Grimm kicked it off 🌟 . I wanted to be a movie star, so once I graduated college I decided to pursue it in my own way. That “way” was Parkour. I thought that by gaining a name in that world and by getting into productions through it, I could find a way into movies. Looking back, it wasn’t a half-bad idea! I got an agent through it, and then I doubled down by moving to France to work with @davidbelleofficialpage who was working on films. Through the relationship with David I was “supposed" to work with him on “The Family” with Robert De Niro, and I was “supposed” to work with him on "Brick Mansions" (@paulwalker's last full film 😭). But both things fell through, and that path ended. . Then one day in October 2014, I got an audition call from @castironpdx for Grimm. I knew nothing about acting - NOTHING. Nada. Zero. Zip. I don’t even know why I got the audition. And yet, to this day, what I did in that audition room was, in my opinion, still, one of my best auditions ever. Some combination of luck, confidence, and naivety made that happen. It’s a fun story I’ll tell some time. . Anyway, I got that role, and it turned into a small, recurring role on the show. On one of the last days of shooting for me, I approached @mrsasharoiz and asked him for advice on how I could do more of this type of work. He said, “Are you in an acting class?” I said, “No,” and he said, “Get in an acting class.” . Because of Sasha's advice, I joined @rooney_ted's acting class, and short story long, it didn’t take long before I realized that I authentically looooved acting. And the more I grew to love it, the less I cared about being a movie star. . I don’t care about being a movie star anymore – at least not in the way many do. I just want to be a great actor, and if that leads to doing big films, great, I’d looooove that! But when I think about “What I want” from acting, I’ve boiled it down to a simple idea: I want to tell great stories with great people. I think if I’m doing that consistently then I’m in the right place. Not even movie stars always get that opportunity. . So far it's trending positively. We had a lot of momentum. A dream level of momentum 🌟 . In 2011 I moved to France to work with David Belle. I didn't tell anyone outside my circle. I'm just kind of private like that. It was every Traceur's dream just to meet David, and now I was going to work with him? That gave my all the more reason to keep it quiet – I didn’t want to make anyone jealous. . Later that year, after David and I became close friends, I convinced him he needed a platform to market himself, and I convinced him to let me create a website for him as well as social media channels. We launched his website, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube all on the same day. They all endorsed my company @tkflt 👕 . At the time, there was already some strong animosity in the Parkour world towards Take Flight and me. Suffice it to say, I didn't understand it, but I thought for sure that this - that working with David - would change everyone's minds and make everyone realize my vision and heart and all I was doing for Parkour. . I couldn't have been more wrong. . Instead of embracing the news, people refused to believe it and used it to deepen and spread their negative paradigms. Some of the most prominent people in the Parkour world came out publicly and spoke out against me. They said it was a lie; that I was impersonating David to build Take Flight; that I had tricked David and was just using him to make money. To this day, it is possibly the most contentious rumor in Parkour history. It spanned the world, and it never fully dissipated. When, a few days later, David posted a photo of him and me together to diffuse the negativity, it hardly helped. "He's still shady as f*ck." That's the response I remember most. . Humans are weird. The way most people process information makes no sense to me. David saw that I had a different perspective as well. He said I couldn’t have been from this planet. He often said I was an alien. I think he was on to something. . This story has nothing to do with momentum. Trust me, though, when this site launched we had it. It was dream level momentum. How we lost it is another story. .
