Today is traditionally the Transgender Day of Visibility. Obviously this year is very different. But it’s worth reflecting that in times of trouble community is everything. Small things that previously divided us now seem more outdated and unhelpful than ever. I @’d Vent (vent app) to ask whether the colors they chose were to imply there was only a gender binary. And someone who worked with vent on the color choices responded!

They said the colors were chosen to represent the transgender flag. And that the emotion color was already pink, so they chose purple for the heart.

However, I said they should not have made the interaction buttons be only 2 colors (besides hug). I thought it implied you can only pick one. That there couldn’t be a 3rd (or more) choice.

The person said they would contact Vent about it!! So maybe they will change it so there is a third color on the interactions.
