. He isn’t skittish by any means, but somehow you just know that it will be unwise to come closer. Fury's mount is the very epitome of “look, don’t touch”. And so you stick with looking from afar. He’s beautiful though, truly breathtaking. Picturesque in any settings…almost suspiciously…yeah, this one is a poser. Or perhaps a model basking in well-deserved attention and adoration? Remember, approaching him is a privilege you’ve yet to earn. So please feel free to continue to admire from a distance. Don’t let Rampage know that you’ve figured him out though. His ego is fragile that way. Just like several other things on your property. Don’t want anything breaking, are we?
I have more, you know:

Started working on a little sketch, featuring Strife and Mayhem, taking a well-earned nap. Seriously, I need more interaction between Horsemen and their horses. Come on Darksiders 4....
Also, Mayhem’s armour is a night-“mare” (I see myself out) –but that’s why Mayhem needs to be a mare; for the puns! Strife would, we all know it.
