I always thought, if there would be another Narnia movie, it would be cool if Celtic Woman did some of the music, like a theme song. And now that there’s the Netflix series I had the same thought but then remembered that, while being very, very beautiful, Gavin Murphy’s compositions/arrangements really wouldn’t work for Narnia that well (maybe for a song in the credits or something, that would be cool!), and the same, to a lesser degree, for the current line up. But I think David Downes would be a really good composer for the series. I mean, the soundtrack of Disney’s LWW is pretty much unbeatable, and I don’t think anyone else should attempt to beat it, only to fail miserably, but since I sort of expect the Netflix adaptation to become, well, slower, and closer the the books in its tone, David’s style would fit really well. His arrangements are rich, but soft, complex, not too catchy, and vaguely Celtic. I mean, he is a film/tv composer, too, so it’s not too far-fetched. And, does it get any more beautiful than The Soft Goodbye?
