DAVID GARIBALDI LEAVES TOWER OF POWER: David Garibaldi has left Tower of Power. But he is not retiring.
“I’m just not on the tour bus,” said the 77-year-old drummer, who cited TOP’s 110-show years as the reason for his amicable split.
“As we said many times, ‘You can’t be a pussy if you want to be in a funk band.’”
A NITTY GRITTY SO LONG: The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on March 21 will embark on its “last traditionally scheduled gigs,” dubbed All the Good Times: The Farewell Tour.
“No need to fret, this isn’t goodbye forever, but it will be the last fans see of multi-city runs and long bus rides,” the group said in a statement.
GD/ABB TRIBUTE TOUR PLANNED: Former Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten will join one-time Allman Brothers sideman Les Dudek and members of the Allman Betts Band, Bob Weir & RatDog, Phil Lesh & Friends and Oteil and Friends for a 16-date tour called Live Dead & Brothers, running April 5 to May 11.
TONY RICE RETURNS TO CHURCH STREET: Tony Rice’s long-out-of-print, 1983 album, Church Street Blues, will be reissued on vinyl and in HD audio on April 5.
