A/N: i love Enoch with my whole heart :’) this is more short but its such a cute idea i couldn’t help myself
Living in the loop was a dream come true for the peculiars, but it didn’t give them many places to go when it came to things like dates. Most of the dates you and Enoch went on consisted of picnics, hanging out in Enoch’s room while he did experiments, or doing double dates with Emma and Jacob in the house.
You wanted a different kind of date with the quiet peculiar, so here you were, dragging Enoch away from the house towards the beach on the island.
“Where are you taking me?” Enoch asked.
“It's a surprise!” you responded.
Getting to the sand, you stopped in front of the small waves heading towards the two of you.
“We’re… going to swim?” Enoch guessed, looking at you with his eyebrows raised.
You looked back at him, mimicking his face with your eyebrows also raised.
“No! We’re not swimming today. I brought you here for an idea I got the other night. There are tons of rocks here, so we’re going to find a rock that matches each other's eye color,” you explained. “Now let me look at your eyes.”
You reached out and cupped Enoch’s cheeks, bringing his face closer so you could see his eyes properly, your foreheads almost touching. The color of them was a honey brown, which had a beautiful hue in the sunlight. He stared back into your eyes, taking in the color as well, a hand placed on your cheek.
Once you got a grasp of the color, you let go of his face and started down the beach, looking at the sand for rocks. There were many small rocks in the sand and in the water, but not many of them came close to the color you were looking for. You picked up the ones that seemed close and held onto them as you kept walking. Looking over your shoulder you could see Enoch following you, not picking up any rock that was on the ground.
“You have to get rocks, Enoch!” You called over your shoulder.
He looked up at you and back down at the sand, pretending to be looking for rocks. You turned around and went to him with the rocks in your hand.
“You need to participate so it can match,” you tried to explain, holding the rocks up to his eyes and seeing if the color matched. “We need to have a matching pair so it’ll look cute.”
Enoch smiled at you, looking at the rocks you held up.
“I don’t think any of these rocks are going to match how stunning your eyes are.”
“You need to still try! I want to keep the one I find in my room so it can remind me of you.” You dropped most of the rocks back on the sand, none of them fitting the color of his eyes.
“Why would you need to be reminded of me when I’m literally two doors down from you,” he said sarcastically.
“It’s supposed to be cute! You’re ruining it.” You pouted, walking past him to look for more rocks. “You better have some by the time I get back!”
After what felt like hours of looking at the sand for rocks, you finally found some that you thought were real contenders. Making your way back, you were surprised to find Enoch looking really closely at a rock, his other hand holding a small pile of them. He looked up at you, starting to make his way towards you so you could compare the rocks you had found.
You looked down at his pile, seeing the colors and wondering how those could come close to what you perceived your eye color to be.
“Do you want to go first?” You asked, nodding your head towards his pile.
“Sure.”
He started to go through the pile, putting them up to your eyes and comparing the color. Throwing some back to the sand, Enoch narrowed his small pile down to two rocks. He held both of them up to your eyes, looking at each of them and your eyes to try and see which one was better. He finally picked one, dropping the other back into the sand.
“This one is perfect.” He said, looking into your eyes and smiling. “Your turn.”
You slowly went through the rocks you had found, looking closely to make sure the colors matched perfectly. Immediately, there was a rock in your pile that fit the exact shade of brown that Enoch’s eyes were. You dropped the rest of the pile, keeping the perfect rock with you.
“Now this one is perfect.” You smiled.
Enoch put an arm around your shoulder, pulling you in and placing a kiss on your forehead.
“Now what are we supposed to do with these rocks?” His lips moved against your skin.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m going to display this in my room somewhere.”
Enoch chuckled, starting to guide the both of you away from the beach and back to the house.
“I think I’ll find a spot in my workspace to keep the reminder that I have the best partner in the entirety of this loop.”
You smiled and leaned into him, walking back to the house with your rocks ready to go tell Emma and Jacob about the successful new date idea.
It had been pouring down with rain all day long with no signs of letting up, which gave you and Tom an excuse to have a lazy day at home together.
You both woke up late and spent the early afternoon baking hazelnut cookies, one of Tom's favourite recipes. Your evening was spent reading your favourite book on the couch with Tom laying his head on your lap, as you both listened to the sound of the storm outside your window.
We meet to do simple tasks together like homework or cooking dinner, but i make quick sketches of you through the whole day, and show it to you in the end of the day, so you can see for yourself how beautiful you are
Date idea : We annotate our favorite books and trade them, then we meet a couple of days later just to talk about them, while sipping orange juice by the seashore and watching the sunrise.
concept: we are at the aquarium on a date. i cling onto ur arm in pure excitement waiting in line, rambling about the 'plan of action' and what we should see first. once inside its fully forgotten as we stare in awe at all the different tanks and colours and i drag you along, laughing, pointing out my favourites - puffing out my cheeks and making fishy faces to copy them 😊 i rest my head on ur shoulder in the relaxed atmosphere, and sigh in contented bliss, filled with love for my favourite things in the world. them and you 💕😊
