So I was thinking about season 4, and it's when the Elemental Masters get left on the island and Turner is like "but we have families back in Ninjago" and I was like "tf do they do there then?"
I have a few ideas for a couple, boils down to:
Karlof oversees Metalonia, which i think of as more of a different province of Ninjago
Turner mostly looks after extremely rural and far apart areas because speed = able to react to danger in a larger radius
Tox I have decided is sciency, in the chemistry way, the medical way, I haven't decided, but I do know she loves carnivorous plants
Neuro keeps a low profile as an Elemental Master, but he works largely as a psychologist (I have decided criminal but reconsidering)
Chamille does a ton of spying for anyone who will pay her
Bolobo is of course, an environmentalist, but in the violent way
Shade mostly keeps his eye on the criminal underworld, dealing with large organised crime as opposed to the disorganised crime that the police deal with.
So of course, being a Shade Enjoyer, I was like "what if the elemental masters of shadow mainly did that and were ostracised for it because everyone else thought they were more criminals?" so here we go, basically shade's upbringing with his sister.
So long story short, I saw how in the Serpentine War flashback in S4 had a female master of shadow, then in Dragon's Rising we have Obscuria, and I was like "what if it's a predominantly female-favouring element?" and then i roped fire, water, gravity, and poison into the 'choosy about gender' category.
So, the way I decided that the element of Shadow was passed on is: when a daughter gets her period, she inherits the elemental power. Of course, it makes a heavy bias towards female children in the family, Shade was born first, then his sister Ultra Violet, who i will be calling violet for the sake of my sanity.
I'm not saying that the Master of Shadow was abusive towards Shade, but she very clearly played favourites and I know neglect is a form of child abuse but he hasn't quite realised or understood that. Violet got all of their mother's attention, all of her love, and she also got all of her (current) disregard for Shade, which would later turn to resentment.
Shade kind of exists in Violet's background, he's allowed to live with them but their mother is adamant about kicking him out at 18.
So, when Violet gets her first period, she and her mother are very excited. Obviously she's not going to inherit the full mantle yet because "Ah yes, let's put this 12 year old in charge of a criminal empire" is a fabulous idea, their mother still plays an administrative/advisory role until the new Master is fully trained.
They're happy until a week later when Violet's period finishes, and no elemental powers. Their mother had lost hers so they're like "wtf". Meanwhile 12.5-year-old Shade had woken up for a midnight piss and got stuck in the shadows. For obvious reasons of vanishing into a shadow, Shade knows he inherited the power, which he had been kept completely in the dark about its range and abilities, he knows it exists, but that's it.
So he hides it from them because he doesn't know what they'd do to him to "extract" the power and give it to his sister. Eventually, they figure it out, violet's disregard turns to resentment for stealing her birthright, and their mother is pissed but resigns to there being a male master of shadow.
She still doesn't train him, but lets him have access to records of previous elemental masters for him to get a feel of what he's going to get into.
Then I haven't really thought about this but originally the Masters of Shadow were based in Ninjago with like a huge manor or something, but there was a split in their empire between Shade and Violet, which ended in Shade being driven out.
I haven't seen beyond s5 since I got back into the fandom but either the defectors joined Violet to become the Sons of Garmadon, or she used her mega leadership skills from her mother to create them.
Finally writing Shade and Neuro getting together, I'm sooo looking forward to watching them fall in love but my brain is also like "fated divorce" and i somehow came to the conclusion that after the divorce, they did a prenup or whatever but when they exchange assets, they both end up poorer somehow. I personally don't headcanon either as being richer than the other, but somehow they both lose money in that situation. where does it go? idk
But, these 2 idiots are stupid beyond belief. both hide their secret identities from the other, only to find out they're in love with each other's secret identities. Wanted to write a proper argument/fight scene for that but then i was also like "i want them happy and they should be able to resolve conflicts properly like adults". the temptation to have the kiss/sex to sweep the argument under the rug but that would be so ooc it's not even funny lmao.
either way, they're going to kiss because i said so, and it's going to be a oneshot unless it's like 20k+ if it's the last thing that i do

1. Their first Impression of eachother
Shade would get annoyed by Neuro of how constant he is persistent about reading his mind, he would often avoid him. Neuro thinks shade is just careless and egotistical and he often bickering with him.
