trick or treat ares? (i love you're writing)

Ares lays awake, trying and failing to find sleep, when he hears a light, airy music.

He pushes himself up to see Apollo sitting on his windowsill, fingers dancing across his lyre. “What are you doing here?”

“Get some sleep,” he says instead of answering, “I’ll keep watch.”

There’s nothing to keep watch from, not really, but Ares lives in war, so with that promise and the calming music, he finally manages to fall asleep.

This is a little longer than a 100-word drabble and inspired by Tank and The Bangas Rollercoasters. Not traditionally what you may have been looking for but I hope you enjoy it

Feels Like Falling

Anissa hits play on her phone and secures her earbuds as she slips her phone back in her hoodie pocket.

The lyrics of this song meant so much more to her now. Made even more sense.

Another kick to her favorite busted washer, or what was left of it, punctuated the hook in her ears.

Anissa watched it roll across the murky ground and the door falls off the hinge. The rush she felt as she took the next even, deep breath felt magical.

You see, rollercoasters, roller coasters are for people who have never been in love

They want to know how it feels to just fall

Anissa knew that feeling. She had truly fallen. Fallen in love with these powers. She was still a bit scared sure, but the pay off from silencing the word “bitch” from her orbit one more time was worth it.

She’d do good for her city. Just like she told Grace she would. She’d fly and not look back.
