my new digital art inspired by this year’s unbelievable sunrise at Daytona. Congrats once again WTR on winning another Daytona 24H!

2010s: Well, it was a truly wonderful year at Daytona. Cold, wet, but wonderful. Great to see the diversity of cars and great to see WTR back in victory lane - they deserve it! The 2010s saw the waning years of the first generation (or maybe it’s considered the second?) of Daytona Prototypes, leading into a big set of rules changes in 2012 that increased the speed and variability of the cars. In 2014 the series combined with the ALMS to form the IMSA United (sponsor) Sportscar Championship, and included a fantastic combination of the Daytona Prototypes and the ALMS’s P2 class, making for an incredibly diverse prototype field. The DPs were also updated and made faster for this new formula, and for the first time included a non normally aspirated engine in Ford’s ECOBoost twin turbo V6. Three great years of racing later, the formula saw it’s finally and the new Dpi format was introduced last weekend at the 54th 24 Hours of Daytona, and it was a great success. I’ll post some of my own pictures over the next few days.
