Day 056: Magic

“Okay, okay you need to start over.” 

Everything that’s happened in the last twenty minutes has your head spinning. Moments ago you were alone in your apartment studying, and now there was a fox sitting on your bed talking to you about magic. He let out a long sigh and reached out his front paw. You looked at it and back at his face. 

“Take my hand, I’ll show you,” He was annoyed, that much was obvious. You hesitantly took his paw in your hand. As soon as the paw was within yours, a glow overtook him, swirls of light and smoke puffed around his form. A tall man pushed through the smoke and now loomed over you. Started, you almost fell off your chair. His hand in yours, that was no longer a paw, pulled you up, prevented your fall. He sighed, “If you break this connection, I will turn back into a fox. Getting here took a lot out of me and I need to borrow some magic to maintain this form. Focus.” 

You blinked up at him, shocked and still utterly confused. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand, “Children understand this faster.”

“I’ve never been on a jungle gym.” Adrien looked surprised by his own admission.

She looked at him, and then at the jungle gym, which looked like a rope replica of the Eiffel Tower. “It’s been a long time for me, too,” she said. “Do you want to?”

“Heck yes.”

Ten minutes later, Adrien and Ladybug sat back to back in the topmost seat of the structure, swaying gently with the efforts of the children climbing around the ropes below. “I should’ve asked for this instead of a rock climbing wall,” he mumbled.

“You have a rock climbing wall?”

“Yeah, in my room. My parents didn’t like for me to leave the house if I didn’t have to, so they tried to give me everything I wanted inside it.” His smile was distant. “They wanted money to solve everything. It didn’t. But they really tried.”

Marinette fiddled with Ladybug’s yo-yo. “You really hadn’t been to a Carrefour,” she said.

“I really hadn’t,” Adrien agreed. “Thanks. It wasn’t… too mundane?”

“I liked it. It felt like we were living together.” She clapped her hands to her mouth. Her blush burned her palms even through her suit, and she tried to decide whether it was lucky or not that they were back-to-back.

Adrien was quiet for a moment, and Marinette dared to hope that he hadn’t heard her over the laughter of children below. “I’m only in Lycée,” he said at last, “but, if you would like, when I am living on my own….”

She leapt upward off the jungle gym seat in sheer delight, and in several moments swung herself up to the very top of the structure, squealing all the way. “Yes!” she shrieked, and slid back down to the seat. “Yes, I would— I would love to.” And she pressed a kiss to his cheek.

Day 56

Telework day. Hung out with nick again, who came over to telework with me. He brought me noodles & co ^_^ Min (@jenimal) came over later too, and we went to Leesburg Outlet stores. It was my first time there. Bought my mom's Mother's day gift, a DKNY handbag/purse. She loved it, thank God. She's very picky about her handbags, and commended me for picking out the "just right" bag for her even though our tastes are super different. She ended up giving me the one I got her last year, a white Coach bag, because it was too clean for her to use. Not that I'm gonna be any more careful than she is. =_= But I'm glad she gave it to me, because it's a cute purse >:)

Day 57

Saw Shaneka, another fellow DHS student intern, for the first time in six months today, since she's back from school. Yay! Around lunch time, I went to Nando's Peri-Peri chicken with Gloria (@glorida00) and then went to see the Captain American 2 filming that was happening right by my office. I remember Salt was filming near my office 2-3 years ago, and X-Men: First Class was also filming near my office, too. Yay for working in DC. :D Also, my Henna tattoo is becoming visible. It was weird, the first day it looked like it didn't work, but it gradually darkened on my skin over the weekend. I went to Guitar Center and met up with Monty to buy a new 88-key keyboard, keyboard amp, instrument cables, pedal, and keyboard stand. I dropped $1,000+ on this stuff. Time to get serious about performing. I'm tired of having the excuse of not wanting to sing with just a CD or not having my own rendition of things. I can lug this thing around with me and perform. :) Happy with my purchase. Got Monty some Peruvian chicken to thank him for his advising. 

Day 58

Went in to work late today. The building got evacuated, though, because an emergency was reported or something. We chilled outside for like an hour. But man we had to go down the stairs and I got stuck behind this BIG lady. I'm talking, like, she took up the entire width of the staircase. If this was a fire we would have all died. She had to land on each step with both of her feet, and that on top of her natural drag from her weight just really slowed everyone down. =_= Anyway. After work, went to Chipotle then Jorge's house for the first time in like a month. Watched community, smoked hookah, the usual. Right afterwards, went to hang out with my little Huy for the first time in forever. We went to TeenoZytoon. My first time there. It was a pretty cool place. Service was good, hookah was decent, and there were a lot of people there. Particularly asians O_O Talked about life and relationships and just generally catching-up.