2. How their relationship or know they like ech other
For Neuro probably he realized back in season 4 when on the challenge to find Nya. Yes that specific one I think off screen Shade would caught Neuro falling from the jetplane and shade caught him and accidentally reading his mind and that made him blushing and having a feelings for Shade.
For Shade he just realized at the end of season 4 after the battle and saw Neuro smiled. Yeah that's the reason he fell for him. It's like "Oh. Oh" type and realizing he's gay.
3. Starting to date
For both I would think season 8/9 is where the two started dating especially after the one where the resistance taking over the radio station. That was were they almost confessing (like Jaya in season 10), but they actually started date when last episode of season 9 and after the celebration. The one who confess first is Shade, he's kind of hot headed and inpatients
4. Do they have any children in future?
The answer is yes :)
They have 2 set of twins (yes mpreg neuro) and their name are Reika (left) dan Renmu (right). Both are male and well both are mama's boys and would be clingy to Neuro. But Renmu is more like his Papa shade and would following him everywhere.

6. Female Neuro x Shade hc (somekind)
Lady Neuro, that's the fem version of Neuro same like the og only have long hair different. Shade would be very very simp for her and also flirty to her, being bold and him would flirting all the time. Type is like abbey and heath from monster high G1 dynamic except Shade isn't that stupid lmao
7. Childhood AU for them (past experiments au)
- both were from the same foundation as they were both are experiments. They were experimented on their elemental power (so in this AU Dusk was dead)
- both are from different level. Shade was in the B tier, while neuro is in A tier level high so in conclusion Neuro's is more danger at the time.
- Neuro has his long hair and his features are really feminine. He often mistaken as a girl, especially by shade the first time he met him and he instantly has this crush/protective of Neuro.
- the two ended up escaped the lab and had their memories wiped, Shade made promose to meet Neuro again in the future and him even told his feeling for Neuro.
8. Married life
Both eventually got married pre-merge and set after season 13. Shade was the one who proposed to Neuro, he buys the matching rings and Ying and yang emblem. Their rings is their opposite one, Neuro have the amethyst ring center, while neuro have the obsidian ring center. Also the one who officiate their marriage is Karlof :3
Neuro and Shade were going to get married, then the Tournament invitation came
Shade is the flirty one, but he cannot take it at all. man turns into a blushing, flustered mess if Neuro flirts back
They're both really smart & aggressive planners, this is how Shade inexplicably got his hands on Neuro's finances, did the maths, and figured out they could take home like an extra 8k/year each if they got a civil union. and that's how they got married at first, and then they wanted to get it done properly like 1.5 years after dating
They complement each other well in combat. Neuro is better off at dealing with lots of people he can influence or confuse, and is best at dealing with ambushes/surprise attacks. Shade mostly uses his clones to distract his opponents, then ambushes them, and doesn't do too well against large crowds. They both fill in each other's short comings.
Specifically for Neuro, he can only do hallucinations if he gets physical contact
Nya/Tox
Love at first sight, except they mutually believe that the other doesn't want them. Nya thinks Tox is too cool, and Tox thinks Nya is too good for her and Nya's out of her league
Tox has a thing about armour, Samurai X has a new fan and Tox has a lady boner
They're both smart in their own ways: Tox with chemicals, she'd be a toxicologist or something. Nya with technology and engineering. Neither really understand what the other does, but will listen to a 50-slide long powerpoint about each other's special interest
Skipping ahead to season 5: When they find out that Nya is the Mistress of Water, Tox would encourage her to remain as Samurai X because up to that point, she had been an object of desire (rescue from skeletons, a love interest for Cole and Jay) until she got her own autonomy through Samurai X, and gained her own personhood until Wu was like "You're the Master of Water, and therefore something the main cast can want/need again" (I'm not going to re-write season 5 because I just don't have a lot to say, but it's still like. Let Nya be her own person plz)
Tox joined the resistance in season 9 because Nya asked her too
Their Elements complement each other like really well. As the ship name suggests, Tox gets insane range with her Power if Nya helps. And Nya's Power gets way more deadly if Tox helps her
Nya, when the Mistress of Water, would make Tox dying her hair really easy
