I'm about to fall asleep, so this might be dumb but Talon Poker Night (or DA equivalent), Lucanis is winning by a landslide. No one has realized that Spite is helping him cheat. He, of course, does not keep any of his winnings. he merely wanted to play a fun prank on Viago and Teia. It was Rook's idea.
so in my world state’s version of datv, my lavellan is a lot more involved in the story (she and rook are dual protagonists who alternate POVs), and solas also gets out of the prison far earlier (and doesnt betray rook to do it) and since he and lavellan reunite there, when he returns to the lighthouse she comes with him
but now im thinking about how funny it would look in-game since rook can barge in on anyone at the lighthouse at any time
every time he walks into solas’ room where hes watching over my exhausted lavellan sleeping in his lap he’ll give some dialogue variant of “hello rook. do you fucking mind”
I'm so sure someone else has mentioned this but
Rook, who has major FOMO, tries to make a deal with Spite just so they can see and talk to Spite directly
Probably gets interrupted by Emmrich or Taash bc Spite's excitement levels causes waves through the Fade
Headcanon time!
Be ye warned - there are spoilers below for a pretty pivotal, late game, reveal. So, uh, read at your own discretion?? Though, its been over a year since release and I imagine most people who read this will have already beaten the game - multiple times. lol But - better safe than sorry! VARRIC. Okay. So. I know that Solas uses his tentative connection to Rook to ensure they continue to see Varric. Make them believe that he is not dead. But, I think/head canon that there's more to it than Solas either didn't anticipate or doesn't know. When Rook is in the Fade Prison - she speaks with Varric and learns he's been dead since the failed ritural. Some folks argue that this is just her subconscious telling her/catching her up. I don't think that. The Fade is also home to spirits/demons, souls, and the like. Rook was also not the only one who shed blood at the ritual. Varric did as well (his blood was all over the Lyrium Dagger) and was still alive just before Solas got yanked into the Fade. Rook was with Varric at that moment and it is not unreasonable to think that they got some of Varric's blood on them. Which is a moot point for my head canon anyway. The point stands - both of them bled at the ritual. So, all the above exposition - what does this all have to do with my head canon? When Solas crafted his link to Rook I think Varric's 'soul' got caught up in it - since he hadn't quite passed away yet. We know this becuase he was actively moving and in pain when Rook got to him and just before Solas got yanked. While, yes, Solas is actively manipulating Rook's mind to SEE Varric - I think Varric is partially responsible for piloting the 'body' as it were. There are facial expressions that you see in game - that Rook doesn't - that make him too Varric rather a Solas Piloted Puppet. For instance, the very first scene post ritual that you have with him. He has rolled over and turned his back to Rook as they are leaving the infirmary. He is actively SAD as he says "See ya around, kid". There would be zero reason for Solas to do that. So, yes. Solas actively makes Rook see Varric. But, I think Solas thinks that they are just reconstructing dialogue based on how Varric would've answered. Whereas, whats really happening is Varric is doing his best from the Fade to guide Rook and make sure they have the tools they need to succeed and helping reassure them that he chose them for a reason.
Okay - that's all from me. I'm on my like...6th playthrough and am preparing my soul for the ugly cry that always happens at that reveal. It never stops hurting even though I know its coming. lol
Reckless Lords of Fortune Rook who also slathers the team in sun cream bc yeah they could die fighting the Gods but trying to survive a gnarly sunburn?? Absolutely not
Edit: Emmrich is one of their main targets bc that man doesn't seen sun and will be obliterated by the rays
They have to sneak attack Davrin bc he'll use the excuse that he has an extra layer of melanin and that doesn't work on Rook who has seen that sun blisters don't discriminate
Taash doesn't even fight them on it bc they get it
