To the most simple of complex phrases that noone, no matter how hard they try, can quite explain.
The recent snowfall has yet again forced me into a state of defense. I feel a strong desire to fight against the COLD, but despite my best efforts there is no FORCING nature to do anything. Though the snow was piled high yesterday afternoon, TUCK had not been walked since the day before last, i have been feeling a bit sick as of late, and shirked my duties as prince over the MTN (i am beginning to sound like a fantasy author). So i decided to take TUCK on a walk yesterday. We walked up and down all the local neighborhood roads, most of which we had walked down before. There was one street in particular that i am positive we had walked before, but with obvious oblivion in my head upon passing a certain square of concrete. As we were walking i was listening to the birds off on the west side of street singing their songs to whoever was within their sonic reach.
Carved into the cement on the sidewalk there was a simple phrase.
Now, i am sure that Bobby Finkerdorf wrote it in while the cement was drying much to the despair of his parents and the concrete guy who layed it. But the simplicity of the phrase, at that moment, made me STOP, made me THINK. I wish there were more simple things such as these in life to make me STOP/THINK. I think that my favorite part about it was that there was no subject, no girl or boy or thing that ended the simple phrase....just...."I LOVE". Nothing more. The thought of just "loving" without any particular plan is the most basic but difficult of concepts. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
We passed the phrase and off to the local bakery. I had recently visited a couple of bakeries to make an inquiry about their old bread. I had been reading this story about an urban farmer in NEW YORK, that fed her chickens solely on thrown out bread from her local bakery, thus cutting out the expensive chicken feed. SHE inspired me. And so began my quest for FREE old bread. I spoke with the owner of one of the local bakeries here, and we decided for a trade, i would bring her music, and she would give me bread. WONDERFUL! Trading is much better than buying. I give you what i can do, you give me what you can do, and it will all work out. The chickens are now dining on some day old bread.
If 100 things can break my heart, this is in the top 27.
The day is new. I am off to greet it.
