I love making up Martian lore that makes senseTM, but also isn't canon in the slightest. They did not evolve in environment even slightly similar to humans, J'onn and M'gann are out of place on Earth, let me push that shit further!!!

Martian demigod? Where the mortal parent is Martian Manhunter?

Alright let's go, another sort of long one!
@DC let me write an elseworlds stand-alone that’s just about J’onn and M’gann travelling across post-apocalyptic Mars, trying to escape the dying planet, and it’s nothing but me talking about weird alien biology and culture.
Revisited my DC Martians today! Up at the top are White and Green Martians- closely related species/subspecies of the Martians. Then the rest is J’onn and M’gann- J’onn finds M’gann after things get real bad, like, apocalyptically bad, and he can’t leave a child to die alone so he takes her in and along with him on his way to escape Mars.
Mars, meanwhile, is a real shitshow. Bad shit happened to everyone and now nobody wins.
J’onn is patient and reserved and hides his fears and trauma well, while M’gann is a hungry, angry child with growing pains.
(the best part about drawing a species of shapeshifters is that I don’t need to be consistent with ANYTHING!)
If anyone ever wondered, Martian Bio-ship in space moves with speed of 890 706 km/h (553 459 mph), which is... about 9,6 times as fast as Mars Science Laboratory, which delivered Curiosity rover over there, with it's 93 295 km/h
This also means that, ignoring air pressure and effects of inertia that I don't know how to account for, but would certainly affect passengers, it would take her about 14,4 seconds to go from New York to Los Angeles.
I'm both delighted and terrified by this information
Hey, hey, I have a question, DC lore knowers
Do you have any canon material/headcanons about color associations in Martian culture? If not, would you like to treat this post as a long discussion to figure it out?
I got a sudden urge to know it and I don't feel like I know enough about the Martian culture in general to make it up. Plus, I have only my European perspective to aid me and I know it varies between cultures on Earth alone so it probably be better if more people worked on it.
But, you know. I think this topic has potential to be fascinating.
My take on DC Martians- two separate species that share a common ancestor, having developed in isolated subterranean systems before meeting. A White and Green, respectively- and in the middle is J'onn and M'gann. Martians grow throughout their lives, albeit rather slowly once they reach adulthood, and J'onn is....big, in his natural form. Although related, they cannot interbreed without technological assistance, and crossbreeds were exceedingly rare for an additional number of cultural reasons. @hatepig helped with a lot of this There's also a lil doodle of J'emm, who is similarly related. Mostly I hate when they make green Martians more human than white Martians like gimme aliums. Both species are adept shapeshifters and psychics, though there is some debate as to which species is strongest in which categories...
